I moved into Flat Rock Towers Co-op. I like the location because for me, it's closer to my church, to my family, and to a lot of things. So far, everything's been great. The neighbors are good. The apartment is very nice. I have no complaints whatsoever. I was really impressed when I saw my apartment. It's all freshly painted. They put in new carpet. Everything looks brand new, practically. I'm very pleased with all that. The only thing I wish, and all the senior apartments seem to be the same, they don't have any dishwashers. I need a dishwasher, and I need some covered parking, and I'm on the list, but they told me I probably won't get one until about a year or so. The staff has been wonderful and very supportive. They have a weekly bingo and a weekly Bunco. I haven't participated in anything yet except for the Christmas party the other day. The food was very good. Value for money is pretty good. It's subsidized. They're only charging me 30% of my income. I can't find anything cheaper than that.

Activities and events are put on by volunteers from the co-op which not only is a great way to volunteer and stay active, but also provides a perfect medium for meeting neighbors and making friends. Some examples include bingo, needlecraft, bunco, and monthly dinners and parties. Our service coordinator has educational meetings in the community room. If relaxing is what you feel like doing, then there are plenty of community rooms that have terrific views of the Huron River. Directly across the street from Flat Rock Co-op is beautiful Huroc Park which is on the Huron River. This park is well known in the area for great fishing, and has many gazebos located throughout perfect for sitting and enjoying nature at its best. We have our own gazebo and grill. It's a great way to spend time with friends and fellow members. While on the opposite side of the co-op there is a bank, convenience store, and pharmacy.

We toured Flat Rock Towers Co-op. The rooms are very large and have a lot of closet space and good safety features. All the amenities that I like are there. It's got everything you need. In the outside sitting area, there's a river right outside where you can sit by the river if you want. It's just very nice and relaxing-looking. The staff was so nice to me and my daughter. She just showed me everything and tried to explain everything, and as we went along with people that we kind of ran into, she would introduce us, and those people would tell us that it's a nice place to live. She was very knowledgeable about what was happening there, the bulletin boards, and how you keep up on what's happening outside like in the area, the churches, and stuff where they would have their bazaars. It was just lovely. I liked her. She made me feel so comfortable and welcome. It was an older establishment, but it was very clean.
