From my first contact with Aimee explaining the facilities capabilities until the tremendous send off from my "New Family" with tears in my eyes I have nothing but respect and admiration for their help to start to get my life back together. The nursing staff has great diverse knowledge that made such a difference in my healing, the aids, and everyone from the staff kept me moving forward every challenge. I've made friends here that will make the balance of my being full of smiles. The physical therapy employees truly cared for my improvement and honored me with quite an ovation for my first step. All of you mean so much to me and I truly love the work and encouragement Jennifer, Patty and all of you gave to this old man in his time of need. Heidi, Ben, Scott, Jenny and all I look forward to visiting soon when I acquire my permanent leg. You folks are all truly caring individuals and I found the facility top notch!!"

"My mom is a resident of American House Milford. The experience has been very good. She has a washer and dryer in her apartment, which makes her very happy. She had a leaky faucet, and they were there the next day. Then the dryer wasn't quite drying, and then she made a point of telling them, and they came, and they fixed that. There haven't been any other repair issues there. The apartment is cleaned once a week by the staff. Four girls come in to clean it. They pick up her garbage twice a week. All of my mom's meals are covered. She is happy there. She is 92, and it has been a good experience. It's quiet. She hasn't gone out really and made friends yet, but the staff is very nice. We've had no issues at all. She got a standard one-bedroom. They have the one- and the two-bedroom and then they have the one-bedroom that's expanded. She is living independently. There are things that I can pay more for if she needs help. I think she can segway into assisted living without having to move from her apartment. There's an exercise room. There's also a theater room where they show things. There are quite a few activities. They have an exercise like chair yoga and what they call walk-about. They have a garage that's underneath the building. If the person drives a car, then the snow doesn't get on it, which I thought was wonderful. They just cleaned the whole parking garage. My mom also has a balcony. Most apartments have a balcony. Hers faces east, which she is really happy about. She can sit out there in the morning, and she can sit out there in the afternoon. She has some shade out there. They have a common dining room where everybody comes. There are two lunchtimes in the morning. The breakfast is continental. In this one common area, they have coffee all the time, and then there are some wrapped fruits like apples and bananas. They have a whole board right by where the dining room is that tells you what the activities are every day, and they have quite a bit going on. When I went in to visit, the guys were playing cornhole right there in the lobby. I thought it was funny. It seems like a friendly community and the people seem to get along. They keep the place and the people are friendly. My mom said the food that she has gotten has been delicious. She likes it. The building is about 20 years old, so it's starting to show a little bit of wear. They are working on getting things cleaned up. They're working on that, and I think they do a nice job. The value for money is probably comparable. It's about $1100 more than what my mom used to pay, but she gets more services than she got from the other place. Mom also planned for her retirement, so she can afford this. She is doing fine with the value for money."

"I toured StoryPoint Fenton. They're not all inclusive. They can give you a set price on one thing, but they have to evaluate the patient first. The other thing that turned me off about them is their community fees. They had a $4,000 community fee, which is twice what anyone else told me. For memory care it was a spacious place. The staff was very good. He was forthcoming. He didn't try to hide anything. He answered my questions to the best of his ability. The people that seemed to be in charge seemed to be friendly. They also told me that all the food was prepared onsite. They had their own chef. The place was clean and well let. The different rooms that we walked through were kept clean. In the bathroom they had their own shower, and I like that idea."

"Lockwood of Lyon is amazing but it's very pricey. It's brand new and beautiful. It's an all-inclusive community. They have two meals a day that's provided. Utilities are all included. They have free use of a gym. At an additional cost, they have medical staff and PT available. All their housekeeping and everything are included. The staff who gave the tour was very good. She showed us all the different areas there. She was very thorough. She went over the differences between independent and assisted, and they could move to assisted living there if necessary."

"My sister has moved into Vibrant Life, The Lodge of Durand. It was by far the best, as far as staff, pricing, and what they had to offer. The other ones were much higher in price, didn't seem to have the room size, and weren't as up-to-date as Vibrant was. I have no complaints with the staff or the food. The food is fine. The activities appear to have helped her; they're excellent."

"My mother was at OHM for a couple months maybe 3 Up to Sept 1 2016. We felt safe with her care there, The following are pros and cons: The owner wants to keep all unused rent if the patient passes away which to me is pure selfish and criminal, In other words Big places do not do this and will refund 100% of unused rent if the patient passes away. For example,If a full month of rent is paid on March 1st for the month of March, and your parent passes away on March 2, the owner will try to keep all of the rest of March's rent since it is inside the 30 days. That means a new patient will or can be taking over in the same bedroom for the rest of the month while owner receives DOUBLE rent for the same bedroom. Also when we talked to the owner about us moving out, the main focus of owner was all about making sure we pay for the 30 days after the move out notice.. That mattered more than finding out what can be done to accommodate our mother more. The food from what I understand was nothing special, I don't believe the clients were given a choice of meals. Maybe a choice would be too costly and inconvenient for the staff and owner. Overall the care was good and my mother with Alzheimer's seemed satisfied . The house was always very clean and visiting was as convenient as can be expected, The staff seemed very dedicated to providing personal care from what I could tell. The financial cost per month could not be beat from our shopping around. "

"We liked almost everything at Tranquility Estates. The people and the staff seemed friendly. The lady showed us several different rooms. It was very nice and they had a lot of common areas and outside areas. The rooms were very nice, too. That was my favorite. I love their menu. They had a lot of choices and they had a main meal every day, but you can also choose from a number of other meals if you didn't like the main meal. They had a range of dining times. They had like 4 to 6 p.m. They had a two-hour window for each time frame and the seating area was huge."

"All Seasons of West Bloomfield is very clean and it doesn't look like a typical place for the elderly. It's more upscale and vibrant. The staff is very friendly. Everything was just perfect for my aunt. "

"My dad has been admitted here. He is in memory care. He was able to adapt well. He has a nice little studio apartment. There's a TV, bed, and chair. They have nice meals. The facility is only about five years old. It's very roomy. The staff members check on the residents every few hours. They have some outdoor courts where they will take the residents so they could get outside without having to be outside the facility or parking lot. They have six or seven different types of rooms. If you go in, they give you the floor plan of each one. They have an exercise room, they have a TV out in the area where the residents dine, and they have a place that they call the pub. They also have an area where they can go and purchase different types of drinks and snacks if they like, and they have little tables there, and if the residents want to just sit there and have something without being in the main dining area, they can. They have a great program for the residents that are there. I can't say enough good things about it. The meals are limited. They're going to be low sodium and low fat. It's not a gourmet menu, but the idea is that it is suited to the seniors. They have a beautiful parking lot and there is a lot of handicapped parking right near the doorway there. In most places, their memory care is inside of another area. This memory care is a building that stands on its own, so it's the whole building, and that makes it nice, too. In most of the places I've been in, the memory care would be a locked area within the actual facility; however, this one is not. They have karaoke and puzzles. They immediately asked what type of interests my dad has and they try to get him involved. He's very quiet, but they got him out to watch the movie with the other residents right away, and I was very surprised that he's going to do that, so you can tell that he likes the facility."

"We toured Brookhaven Manor. The place could use a little remodeling. They won't take three cats. We have three cats right now and they're probably going to live another five years. We treat them pretty good and so we're not going to lose them for convenience. Their food is good, though. Their menu has variety, and the food is very tasty. They also have a lot of choices for dessert. The staff is OK, too."

"My parents will be moving into American House. My visit there was fine. It was pleasant. They took us through, and they answered our questions. They have an apartment that works for my parents because of their dogs. Their apartments were of good size. We had a meal there, and it was fine. They had bingo, a pool table, and a community area. We visited other places before, but we just liked this one the best. "

"I toured Magnolia by the Lakes. They were very nice, like a one-bedroom apartment, with beautiful decorations, nice kitchen cupboards, and everything you would need to stay for a couple of weeks or a month. They had a nice walk-in shower, you have the grab bars and everything that seniors need, very nicely appointed. The young man was very friendly. He did a great job. They have a pool and a lift that if someone has difficulty getting in the pool, then the lift can be used, and a nice dining area, just a very nice facility. It's very homey and it's designed like every one area is kind of like a European bistro kind of decoration and just very, very nice. The staff was enthusiastic and friendly."
