I spent a year and a half in Wyandotte at Bishop Co-op. I could not afford to live there anymore because my rent was going up by $400. Different insurance companies bring in traveling nurses and so on. While I was there, there were visiting nurses all the time. However, I didn't get involved with their bingo or their outings. I was not involved with activities. I brought in my own food, and I did my own cooking. The layout of the place was great. The problem was that they were having problems with the elevators. When I was moving out, they were in the middle of overhauling the elevators. Most of the residents could not walk up and down stairs, and they were very dependent on elevators. Before, it was run by HUD, and then it was switched over to the State of Michigan. The State of Michigan raised rates, so there were a lot of people who were independent living who could not live there anymore.
