"My mom moved to Commonwealth Senior Living at Grand Rapids. I like that it wasn't too large for her. There are a lot of beautiful facilities in the Grand Rapids area, but this would seem to suit her personality more. It has beautiful views of a pond and some woods, and my mom seems to like the food. On certain days of the week or months, they will have different musicians come in and play. They do crafts and bingo. They do a "Travel Around the World Series" where they bring exotic places to them, so that's fun. They do a lot of different things. They also have a hydroponic garden that grows green leafy vegetables, which they watch grow and then consume."

"Byron Center Manor looked very nice. The people were friendly. They have nice rooms. The dining area was nice and clean too."

"My father-in-law will be moving here. It's beautiful; the apartment that he's going into is very clean and spacious. The bathroom facilities are wonderful. The staff was very informative and very friendly. The dining area was very nice. It's still kind of short because of the COVID, as far as being able to eat in the dining room itself, but it's coming back. It looks very nice, and the chef even came out and introduced herself to us. The activities are limited right now because of Covid. They have a spa and a fitness room. They have a beauty shop, a nice library area, and a nice little bistro area along with their dining room. It was very nice and very clean, I was very happy with them."

"The guy at Commonwealth Senior Living at East Paris was phenomenal. He showed me the rooms, he showed me the facilities, and he showed me where they make the dinners. The guy was on top of everything. He gave me all kinds of advice. He spent about an hour and a half talking with me. The room was beautiful. The place was beautiful. It was phenomenal. Everybody was very hospitable. They were very lively, and they were rambunctious. I think they're probably told that, 'Hey, when you see someone walking around, you just express yourself like hey, good morning or hey, good afternoon.' They acknowledged you. That's why that's the place I'm picking for my wife. If she is going to go anywhere, that's where she is going to go."

"Provision Living at Forest Hills was very nice, but it was expensive, and my sister wouldn't feel comfortable there. It's not her type. It was beautiful, but we knew it wasn't for her. The rooms were nice and big. It was a beautiful place. However, it was more formal than what my sister was used to. The furnishings were beautiful, and the rooms were beautiful, too. The price wasn't out of line with the place, but we didn't consider it at all. The rooms were very roomy and nice. I think you could bring your own furniture, or they would furnish something. The staff member who gave the tour was okay. We saw the dining area. It was nice, but we didn't get to see the food or anything."

"We have a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment, which is good size., with a very nice kitchen area. We are also provided a parking space in a heated garage, plus a good size separate storage space. The staff working here are very friendly, and caring. The residents all know each other, since we are smaller than some other independent retirement residences. We are very happy having chosen to live at Cascade Trails."

"Sunrise of Cascade was a great facility. The tour director was very knowledgeable, helpful, and pleasant. The accommodations were very nice. The workers seemed very happy and involved. They had a lot of activities. They provide a high level of care, and the residents were definitely happy. There was a great menu and the food smelled fantastic."

"Mom just got transferred here. We really like the people there. They're really friendly and bent over backwards to help people, and they seem to work well with people with dementia. She has a nice big room with windows that let a lot of sunshine in. She's happy with her room. It's a private studio. They have activities all the time during the day for the dementia people. They have trips where they go to the store and do stuff in the area. They have a courtyard so you can go outside. They've got it all. It's all fenced in, so you don't have to worry about your parents wandering off. My mom was really happy with the first meal she had there. It's really nice the way it was laid out."

"I was very impressed with Boulder Creek Assisted Living & Memory Care. The rooms were light and the window was big and let out a lot of light. Not that my parents would use it, but there were lots of activities. It seemed like they would have adequate staffing. Everyone seemed very friendly and approachable. There was a gas fireplace in one of the common areas, lots of books to read, and things like that."

"We're very, very happy here at StoryPoint Rockford. My husband drives to go to the grocery store when we need to. We're in independent living and we have a lovely apartment. We eat at 5:00 and the meals at night are perfect. We're friends with a lot of people here. There's nothing wrong with it, all the help, the life enhancement, there's something going on all the time. We have entertainment. Now that the weather's good, we're going out into Grand Rapids for different things. We walk around the building. Our building is big enough to walk twice around. It's a two-story and when the weather doesn't permit, we walk the halls. We have help whenever we want it. Cleaning is done for us, and if something goes wrong with my kitchen sink and my faucet, they're here to fix it. The staff is very nice and they know your name immediately. There are five or six couples here, but we're the only ones without a walker or any assistance. One of the nurses calls us the Dynamic Duo. If something goes wrong with the plumbing or the heating, we don't have to think about that. We just call Wayne and he takes care of it. Our chef is very good, and our menus are healthy. There's ice cream, cakes, and cookies all the time. The wellness center here is perfect. There's somebody here night and day and day and night. We have cords to pull if we need that, and we have health checks all the time. Every week, you get your blood pressure checked if you want. It's great. If you're going to retire, retire in a place like this. We also have the memory section here and those people are taken care of. Each section is well taken care of because we know people from each one. A man that lives in independent living down the hall from us quite often brings his wife, who is in the memory section, to dinner with us. He can go and eat in her section or he brings her to our section. We can see the building where our doctor is. We can walk to it in five minutes or we can drive to it in two minutes. If our doctor says you should see doctor so-and-so, you don't have to make the appointment, she'll contact that doctor and that doctor's office will call us. The system here is perfect. The ear doctor, the eye doctor, the dentist, everything is convenient."

"I am very happy with them. My dad has only been there four or five days, but the place is as clean as can be, and the people are friendly. They have their own chef, and the food is fabulous. It’s not cafeteria-style food; it’s very well prepared. I like the way the staff takes care of him and the layout of the building. It’s secured but open. They make it feel like home for every resident."

"My father has moved into American House Holland. What made us choose this place is the location, the friendliness of the staff, and the knowledge and condition of everybody in the building as well as the building itself. It's very clean. My father has a 350-square-foot studio apartment. It's very nice and open. He has large windows for plenty of outside viewing. And it's conveniently located close to where he eats, so he doesn't have to walk very far."

"Freedom Village Holland was very nice. The food was excellent. The staff was very good, but you have to move to Holland. They don't have garages. The grounds are not pretty, but they have a beautiful facility. We've stayed there overnight. Their activities are very good. It costs more there, so you don't get as much value for your money, but I still think they're great. They have bus activities, they have travel activities, they go to different countries as groups, they have a full-size Olympic swimming pool in the facility, a jacuzzi, and a hot tub. They have an attached care facility. It's a quality unit. There's nothing wrong with that facility other than it's just big. It's seven stories and big problem is the slow elevators. If you want to go to supper, you take your time."
