"My mom moved into Vista Springs Washington Place. It's beautiful, the ratio is five citizens to one caretaker. It's very clean. They go out of their way to individualize the care for each of the members that are there. It's very well taken care of. Her room is very roomy. We got to bring in her furniture to make it individualized to what her needs are. It's gorgeous. It's very well taken care of. Her room is very roomy. They have a family dining room. They have a barbershop. They also have two four seasons rooms. They have an outdoor pavilion so families can meet outdoors."

"My mother has lived at Flourish Collection (previously Blossom Springs Assisted Living) for the past 4 years. The care she receives after suffering a stroke has been wonderful. The staff treats her like a family member and gives me piece of mind when I can’t be with her. While nothing is perfect, they are always willing to listen and try to correct whatever the problem may be. While I don’t live that close to the community, I wouldn’t move her anywhere else based on the facility and care she receives. I would recommend Flourish Collection to anyone looking for a community for their loved ones."

"I have reached out to Leisure Manor of Richmond that I was referred to, and they seemed to fit the bill pretty well, but I'm just taking it slow. The manager there, Tracy, is very knowledgeable and very friendly. She showed me through the facility as much as she could with COVID. They are very respectful of the residents' health. I could only see a couple of places and look through windows, but I would rather have that. It's nice to know that the management there is really considerate about the folks that are living there. She was very thorough with me. I've called her back a couple of times, and she's been very generous in answering questions. It seems like it might be a really good fit for my husband. She's keeping in touch, and I'm keeping in touch, and hopefully that when a decision is made, their facility will still be available. They're a five just on their openness for sharing information with me, answering all of my questions, and taking phone calls when I've thought of other things. Tracy has been very nice. They provide meals and snacks, but the nice thing is they care for seniors, 60 years old and older, but they also care for patients, and they care for people who have problems walking; there are wheelchair folks there. They've only got 20 people there, so they are really able to get to know the people, take care of their needs, and monitor them. They have outdoor picnic tables. The building backs up on a wooded space, so there's wild animals that walk through, they have a bird feeders set up so people can look out at the birds, and they have a patio with a picnic table on it, so during the nice weather they can go out there and eat. The public spaces, the eating areas, and the communal room from what I could see through a door with glass looked really nice and very homey."

"The one that I liked the best was Charter Senior Living of Davison, but they didn't have any room available. They had a physical therapy department right there on site, so they could get physical therapy every day if they needed it. They had individualized meals. Your pets were allowed. They had individual heating. The staff was very welcoming, but the ratio from caregiver to patient was too high - 1 to 10. The food that I had there had taste, and it was easy to eat. They would bend over backward to get you whatever you needed. They had a gym onsite, a chef on site that you can have several choices as to what you want to eat, and they had a beautician and a podiatrist that came on site."

"My dad is a resident of Flourish Collection at Rochester. What I like most about it is that the location is two miles from our house. It is set in a beautiful Rolling Hills Community and it has an active lifestyle for an aging population and there are quite a few activities. An overarching experience that we have had is that anything that needs addressed is done in a very expeditious way. The staff is fantastic and personal. They know my dad, and they know me by name. They are always available and ready to help. He lives in an independent ranch home, two-bedroom, two full bath, garage, laundry room, kitchen, family room, and lanai. It has new carpet, fresh paint, and luxury vinyl flooring. It does have safety pull cords and a daily check-in system that if he has not personally checked in, they will follow up and go to his unit and check in on him. There might have been slight variations as having a corner end unit versus a middle unit. They offer valet and chauffeur service. There's music, which my dad really enjoys. They have a pool, a clubhouse, bocce, pickleball, and hot tub that is available to any of the residents to reserve individually or enjoy as a community. They also have onsite healthcare. There are in-home visits by a nurse practitioner on a weekly basis every Monday, which is fantastic. They have in-home podiatry care, which is every other month and they do feet and hands. They offer vision care and they have hearing aid appointments. They have in-home dental care as well. My dad doesn't have a dog, but I see that they have a little van that pulls up to groom and wash and care for your dog. There are quite a few residents that have dogs that I've seen. He has had in-home physical therapy as well, which is fantastic. You're not running around town trying to coordinate that and as a family member/caregiver/helper, it allows me to still raise my family while knowing that he's cared for there. The community director gave me access to communicate with him and he is always available. If there is a problem, it's addressed immediately. It does feel more personal than it does a machine or a corporation. My son and the community director's son were playing against each other at a local high school baseball game and the community director came down to my car and got my dad out of the car and helped him walk up to the game. It's personal. It's not just a business. They care and they want to help make their golden years comfortable and enjoyable and special for them. My dad does go to the dining room on occasion."

"My mother-in-law is a resident of The Pines of Goodrich. It is great; it is very nice. The staff members are wonderful. They provide around-the-clock care. My mother-in-law's room is spacious, beautiful, and very clean. Their dining area is very nice, clean, and accommodating. Their dining area is wonderful and more like a restaurant. It is a real gathering place. The food is good too. We never have to worry about my mother-in-law there. They're all wonderful, they know her, and they know us. It has been a real relief. The activities are very nice. It is pretty pricey, but it is worth it."

"My mother is here. It's an assisted living and memory care facility. We love it there. They were willing to work with us on the price point, that's why she's staying there. They do lots of arts and crafts, they have singalongs, and they have a local kids choirs that comes and sings to them. Sometimes they bring in therapy pets or dogs, and for Thanksgiving they throw a huge dinner for everybody, like all the family members can come. It's almost like a wedding reception, so it's really nice, and everybody can get together, and they do a smaller version on Christmas. They always have something going on. She's just in a single studio room, and it's medium-sized. It's got everything she needs. She's got a nice view out the window. It's in a nice location. Everyone I've met has been wonderful. They're all great."

"I went to Grace Senior Living Rochester Hills. It's smaller than most. It only has 20 people in memory care, and I think 65 people, maybe in assisted living. So a total of 85 so I think they're all about the care more than about the amenities of the building. Some of them I've been to have beautiful buildings, but I don't think they're getting as good care. I like the staff a lot. They were very helpful. The nurse came to our home to interview my husband ahead of time. I've never had that happen before. So, they could custom-make a program right to his needs. So that impressed me. And it's small. It's only right now one, the owner lives locally in Rochester, and so they only own that one and they're building one other. So, the owners are hands-on. It's not a chain. Like most of them, they have a couple of hours a day where they get together as a group and they play games or they do social activities together. They also have craft rooms they go to. They get taken down for entertainment if they're interested in the first level. So, they have use of the whole building. They can go down to the assisted side, but only with either a caregiver or a family member or friend. They can't go down there without them, but they have access to the theater. They have a movie theater downstairs, entertainment, a beauty shop, and normal things. I like the smallness of it. That's part of it."
