"My wife has been at Westhaven Manor for three months now. The apartments are nice and the staff is really great and very helpful. They provide a lot of different services, but they only offer dinner and they don't have much variety. Everything else is great. All the services are a la carte and there are multiple different services you can get, so it's helpful for people on a budget."

"My mom has been here since April and for several months I was extremely happy with the facility, the staff was great when it came to the care of the residents. The only problem I had in the beginning was missing clothes and shoes. Recently the staff and administrators have changed and not for the better, I don’t understand why the change because the old staff was the best, no one is hardly available to address my concerns and the nursing staff is not as professional like the old staff which I wish could come back. At this point I’m looking for a new facility especially since they have increased their fees $200.00 and their services are no longer worth it. The only thing that is consistent from the time my mom moved in would be the activity director Bridgit, she is amazing and has my mother very active. It saddens me to see this beautiful place and staff in the beginning to change so drastically to the point I’m removing my mother from her comfort zone but I can’t keep her there. We had a life scare and Jatonya noticed she wasn’t breathing right called ems which I was told had it been any later she wouldn’t be here today. She is no longer there and that’s sad she was excellent at her job and I don’t feel this new staff are as attentive as the old staff, while I visit no one comes and check on her which they never know when we visit for this unhappiness I feel now she’s going to leave as soon as I find another happy place. I’m so sad to do this to my mom but the only thing to keep her there would be to return the old staff completely"

"We went to Ashford Court. It was a one level nice lobby area. We did see more people out and about, and that one which was welcoming, more people in the dining room, and it could have just been the time of day that we were there. The gentleman that showed us around was very, very personable, and very nice, very informative. They have courtyards, small patio areas, some apartments didn't have access to do, and some did. I think everybody had access to it. It's just some apartments opened up onto the courtyards and patios."

"I toured American House Southland with a lady by the name of Colleen. She was very friendly and open to any questions I had. Compared to some of the other places, when you walk in, I feel like I'm home. The staff was very helpful. She took me around the place. I saw an apartment that was empty, and I got to see what the cafeteria looked like. The staff gave me a menu for the month of June to show me what they serve. It's different all the time, and you have a choice of two different entrees. At the other place, they just have one entree, but at American House Southland, they gave you a choice, which I thought was very nice. There is an area where they can go for movies. They have a library if you want to get books. She also mentioned that you can walk around the property, and they are going to have a small gazebo by the pond where the ducks swim. I just felt so much more comfortable there."

"American House Westland Joy Senior Living was a very nice place. The people who I met were wonderful, especially the person at the front desk. She was a very nice person, and presented everything very nicely without being snotty. Their amenities and activities were fine. The rooms were nice and clean, but my husband felt there were way more women than men. The hallways were a bit narrow and the carpeting should be a lot cleaner. Some of the nurses aides and caregivers, when they walked down the hallway, didn’t look very friendly; they looked disgusted. You could see in their faces that they're not happy."

"I spent a year and a half in Wyandotte at Bishop Co-op. I could not afford to live there anymore because my rent was going up by $400. Different insurance companies bring in traveling nurses and so on. While I was there, there were visiting nurses all the time. However, I didn't get involved with their bingo or their outings. I was not involved with activities. I brought in my own food, and I did my own cooking. The layout of the place was great. The problem was that they were having problems with the elevators. When I was moving out, they were in the middle of overhauling the elevators. Most of the residents could not walk up and down stairs, and they were very dependent on elevators. Before, it was run by HUD, and then it was switched over to the State of Michigan. The State of Michigan raised rates, so there were a lot of people who were independent living who could not live there anymore."

"It is clean. It seemed right. He's getting help with his medication, so I guess that would be assisted living. He likes it; he likes the food. He's only been there about a month. They've been real helpful and with good attitudes. "

"The James Ferndale was very friendly. Everything was great. They were top-notch. It's luxurious because they have everything on site. It's perfect for somebody who has the finances. They had studio apartments, one-bedroom apartments, and two-bedroom apartments. We specifically looked at a one-bedroom apartment and it was very spacious. The lady that was welcoming us was super friendly and very helpful. She gave us some coffee. If I would have had the finances, I would let my mom stay there. The dining area looks like a little restaurant. The service was good."

"I toured here for my friend. It was nice and clean, and I didn't have any problems. I liked the fact that the staff was nice and the place was super, and I mean super, super, super clean. The rooms were extra large. I know that being there would be nice. I was surprised. The building itself was immaculate. They showed a room where you can play bingo. I would recommend that they check it out because it's nice."
