"We toured Lockwood of Lyon. It's a beautiful community. The only downfall was the pricing, which I didn't think would be sustainable. The rooms were beautiful, with enough living space for a single person, and their amenities were very nice. There was a library and a movie theater area. They had breakfast and dinner available, and they also had a little snack shop with different things available. I'm not sure if you'd call it a snack shop or more like a small deli, but if you needed something for lunch, you could pick it up there."

"I've moved into Vicinia Gardens Independent Living. It's beautiful. The staff is happy and helpful. Everything's great. Maintenance and cleanliness are perfect."

"I love living at Lockwood of Fenton. Except for this problem that I'm having right now with the manager, the staff here is really good. They have different types of residents. I get along with everybody here except for about five people, but this is a big apartment building. I love everybody here. I help wherever I can, and they appreciate that. There is an activity director here; she is young, but the things she comes up with to do are amazing, and I tell her that. They will take the bus on a lunch trip once a month, they go for ice cream, and they go shopping. Today, they're going to Walmart on the bus. There are a lot of good things about this place. Good food, too. I'm in one of the smallest apartments here because it needed to be rented. The kitchen and bathroom are upgraded. I have a very nice apartment. The biggest apartments they have are two-bedroom-two-bath, and they go down from there: Two-bedroom-one bath, and one-bedroom-one bath. I'm in a corner and my apartment is small, but it's tolerable."

"We've toured Symphony Linden and it was nice. The staff was very helpful and the food was wonderful. They had a gym, a lounge, and a room where you could go and watch movies. It was nice. The place itself was clean, there wasn't anything that was not nice about it."

"I went toured here. That would have been ideal, but they didn't have any two-bedroom openings. They're excellent. I like the two bedrooms, two baths and it was just very nice. The staff during the tour was lovely. It was only one person, but we were exposed to others that worked there that were very nice. The common spaces were very nice and very relaxing. I didn't see any activities, but they were listed."

"My sister moved into Rose Senior Living at Providence Park. It's working out very well for both of us. And, I couldn't ask for a better staff there. They are good both to her and for helping me through everything. She has a one-bedroom apartment, the smallest one-bedroom apartment, and has very adequate space. She's busy with chair yoga and balance exercises, bingo, Rummikub, and lots of other activities all day long. She's out of her room close to 8:00 to 8:00. They have a lending library, a garden arbor, several courtyards, an excellent fitness room, and a separate physical therapy room. She's taking physical therapy for balance also. And they have a hair salon, chair massages, nannies and patties, and many movies a week."

"When I visited Brookdale Novi, I saw the room, the space, and what was available. Since it's independent living, they just showed me the package if I needed some help with anything and the prices were too much for me. They showed me a one-bedroom with one bath and its kitchen. The kitchen came supplied, but there was no furniture in the bedroom or the living room, which was fine. The staff was very helpful. The facility was nice and clean. It looked decent."

"I loved everything about Orchard Hills Living, but the only thing was they don't take insurance. It is out of my pocket. Other than that, the staff was very knowledgeable, very pleasant, and courteous. It's a private home with a yard in there. It's very clean and smelled very good."

"Atria Park of Ann Arbor is very warm and inviting. It's very clean and comfortable feeling very much like a home. The staff and residents were all very pleasant. It has four floors, so there's a central common area and two wings on each floor with all individual apartments. There's a dining room and a sunroom. They have a garden area in the back and then every floor has a common area in the center with a couple of little extra nooks. They have a library. It's more expensive, and so the people you get in there are more of the wealthier people, but everybody seemed extremely happy."

"My grandparents live in StoryPoint Novi. They are very accommodating. I always am able to go and talk to somebody if I'm having a problem with any service or anything like that. The people here are very nice, from the residents to the employees. I really don't have any bad thing to say about it. It's a nice place. They have daily activities and different programs. They have a two-bedroom, two bath, and it's really spacious. It overlooks the Jewish cemetery and it's really a nice view. The apartment is laid out really nicely to where they can move around. It's nice that they have two bathrooms, because if one is occupied, there's another. They have a pub, so there's like cocktail once a week. They have bingo. There's celebration of monthly parties. They do outings, they go to Walmart, they go to Kroger's, they go to restaurants, you sign up for that and it's just a lot going on so you can always find something to do. There's Wii bowling. They have ice cream social on Sunday. They have church programs for people who want to go. They do projects where they make jewelry and door hangers. They celebrate the holidays, like, for Memorial Day, they had a barbecue for the residents. They have the residents decorate the Christmas tree. For the veterans, they have a wall of honor. There are pictures of the veterans in the building and they have their pictures from when they were in the military and backstory on how they served or how long they served. It's just a beautiful place. They are independent, but they have 24-hour care right now and it's just working out. Everybody is always willing to pitch in, even when it's not even their area. You don't have to worry about your loved one because if they're out in the community socializing, if something happens, somebody's always willing to pitch in and help out. I haven't had anything bad to say about any of them because they're always there. They're approachable and always willing to help. They can have more food variety kind of thing. I'm not saying they eat the same thing every day. It's like a rotation of the same things. There's always a meeting where they say, like, what would you guys want? Or what would do you guys like to see? They're always looking for their input for new activities or things that they might like. My grandma can afford it and she likes it here, but it's too expensive for me. People stay because they're comfortable here. They like it here. They like the staff, and they like the residents."

"My dear parents moved to Independence Village of White Lake from their lakefront home in 2020. Throughout the five (5) years they lived there, I found Independence Village to be exemplary. I got to know a lot of the staff during this time. Beginning with the Exec. Director, who spends a lot of time with the residents, as well as late evenings/weekends on the computer. Sometimes things come up that are unexpected, such as Covid. But each and every time I found the Executive Director to be 100% honest, which was invaluable to me. There are a lot of "moving parts" in a retirement community such as this. The Executive Director handled it all seamlessly. She implemented a monthly newsletter (which I found to be very useful) featuring an entry from each Department Head (events staff, housekeeping, food/meals, etc) with current events and updates. The residents were encouraged to comment and make their wishes known! Steps were routinely taken to accommodate residents needs and requests. The meals were always spectacular! My mom especially loved her food. It gave her something to look forward to. IV allows the residents to choose their meals (the week prior) which ensures that it's always something each resident likes! Everything was fresh and tastey, with a variety of choices. The Executive Chef has been with IV White Lake for over 10 years. He often walks through the dining room at Meal Time to ask the residents if everything is okay and/or if they need anything! Special Events showplaced at IV White Lake included beautifully displayed food, from fresh fruit to roast beef. My parents really liked Chef! I was alone (and a little bit scared) when my parents first moved in and I needed help. Chef actually helped me with an unexpected issue regarding the toliet seat in my parents' apartment! I mention this to illustrate, shown by his actions, that he truly cares about the residents. The Events Staff is excellent! They go above and beyond to provide high quality events, that are well liked across the board so that everyone can participate. The Life Enrichment Director is often seen talking, laughing, and smiling with the residents. She and her staff frequently dress in costume for an activity and always have several props/giveaways to pass out to the residents. Again, she always makes sure that everyone is included. The Housekeeping Staff, headed up by the Housekeeping Lead, exceeded my expectations. She and her staff helped me a couple times when my mom was sick. On one occasion, I was signing out at the Reception Desk, holding a bag of sheets to take home and wash. Out of the blue, a Housekeeping staff member happened to be walking by. She kindly approached me and asked if she could wash the sheets for us. I was shocked and so grateful. My parents were in Independent Living but the Medical component of the Assisted Living wing is headed up by outstanding Registered Nurse, Sr. Wellness Director, who gets personally involved with day to day operations, caring and monitoring of the residents. And to ensure the family that their loved one's comfort and safety is being taken care of. And finally I would be remiss if I didn't mention the Reception Desk staff. I was always shown nothing but kindness and respect each and every time I saw them, which was almost every day. Their professionalism, warmth, and efficiency directly impact how a person feels the moment they walk in the door."
