"American House - Livonia had a lot of activities -- they have trips to the casino, shopping trips, and watching movies. They serve three meals and a snack. I would give them a high rating. They were very nice and very accommodating, they answered all our questions, and I have nothing bad to say about it. "

"My mom has been here since April and for several months I was extremely happy with the facility, the staff was great when it came to the care of the residents. The only problem I had in the beginning was missing clothes and shoes. Recently the staff and administrators have changed and not for the better, I don’t understand why the change because the old staff was the best, no one is hardly available to address my concerns and the nursing staff is not as professional like the old staff which I wish could come back. At this point I’m looking for a new facility especially since they have increased their fees $200.00 and their services are no longer worth it. The only thing that is consistent from the time my mom moved in would be the activity director Bridgit, she is amazing and has my mother very active. It saddens me to see this beautiful place and staff in the beginning to change so drastically to the point I’m removing my mother from her comfort zone but I can’t keep her there. We had a life scare and Jatonya noticed she wasn’t breathing right called ems which I was told had it been any later she wouldn’t be here today. She is no longer there and that’s sad she was excellent at her job and I don’t feel this new staff are as attentive as the old staff, while I visit no one comes and check on her which they never know when we visit for this unhappiness I feel now she’s going to leave as soon as I find another happy place. I’m so sad to do this to my mom but the only thing to keep her there would be to return the old staff completely"

"American House Westland Hunter was gorgeous. The rooms that we looked at weren't occupied, but they were great. The staff was great too. There weren't any people in the dining area, but it was nice, clean, and some people were cooking there. I believe that those were the meals that they were taking upstairs. They have activities, a bus that would take them to the store, movie nights, and card playing. The rooms were small, but they get the job done."

"I liked The Westland House. It was clean and the staff was friendly. I showed up unannounced and the director was still there. She asked me a bunch of stuff about what we could do. Her staff came through asking her questions about different situations going on and they seemed to truly liked each other. They also offered me something to drink. When it comes to prices, they were the most economical choice."

"My aunt is moving to the assisted living facility of American House Southland in Taylor. I'd been there to tour it twice. I went first myself, and then I brought my aunt there, and she loved it. We chose it because it's close to me and my daughter, who is going to be her caregiver. It's a really nice place, and I really like it there. They have a lot of activities, so I want her to get in there. She has dementia, just starting, but I want her to enjoy some of the things there. The people just seem very nice, and they seem to be there for the people. That's what I really like, too. She will be in their assisted living. She will have her own apartment and take care of everything herself. What I like best are all the programs, the care for the people, and the menu for the food. I didn't eat there, but everything sounds so nice. They don't have a memory care facility, so we just have to transfer her when it comes to that, but they have one in another American House facility, so we probably can transfer her there pretty easily. That's the only setback, but I'm hoping that with her being active there, it slows it down. The person who gave the tour was very helpful, told us about things, and answered all our questions. They said I can go for breakfast every morning if I want to join my aunt, which I'm going to try because that will be a support for her, too. I also wanted to get to know the people there. The place was very nice, clean, neat, and quiet. I like that part about it, too. The apartment we looked at was not even done or cleaned up, but it wasn't in bad shape. There were just a few things that had to be done."

"My mother is at American House, and she loves it. We found that to be the perfect place for her. Her apartment is beautiful. She moved from her own personal apartment, and it's a shrunken version of her apartment, but not that much smaller. She loves the food. She is a little concerned about the staff in the dining room. They're not handy to pull out chairs or if she's trying to get attention for coffee or silverware. She's happy with the people who dump the trash everyday and the people who do her bed sheets. They have exercise, bible study, and fingernail painting, but she doesn't go down to a lot. "

"The people are very friendly and very welcoming at American House Southgate. And you feel like people understand you and what you're going through. You can furnish your apartment the way you want it, and they provide three meals a day. You also have your own home if you want to cook things on your own. They have housekeeping, too. You can go out and drive, and you can keep your car. You're having help, and in the meantime, you can still feel that you can have your independence. They play cards, they watch movies, and it depends on if the person would like to get out of the apartment or if she wants to stay in her apartment. You have your own choice. They're down-to-earth people. You feel like you've known them for a long time. They make you feel like you're not a stranger and intruder to come in. I spoke to the director there. "

"The Executive Director at Glen Abbey came in during the worst of COVID-19 and what were hard conditions in health care everywhere. We worked together through a lot of challenging times, but with her upper leadership team behind her, Glen Abbey has become a wonderful home for my dad, who will be there for 3 years in December. While a steadfast leader, she's also put together a great team around her. The kitchen staff care about their residents, the food is so good, they're the best! The activities manager does a wonderful job, from daily activities to larger events. The care team staff has only gotten stronger; the bar is always being raised, and it shows. The team is responsive to your needs and concerns. Nothing is perfect, but attitude and intent mean everything. I make sure to take the time to thank them for being such an important part of my team. "

"It was quiet, small, very serene, and very inviting. It's by far my favorite. The rooms were clean and comfy. The staff was exceptionally helpful, clear, and concise. I never felt like she was trying to sell me on the place. She even told me about other options. She's very welcoming and friendly.
