"I did a full tour at Symphony of Linden. I did talk to a lady and she gave me a pamphlet and everything. She showed me a couple of different rooms. That was in the main hall itself. The other ones outside were basically assisted living, and I told her we weren't really looking for that because she's been diagnosed with dementia, and I noticed it's getting worse. To me, it was kind of rushed. It was nice. The people were nice. I like how it's decorated. It's not just a plain Jane hallway or anything. I would recommend it. I know my landlord's been in there for rehab and he really liked it. It's clean and very friendly. We did pass by a dining area and it was very clean. We weren't there for a meal or anything like that."

"I toured StoryPoint Fenton. They're not all inclusive. They can give you a set price on one thing, but they have to evaluate the patient first. The other thing that turned me off about them is their community fees. They had a $4,000 community fee, which is twice what anyone else told me. For memory care it was a spacious place. The staff was very good. He was forthcoming. He didn't try to hide anything. He answered my questions to the best of his ability. The people that seemed to be in charge seemed to be friendly. They also told me that all the food was prepared onsite. They had their own chef. The place was clean and well let. The different rooms that we walked through were kept clean. In the bathroom they had their own shower, and I like that idea."

I was extremely sadden when we needed to separate my grandparents after 65 years of marriage, but when I visited Daniella’s all of my worries disappeared. This home is the most loving, nurturing, beautiful place ran by a pure angel. Daniella and all of her staff not only care of my grandmother but they truly love her. The home is extremely warm and inviting. All of the care givers take care of each resident with the utmost respect and love I truly believe that because of Daniella we have been given 2 more years with my grandmother which we probably wouldn’t have if she were anywhere else. I could not have asked for a better place for my grandmother to have spent the rest of her days at. "I went to The Avalon of Commerce Township. That's a nice place. The rooms are double the size of any of the other rooms of any place I was at. You could bring in a couch, you can bring in chairs and still have plenty of room. You can bring in a dresser. It's just lovely. And they have a different way of handling their food presentation, The dining room is set up for like five rooms that are in a particular area. And then the next area is going to a different dining room. And they move them around, which I think is pretty exciting. I remember him walking me through various doors to get to different areas of the facility. And one end is memory care, but you had to use a certain lock. It was just for employees. The other people couldn't open those doors. It was just to keep the people in a particular area. So, I thought the security was pretty good and the memory care people have their own courtyard, they can go outside. But in this courtyard is an interior courtyard and protected. I just really, really like that place. He told me that they have a routine. It's different every day, but they have routine things. When they get up in the morning and dress and so forth, then they might play table volleyball or something like that and then they do whatever they want and then they go to lunch, and in the afternoon they have other things that keep the people moving. I didn't like the exterior. It looks like a big manufacturing place. It's a big square building three or four stories high, and it's just not attractive. I was introduced to several people as we did our walk, and they were all just so friendly and calling the patients by name and being cheerful with them and responding to them. The staff in this place was very, very friendly. Every unit had its own sitting area with a television. You can have a television in your room, too. A lot of them don't let you do that. It was absolutely clean. The floors looked like you were going to skate on them. They were so shiny and clean."

"My aunt gets excellent care at Courtyard Manor of Fenton. The staff has been excellent. The dining area is large and very clean. The staff has always been very accommodating in getting the residents whatever they need. It's a very clean and caring place. It's a good place for us, and it has accommodated our needs."

"I would not recommend Cranberry Park West Bloomfield for memory care. I took a picture of the food they served my husband for dinner one night, and it was a cup-sized chili, a small croissant with such a thin layer of either chicken salad or tuna salad on it that you couldn't even see it without lifting the bread, and a juice. The facility was clean. The first thing they tell you is they will keep your loved ones safe, but they did not do that. I was just so upset that my husband spent six days in the hospital until I could find another place to put him, and when we got that done, he only lived about nine days and died, and I blame it all on the fall. Another resident shoved him, went into the wall, hit his head, and then fell to the floor on his hands and knees. I had seen him that day, and he was functioning as good as he always has. He walked, he talked, he ate, and he could express his opinions. After that fall, I went to the hospital and saw him in an emergency room. I could not understand him because all he was talking about was gibberish. There was no program in trying to help his memory. I went in one day, and he was sitting all by himself in the dining room. On another day, he was in the dining room looking out the window. Nobody else was with him. If I had to do it over again, he would never have been placed there. The staff was OK. They were friendly, but they didn't give him much help. All they did was babysit. They didn't keep him safe. He was a big eater, and he would eat anything, but when I saw what they were giving him for dinner, that's all he had. As far as personalities go, the staff was very friendly, but they certainly did not do a good job with memory care. They were not trained for it. The only thing I ever saw them do was play balloon volleyball. They had puzzles set up and Legos and stuff like that, but nobody was ever there to help them. I saw one lady who was working on a jigsaw puzzle by herself. I think with the balloon volleyball, it was just my husband, and when I came in, I joined in, but the rest was all staff."

"I liked that University Living was very clean, had activities going on, and the people I saw seemed happy and involved in activities. I liked that it went from assisted living through memory care. I was concerned for my dad because he has memory issues, so that’s one of the things I was looking for. It seemed like the care was very good there, and the residents seemed very happy. There were activities to help with memory because they specialized in memory care. The people there were very helpful, answered any questions I had, and if they didn’t have an answer, they got back to me right away after they’ve found an answer. "

"I went to Serenity Manor. It's a home with a max of six residents. They have two owners, and one of them lives there. She lives in the upstairs apartment. There is always two to three staff, so you have a great ratio of staff to residents. Currently, none of the residents are ambulatory. Most of them are advanced dementia patients and need to be lifted with a Hoyer. Right now, it's not ideal for them, but that's what they're getting. Right now, advanced memory care is what they're getting now. I couldn't even talk to the patients because they were so demented. It's a higher level of care and a lot of one-on-one. I think one of the rooms is shared. It's extremely clean. When you walk in, you were in the kitchen common area. Off to the right are the dining room and the living room, and then behind the kitchen is an L-shaped hallway with bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, too. It's very clean and very nice. If I had somebody who needed 24-hour care like that, that'd be great. I was impressed with the staff, too. "
