My mother has moved into Atria Kinghaven. She likes it a lot. It's been great, 98 percent perfect. They're very caring staff. They are very warm and welcoming to the family. They go the extra mile. You can tell that the staff is carefully chosen. They just love those seniors that they're working with. The rooms are nice. She's happy with her room. They all have a little balcony and they're accessible. She's done well in there. They have tons of activities, lots and lots of things going on, more so than any place that we visited. I've tried the food, and if I wanted to give them a grade like in school, it's about a B.

We went to Atria Kinghaven. What I like best is the dining area and the fact that they have like a theater room where they can go and watch movies and stuff like that. They were efficient in explaining everything and following up because trying to find a place for your elderly parent is not easy. They follow up, and then they ask you certain things that help keep you on track about it. They don't seem to be in big competition with the other people. They just want to make sure the senior is cared for. They have their own chef. They can choose what they want as long as it coincides with their diet. They do meal plans a week in advance, so you get to choose what you want and then they have specialties. They have a special of the day, but if you have something else that you have a taste for, you get to choose that. It's not just like everybody has to have the same thing. They have physical therapy, they have a beauty salon, and they do manicures and hair. Washing senior's hair is a big deal because as you age, you get alopecia or something and they know all of those different things for seniors. I like that they have a buddy system.

Atria Kinghaven is a wonderful facility. For the most part, anything that my husband and I saw or experienced was very good. Their aides are very personable, and they address the issues. They come looking for them when it's time for their medications. It's a fine facility. If I had to put somebody in there, I would not hesitate. They have everything there, exercise, crafts, bingo, and entertainment. They have doctors that come into the building. Almost anything is available there. They have people that come in and sing, and every holiday is celebrated.

My mother is in Atria Kinghaven. She's adjusting well and everyone has been so kind and nice. Her room is nice, always kept clean, and very roomy. The staff is very, very friendly, very nice, they go out of their way to help her and always check in on her. The food is good and the dining area's very clean. The people there are nice. My mother is legally blind, and they're very nice about helping her with stuff. They have nice visiting areas. Her sister is there also, so they're always visiting people when it was nice outside. There are different games and things that go on, and little activities that she can do. They make mats for the homeless, she's able to cut the bags and stuff like that, and they have music. Someone comes in and plays the piano, which my mother loved because she used to play. They have a very nice area outside with a lot of seating and shaded areas, and it's pretty.

My review of the facility is high. Cost is rather high but knowing mom is in good hands makes it worthwhile. My suggestion is if you have or see a problem, speak to someone immediately. They will deal with or correct problem quickly. Staff r efficient and friendly and treat the residents as part of their own family. If u have a special need or maybe just want a special treat, just ask. Staff will do all they can to accommodate you. Cannot say enough thank yous to Staff at this facility for their care of mom.

Atria Kinghaven is absolutely a beautiful facility; very nicely decorated and very pretty. They're not that much more expensive than the other places I toured, but their additional services that you pay for were not quite as exclusive. So that made it more expensive. The staff who gave the tour was very nice.

Extraordinary place! I went for a tour and I was so impressed! The staff was super friendly and helpful. I noticed that the apartments are spacious with larger windows and a lot of natural light that comes in. Super Clean! Lots of activities, transportation and the several care plans. I can't wait for my mom to see it next!

We only saw a sample room at Atria Kinghaven. They just had an empty room that people could look at, and get an idea of what the rooms look like. The rooms were rather small, we looked at 1-bedrooms. They did not have laundry, but they're in the same floor just down the hallway. They have activities daily. I opted for Atria because I wouldn't have to change my doctor or anything. We just sat outside in kind of a garden setting, but we didn't eat anything. The staff members weren't that old, 30's seem to be the average. They have transportation and have a 5-mile limit, if you're going 5 miles from the facility, you can get a ride there. I thought everybody was really nice. They had a nice common rooms, and the lobby was really nice. We spoke to some of the residents and they seem very nice, friendly, and comfortable so I thought that was really good.

Atria Kinghaven is solely independent living, and you purchase what assisted living services you require. Like we could purchase assisted living services for bathing and dressing. So it's nice that you can purchase the level of service that you need. They have a massive calendar of activitiesl they have eight to ten activities a day. They also provide transportation within a five-mile radius of the community, including banking, groceries, churches, and they also do outings and go to the casino once a month. They have dining nights where they go out to restaurants. Another thing I have noticed is that they have a full white table clothed dining area that's like a restaurant. There are waiters and menus so you have more selections instead of just two selections for the day, and there are many options. There's also a 24/7 market with beverages, juices, cereals, and milk that you could just go and help yourself to. They have been working with me trying to convince my father to make the move. They answer all his questions and they're having us come back for a second meal and to see one of the apartments that they have. They could use some additional equipment for independent exercising and equipment.

Be prepared to pay more, after 3 years they made sure the "care" increase. Not to hard, all about the money, I hope the new director never needs independent living, then she will look back. The food is a joke, spoon of starch, chunk of meat, more starch. Little fresh fruit and vegetables. I feel for the people that work there, some better than others, How many times a day do you need help getting out of a chair or help you walk down the long hallways? Your level of care just doubled, tripled, And we won't tell ya, Don't go there please......

My parents like Atria Kinghaven. The staff is very friendly. They have a little issue because sometimes when the food is delivered to their table, it's not what they ordered or it's not to their liking. The food itself is presented very well, but it seems like they're short-handed with staff because it takes a long time for them to take their food out or the waiters and waitresses forget things. The place is very clean. They have a lot of activities that go on a daily basis. It seems like there's a little bit of lack of communication between the staff and the people there. It's also pricey.

The best community we visited was Atria Kinghaven. It was excellent. As soon as I went through the front door it was so welcoming, because there was a group sing-along going on in the lobby and it was very inspiring. We had a private meeting with the director and she took us on a tour and I was amazed that the dining room looked so elegant. There were one- and two-bedrooms and one- and two-bathrooms. They showed me their list of activities and all the activities that they had provided for the month; it was just amazing. They have different things that the residents can do. They showed us the menu and they gave us a brochure wutg a copy of the menu in it and it looked like very delicious food. It's beautiful, from the outside grounds to the upkeep. There were trees.

I visited the independent living of Atria. I was impressed with the facility. It's a nice apartment with a full kitchen and balcony. I was very impressed with all of the activities they had for the residents. In the dining facility, people really sit down, can get a menu, and order what they want. It's not institutionalized, and I was very pleased with it. The staff was very nice and very friendly. I understand there's one staff for every two or three people, which is very impressive. Most have been there 18 to 20 years. If my aunt plans to go, this is where we will be going.

Atria Kinghaven is clean, organized, and much larger. The location is convenient, and the grounds are clean and organized. The layout is convenient and has easy access. The pricing appeared reasonable. The biggest drawback is that it's large.

Atria was a beautiful and wonderful facility, but it was way higher than what we could afford. It was very upscale, with large, big, nice rooms. It has a nice dining area, and a beautiful landscape for going outside and sitting. It felt more personal. The staff was excellent, very attentive, and knew everyone by name.

When I was at Atria Kinghaven, the place was really nice and clean. Their dining area was really nice. I was quite impressed with the place. They also had a lot of trips for the residents. The staff were very cordial and answered all of my questions. It was a really good experience, and I enjoyed it.

I visited Atria Kinghaven and thought it was fantastic. The design, the architecture, the cleanliness, the friendly staff, and the facility stood out to me. The dining area was excellent. They invited me to come back for lunch, which we will do next week. I looked at and was impressed by their activities calendar for the month. They had a lot of different activities.

Atria Kinghaven was really clean and well kept. Everybody seemed to be very professional. The issue there was they could not take care of my mother because she needed nursing home care and assisted living was not enough for her. They had a list of all kinds of things to do, like yoga classes, for their residents. I went to the dining area, the lobby, and to the second floor, but I did not visit a room. Everything was very nice. The staff was very friendly, very professional, and very willing to help.

I went to see Atria. It looked nice, but it did not have the help Dad needed, and it was more expensive. The staff was friendly and very welcoming. The apartments were clean, really good, and one- or two-bedrooms with kitchens.

I did not like the reception that I received from the people at Atria when I visited. I understand that sometimes people may get stressed in this situation, so maybe they were a little bit put off by that. It was way too formal and had a lot of add-ons. However, the rooms were great. Everything other than that would be what we were looking for exactly.

The things that impressed me the most at Atria Kinghaven are the staff, the facility, the dining, and the care services because they will be able to increase her care accordingly. The rooms are very nice with an efficient floor plan and adequately sized. From my mom’s perspective, the people are really nice and there are a lot of activities. When my mom and I looked at the activity board, my mom thought that the activities for the day were activities for the entire month. Atria Kinghaven is the most applicable community for her age because there are a lot of people her age who she can relate to. The residents are very compatible. I know she made friends and is really enjoying their company. My mom just needs assistance, not need any medical care. Atria Kinghaven is senior assisted living, which is exactly what she needed. This is a better community for her.

Everything is great at Atria King Haven except the food. Sometimes they come up with something good, but most of it is horrible. I eat there four times a week with my parents who are in the facility. We were quite impressed with the rooms at this place. I am really happy with the place because the people are very caring.

We did see Atria Kinghaven, and it was fabulous. We love it. It was a warm and inviting center. They were so pleasant to talk and deal with. They took very good care of their clienteles. We talked with residents who were sitting in the common area, and they were friendly. They told us how nice it was. We were just very, very wowed with the whole place. They have a courtyard where they had seniors dance that they called Junior-Senior Prom. The students from a local high school were coming over to the center, and they were going to have a party where they go out and dance with the seniors. Isn't that a wonderful and fabulous idea? They have other things outside too. The day that we were there, they had somebody playing an organ, and she was playing music for the residents. In the common room area, the residents were sitting in there playing cards. They also have tables set up with puzzles that were half-worked. It was all very nice and oriented towards everybody having a nice time. Some of the ladies were stitching up dolls for children where are burn victims, and they would donate them to the burn center. They were also making crochet blankets for others. It was so nice and community-oriented; they were trying to provide a sense of worth to the residents, so that they would feel that they were contributing to their community as well as not being bored. I love it. It was wonderful!

I have found Atria Kinghaven, and they meet my needs of having no steps. It’s right next door to the senior center and very convenient. It appears to be a very well run facility, it's clean, and I know about it. My mother-in-law was a resident there before, and I know that they have the accessory support that you need for helping you when you get it. She was there for a while, I went back, and it seems to be operating the same as when she was there. They have redecorated, and they still operate the dining room the same way. They have a barbershop, a medical office on site with a doctor, and a nurse that comes in. My main concern was getting something without stairs, and I am still able to. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. They answered all my questions and were very upfront about charges. I found that it was a very pleasant place to visit and get information. The dining room was a little more formal, and the apartments were slightly larger.

My mom hasn't been there that long, but they seem very nice so far. She has an apartment that is very nice. It has two bedrooms and two baths. As for activities, they advertise over 200 a month. Every day is just filled with activities. They have cards, bingo, and movie nights. They have trips to take them places. They had a Valentines party and a Mardi Gras party. They just have a load of stuff. They have the door locked, and it seems to be good. The only thing I can say is that a lot of times you go up the door, one senior citizen sitting there will open the door for you. They have very nice and real friendly people. We wanted a place that was clean and well taken care of. We wanted a place where she has a lot of things to do and where she can meet people. She was very isolated beforehand so we wanted the activities to get her out to meet people. We wanted to make sure that it is clean, and the food is good. It is a beautiful dining room with a fireplace. It looks like a restaurant. They have tablecloths and cloth napkins and it was very nice. I have eaten there a couple of times, and what I had has been very good. Mom has complained some a couple of times, but she is a picky eater. We each had a couple of meals, and we went in and ordered different items. What I had was very good.

Atria Kinghaven is very good. I just saw one room, and it looked adequate. I only met the person who showed me through the place and gave me some written information. She was very pleasant and very knowledgeable. I was looking for myself and for my husband. I think it's because of its location. It is close to our home. I am only looking for a temporary assisted living place. The location is a plus factor for me.

I visited Atria Kinghaven. It was a nice facility. Everybody seemed pleasant. I like it. I think it would be a good fit for my parents; they're just not yet willing to budge yet. The staff I dealt with was very helpful. The rooms/apartments were fair. However, they're coming from a good-sized ranch home to that; it would be small for them, but I don't think they would need much more room than that. They're not huge apartments, but they weren't bad. Regarding activities, they were doing crafts when I visited this place.

My husband is a resident of Atria Kinghaven for over a month now. It's very nice. He has a bedroom, bathroom, living room and a small kitchenette so it's functional. The staff are very pleasant. He has MI so every time he falls, they call me. They really keep in touch with the spouse, I think that's really important. Once in a while, I have dinner with him. The food is good.

My dad is at Atria and it is a really nice facility. He loves the facility and he had no issue with it at all. He was very happy there and they assisted him in every way they could. He gets a lot of help there. The facility has a lot of nice people. They really went their way to help the residents. They also have different events going on. That was a good place for him to be. It's really a wonderful place. If you could afford it, it's a good place.

I did visit Atria Kinghaven for my dad. It was a short trip, but they were very hospitable and willing to answer any questions that I had at that time. The place was clean. The residents looked happy. I wasn't able to check their rooms. However, based on my visit, I would give this facility overall a high rating.

The place is really nice and the person that toured us around Atria Kinghaven is awesome. It's a beautiful place. One thing that is good about the place is you can actually get two rooms and two bathrooms if you want and that's what my parents wanted. The staff were accommodating. They have all the activities that you can think of. They have movie nights. They did have Memorial Day party and they actually had a Hawaiian night too and that was really cool. Their dining room looked kind of standard. The place does not look like assisted living. It looks actually mainly almost like an apartment. The place is a lot more homey, so that what's stands out the most.

I am rating low for one simple reason. We moved my mother-in-law into this facility in 2010. They raised their rates 6.4% for 2011, 8.4% for 2012 and now 8.7% for 2013 and each year they have used the exact same wording for the raionale (or at least part of it). I quote, In an time when many companies are limiting employee benefits, we continue to offer our employees competive wages, merit increases, health insurance, 401K contributions & other important benefits". We're talking (mostly) about housekeepers, meal servers, delivery drivers (to quote their communication) ... good for them, I guess, but bad for all the residents on fixed incomes!
Provider Response
Thank you for your feedback. We always appreciate hearing from our customers and their families so that we can constantly improve the living and working environments for our residents and staff, continually striving to exceed expectations. While rate increases are never pleasant, it is very important to make sure that we maintain competitive benefits for employees to be able to fulfill the desire of our residents to have consistency in who provides them with care and services. I hope that your mother-in-law has been pleased with our staff and the quality of the services they have provided to her. I encourage you to contact us if you would like to discuss the reasons for the rate increase in more detail or any other concern you may have. Please email us at customerservice@atriaseniorliving.com and include the community name in your subject line.

Atria Kinghaven offers both independent living and assisted living. I have a client there. It's located in Riverview, an older suburb of Detroit. It's on a very busy road, but the parking is good, and they have a van to take residents around. The staff for the independent living part of Atria Kinghaven is very hospitality oriented--responsive and knowledgeable. But they bring in an outside team for the assisted living part. The facility itself is large--probably 75-100 units--and is clean and well maintained. They have a good layout and a nice dining area, and the grounds are well kept, with benches for sitting. The apartments are one-bedroom units, with a full kitchen and bathroom with handicap access. They also have good closet space. I haven't eaten the food, so I can't speak to that. But they have a full activities calendar.
Provider Response
Both the independent living and assisted living services are provided by Atria staff.
