Overview of StoryPoint Fenton
We have a wonderful mix of people and personalities. Many veterans, business owners, farmers, government workers, and many in the manufacturing industry live at Provision Living at Fenton. Our residents bond quickly, and we become each other’s, extended family. Our residents range in age from 65 to 95.
StoryPoint Fenton provides staff for the Memory Care Neighborhood 24 hours a day. The neighborhood staffing depends on the number of residents who make their homes there. We ensure that we meet or exceed all required staffing for our Memory Care Neighborhood.
StoryPoint Fenton provides complimentary transportation via our wheelchair lift van to and from medical appointments. We also use our van to take our residents on outings to local attractions, shopping, restaurants, and entertainment venues.
StoryPoint Fenton provides each Memory Care Resident with choices and options for meals. Working with families, we identify “likes” & “dislikes” related to food choices and ensure each resident receives nutritious, well-balanced meals that appeal to the resident’s tastes. Caregivers take orders for each meal & residents join each other in a family-style setting in the dining area to share the meal. To assist our dementia residents in making their meal choices, our caregivers often use our picture menus to help them decide what they want to eat. Caregivers often share the meal with residents, providing a modeling opportunity that encourages residents to eat. As residents progress through the varying stages of dementia, caregivers may request certain types of foods, for example, finger foods or sweet-tasting items that appeal to the resident. To encourage residents to eat, our neighborhood Bistro is set up to offer drinks & snacks that residents can have throughout the day.
StoryPoint Fenton is designed to the latest in fire safety standards and life safety codes with a fully integrated alarm system that includes smoke detectors in all resident apartments and throughout the community and a remote connection to a central dispatching system. Our community is fully sprinkled ensuring even greater safety for residents. Residents are provided with an emergency call system that is monitored in a central location and alerts staff when a resident needs assistance. All entry and exit doors are alarmed and provide a greater measure of security. Our front entrance is locked after 7 p.m. nightly and requires a code and staff assistance to enter the community after hours. StoryPoint Fenton is also monitored 24/7 via security video cameras to ensure the safest possible setting for each of our residents.
We begin building great communication & information exchange with residents & their families beginning with each resident’s pre-admission. Our team spends time learning about each resident’s individual needs and preferences to ensure a person-centered, individualized plan using resident and family input. This plan is reviewed on a regular basis & as resident’s needs or preferences change it is updated to reflect changes. We encourage our families to ask questions, visit with our leadership team & staff whenever possible to ensure we are sharing information effectively. Family members are invited to our Family Council meeting where they can communicate with the community leaders & share their experiences with other family members. Our full-time activities director shares photos with families of our residents engaged in our social and recreational activities programs.

StoryPoint Fenton is located just outside of downtown Fenton in a business district adjacent to an industrial parkway.
StoryPoint Fenton is a pet-friendly community and we understand that our residents’ pets are family. Dogs and cats are welcome; however, must remain inside the resident’s personal apartment. Unfortunately, not everyone enjoys having pets in their lives and we must respect their rights as well as those of our pet owners. All pets must be leashed when outside the resident’s apartment. We request that each resident and/or a family member ensure the care of the pet. Pets are not allowed in the dining rooms at any time.
StoryPoint Fenton is committed to ensuring that our caregivers are provided with ongoing education and training. Upon becoming a member of our team, each staff member is provided with an extensive orientation process that includes both state-required training and additional training required by our community. Both new hire training and our ongoing continuing education programs include topics related to Dementia, Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Resident Safety, Confidentiality and Safeguarding of resident information, Safe Medication Administration Techniques, and Customer Service. Training is provided for staff through in-person in-services and online continuing education.

StoryPoint Fenton is extremely clean and well maintained. Their food is very good, and they have a great variety. The staff is helpful and care about the residents. They have good activities and nice entertainment. We would recommend the facility to anyone needing short-term or long-term care. My husband has a one-bedroom apartment. It's small, but it has a very nice living room with a little kitchenette, a huge bedroom and a great big bathroom with shower. They have some two-bedroom. They also have some that don't have a bedroom and it's all one unit. They have several community areas with tables and chairs. They play cards. They have jigsaw puzzles. They have an area where they always have coffee and snacks for the residents and guests. They have courtyards, which we haven't seen yet because it's been winter, but they will be open soon. They have beautiful furniture out there. They have a huge dining room and a couple of private rooms where you can have family in for special events. We have visited others, but found this one to be the very best.

I'm very happy here at StoryPoint Fenton. I am in one of the independent apartments. There are 10 independent apartments alongside the main building, and I am in one of them. I moved here for independent living, but there's a place that I can step down when that becomes necessary. I could move inside the main building to assisted living, or they also have a unit of memory care. The apartment I'm in is wonderful. It's a two-bedroom, two-bath. It is about 1,200 square feet, maybe a little more than that even. It has a two-car garage. I'm still driving, so that's important for me. I like the apartment. I'm hoping that if I ever have to move inside, I will be as happy in there. I heard very good reports when one of my friends moved from the apartments into the big building. She was very happy with the staff. She said, everyone was just really nice to her. She was comforted by that because she wasn't crazy about moving inside. She wanted to maintain her independence, but that wasn't possible health-wise. I like the idea that there are kind people waiting for me. I would like to have a little bit more activity for the people in the independent apartments, but there's a new salesperson, and he's doing better. So, they may come up with things for us to do. I'm still mobile enough that I have my friends, and I've lived in this area my whole adult life, so I do a lot of things away from the community. The camaraderie isn't as important to me right now, but I'm hoping that as time goes on, that we'll be more of a community instead of just apartments. I would like to see more group activities for the apartments, and they're moving in that direction. I think this new company wants to do that, so I'm looking forward to it. They have very nice staff. I do my own food and maintain my independence. However, if I would like to go in and have a meal, I can do that just by letting them know that I will be in, and then I pay separately for that. The food in general is very good. They have brunch once a month, and that's always very good. I ate a few dinners there, and I enjoyed them, and I've had a couple of friends who live there, and they always say the food is good. The facility is very nicely decorated, and it's always very clean. It's brand new. The main building has one-bedroom apartments, two-bedroom apartments, or studio apartments for people who need assistance. I could have rented in there if I wanted to, but since I'm driving, the garage was important, and I still like my privacy, so I would rate it very highly. The people who live inside the big building have games, card games, and board games. They have cooking time. Right now, we're short of a driver's license for the bus, but they're working on that. They have a lot of activities planned for it. They have exercise, and church on Sunday. They usually do that like on TV, but they have a minister or priest come in, like once a month, and they do call that a non-denominational service. They make crafts, entertainment, music, and singers or groups. I think the entertainment is good for the people who live inside, and I can go to any of those activities. If I want to go and exercise in there, I can every day. However, I don't do that because I exercise independently with my friends. But I could take part in anything that is planned if I wanted to. It is very expensive. I think that people have moved out because they couldn't afford it. I think they're all pretty close together. They all are high, and they all increase every year, but it is expensive.

I toured StoryPoint Fenton. They're not all inclusive. They can give you a set price on one thing, but they have to evaluate the patient first. The other thing that turned me off about them is their community fees. They had a $4,000 community fee, which is twice what anyone else told me. For memory care it was a spacious place. The staff was very good. He was forthcoming. He didn't try to hide anything. He answered my questions to the best of his ability. The people that seemed to be in charge seemed to be friendly. They also told me that all the food was prepared onsite. They had their own chef. The place was clean and well let. The different rooms that we walked through were kept clean. In the bathroom they had their own shower, and I like that idea.

I love StoryPoint Fenton, but it's too expensive for my brother-in-law. It's beautiful. The whole facility is top-notch. It is very open and welcoming. There is a huge gathering area. The receptionist is right there to greet you. They had the director right away, and they took me to a model room that was set up. It was a one-bedroom and it had a refrigerator. It was very, very nice. However, that was an assisted living senior community, and that was not what I was looking for. I was looking for memory care-assisted living. They would do an assessment of my brother-in-law before he was allowed to live there. He probably could fit into the assisted part of it, but that part was too big for him. It's all one level, which is good, but I think that with him getting himself from his room to where they have to go and eat would have been difficult, because the layout wasn't good for him in the memory state that he is in right now. I also went to memory care. It was beautiful. We walked through it. It was very nice. They have a nice little area where you could go in and sit by a fireplace and watch movies. The kitchen was right there. They only have 16 residents, which is nice. They were finishing up lunch when I got there. They have several little areas where you could sit down and have a conversation or play a game. The windows were on each side of a nice wide hallway. They showed me a room that my brother-in-law would have. It was a studio. Somebody had just moved out of there, and they were in the process of painting it and getting it freshened up for the next person to come in. It had a nice view out the window where you could put a bird feeder or whatever. All of his furniture could go in the room, too. Then the staff showed me where the patio was, and it was very nice. They have a grill out there where they would grill food for the people. It is also backed up to a wooded little area where you could see nature and sit out there. It was very welcoming and very comfortable. I told her that I would move in there myself right now, so that part of it was very, very nice. The residents that were there were more in line with what level my brother-in-law was at physically. He's very mobile, and he has no medical issues with his heart, legs, or lungs -- nothing. It is just his mind right now is having a problem. If money were not an object, I would have him go to StoryPoint just because of the aesthetics of everything.

I went toured here. That would have been ideal, but they didn't have any two-bedroom openings. They're excellent. I like the two bedrooms, two baths and it was just very nice. The staff during the tour was lovely. It was only one person, but we were exposed to others that worked there that were very nice. The common spaces were very nice and very relaxing. I didn't see any activities, but they were listed.

- Special Comment: Foresite Eldercare provides continuous, detailed predictive fall and health monitoring without compromising resident privacy and dignity. This makes it possible to determine an individual’s activities without revealing detailed characteristics, facial features or discrete body parts. Residents benefit from freedom and autonomy in a safe environment; families sleep easier knowing that Mom or Dad is always under the watchful eye of the Foresite Eldercare technology. Foresite Eldercare is a powerful tool for surfacing fall risks. The solution helps track health acuity levels over time rather than making judgments based on just one or two incidents. It also provides early warnings of decline. “When you see better, you know and do better.”
