"My mother moved into American House. They're very friendly, everything is up to code, it's beautiful, and my mother is very happy with it. She has a 2-bedroom on the first floor, it's huge, and she loves it. They have Bingo, a pool table, puzzles, exercise, a TV downstairs in the living room, and they love to watch the ballgame. The have a gazebo right outside her room, people go out there in the evening, and it's really nice. They have a bus that takes them shopping, to doctors' offices, and to the bank. The hallways were just redone. They just put a breakfast bar in the dining room, and in the entryway, they've got a place for coffee, drinks, cereal, and pastries 24 hours a day. The food was delicious. The staff was very friendly, and everybody seemed to know the residents by name. It's right next to a Meijer's shopping center."

"This care facility is very well maintained. It always smells very clean, not like other facilities I had visited when looking for a place for my brother. He currently is a resident and he often tells me how much he enjoys the meals and daily activities. Also, the housekeeping staff and the facilities department have been very kind to him and have accommodated us with any requests for assistance we may have. The nursing assistants are very sweet and caring, too. They are very attentive and respectful to my brother's medical needs. Unfortunately, the only complaint that I have is that any updates on his health condition often have to be provided by the nurse manager who sometimes may not be as polite as all of the other staff that I've encountered. Besides that, I think this is a great facility! "

"The person who gave us a tour at American House Sterling Heights was nice. The place was so clean and well cared for. They had a lot of different facilities and things for the residents to partake in. They have single units and they have a model room for you to look at. It was nice. They had a common space for TV and a common space for lunch/dinner. If they didn't want to have the food there, they could be delivered to their room. It was a one-level facility. It had a porch that people sat on and took in the sun."

"Mom moved into American House Sterling Woods. First of all, it's pretty homey and the price is right. It's lower than the last place she was at, and the people are very nice. The staff and the residents are very nice. I have a little bit of an issue with the med team, but they're way better now. At this point, they're doing a really good job. But in the beginning, it was tough for us because the meds hadn't come in and all that. So it wasn't their fault. It was just a matter of getting the correct medications from the last home. But overall it's great. They have kitchens. The food is ok. They have all kinds of activities, and they have a salon for hair and a movie theater. They have everything."

"This facility is very home like, safe, friendly and clean. All of the residents are known by name They are treated with respect and handled as individuals with individual needs. My Mom lives in this facility and is very happy there. She likes the fact that because she is mobil they let her help out with simple jobs and this makes her feel useful.She also enjoys the activities and trips that they provide.She feels that her days are very full. "

"The rooms at Sunrise of Shelby Township were small and my husband and I were considering sharing a bathroom with another gentleman. It was very pretty, well done, and very clean. It just didn't seem to fit into our budget. We were there at lunchtime, so the dining room was very full of people. None of the rooms had any cooking facilities except a microwave and a small refrigerator. They had people in the exercise room and there was one person in a rehab facility, but it was the size of a closet, with not a lot of equipment in it. Most of the staff members were excellent."

"We chose to move Mom to Meadows Assisted Living and Care Campus because of its proximity to my home and my father's home and the price. It just worked out. What I like the best about it is that it's smaller, so I know that mom is going to get more personal care and so far, so good. The food seems fine. I'm happy with it and she's eating well. It's a nice and clean place. Everything about it seems good. There is a courtyard that's quite nice, too."

"American House East I was good and they were doing some remodeling in the hallways. So, the appearance was nice and more modern. It looked clean too. The staff who toured us was friendly and informative, not as great and as traditional as the other American House we looked at, but the place was nice and the dining area was nice. They also have a chapel there."

"My tour at American House East II Senior Living was very good. It was a very nice place and very well kept. I was quite impressed with the place. The people that run the American House are very competent. The people that I met there were very knowledgeable, very competent, and very agreeable. They were very pleasant. They went out of their way to show me whatever I wanted to see. They did a nice job. They had a lot of stuff there; they had different games. When I was there, they were doing a computer bowling. A bunch of people were doing that, and they were having a great time. Also I know they had entertainment there."

"Bickford of Shelby Township had a very much more social atmosphere. They had more activities and more ways for residents to get together. It was clean and welcoming. They had outside activities like outdoor trips. They have a barber/beauty salon. They have transportation. The staff was very friendly. They had a very good cafeteria style for dining. It was warm. They were having lunch and they seemed to like having lunch and being out of their room."

"I toured Oaktree Place. I was going to give them a deposit check, but then they decided my friend needed too much care for 1 or 2 people who would be there full-time. It's a house. It has four bedrooms. They have two people and most of the bedrooms would have been a single bedroom. They had big sofa chairs to watch the big screen TV. If they wanted, they could sit at the dining table. She would make the food for them. The one lady who made all the food and took care of their nursing issues. With other residents they had, my friend, would have put her over the limit of care."
