My dad moved into the American House Grand Blanc last month. I liked everything. .The staff has been very helpful. They have a lot of amenities and a lot of activities that my dad can be involved in. They have a free shuttle service. He gets three meals a day. They clean his apartment, take out his trash, and do his beddings and towels. He has a ground floor apartment. He can have his dog for no additional cost, and it's close and convenient to me.

I went to see American House Grand Blanc. It's very nice, but it's too much money. The staff was nice, as well as the people who lived there. But I couldn't afford it.

American House Grand Blanc was very, very friendly. It was just an older building, but as far as space, they had a lot of space. That's the thing I liked the most. They had different common areas and they were nice. It had a main common area and a main cafeteria, but I think when they're done eating, they must put a rope across it so others can't enter it. I kind of wish that they didn't do that. So, it gave the freedom for the people to be able to just go in there if they wanted to and sit with someone and talk, and have a little privacy there, but they had different common areas. They had a puzzle room, a craft room, and a pool table. So, that would have been one of my favorite ones.

My parents will be moving into American House Grand Blanc. It was a very nice place. It was clean and elegant. The people were very friendly. The residents were sitting around enjoying what they were doing there. They were going on a field trip to an orchard tomorrow and they went to a casino a couple of weeks ago. Stacey was the one who assisted us and she was accommodating.

I just didn't care for American House Grand Blanc. There were a lot of really elderly people in wheelchairs and on walkers, and I'm not at that stage yet. I just found it kind of depressing. The staff who assisted me with the tour was very pleasant and very helpful. As far as having any kind of physical activity, they were extremely limited. They had a couple of machines there, but they didn't have the room to have classes at all. It didn't feel comfortable that it was a place that I wanted to be in.

American House Grand Blanc was very cheerful. There were residents around, talking, and they seemed to be very clean and happy. The person that assisted us was very pleasant and was able to answer all of my questions. The cable and all the utilities were included, as well as housekeeping, and laundry facilities for your clothing. They had a library, a game room, and scheduled activities for those wishing to participate.

If I had to move to a place, I liked American House Grand Blanc the best. I liked the people that run the community. The facility looked very nice. If you're ready to live in that atmosphere, that's a perfect place to be.

My dad will be moving into American House Grand Blanc. It was more like an apartment instead of just a room, so that was the primary factor. The room is a bit older, but it's still clean. The pricing is what worked out for our budget. The staff was very nice and very helpful.

We went to American House Grand Blanc. They were very helpful when we went to visit. It was very clean and orderly. They were very professional. We looked at a one-bedroom apartment and it was very well kept. They showed us the facility, the dining area, and the community rooms, and they were all very nicely done. There are a lot of activities for the residents if they wish to participate. They seemed to offer everything that you would be interested in and then if you needed more care, that was also available. They have housekeeping once every week where they do the cleaning and everything, but then if the resident needs more medical treatment, it's available there. They wouldn't have to go somewhere else.

American House Grand Blanc was our 2nd choice for my parents. They're very friendly people, they even let us have dinner there during our tour. I got to sit down and have dinner in their cafeteria. We looked at the independent living and they had nice rooms. They're very roomy and they were the biggest I've seen too. They had 1100 square foot rooms. It was all very nice, but it was $800 more a month than what we're getting in their current place. One of the problems too is they were too far from the cafeteria where they eat. It would have been okay, but it was just way too far for my mom to walk. The staff was super nice and we liked the place, just too much money for us. The staff was very friendly and the food we had was great. I don't think their prices were unfair. When you're comparing 700 square foot living space to an 1100 square foot space, of course, it's going to be more money. Just that $800 more a month was too rich for our blood.

American House Grand Blanc was very nice. It was probably one of the older ones, but it has been well maintained. They're doing a little bit of remodeling and all that, so it was a nice place. They actually have a light daily cleaning of every apartment, so that's part of the package. It is pretty much all inclusive, so it's nice. What was good about American House also is that the Grand Blanc Senior Center is right behind it, and there's activities going on at the senior center also. There's a sidewalk where you can actually walk right to it. It was pretty maintained. It was nice and good, but it was a little bit dated. I've seen the menu, and it looked pretty good. You had options too.

My mother is in American House Grand Blanc. They prepare her meals, and I pay extra for baths and medication management. She gets the help that she needs. I like the location, it's close to family, and the choice of options for care is good, since they provide different levels of care. She's very happy with her room. The facility is well maintained, and the staff is friendly, very helpful, and caring. It's a good value for the money, and I feel comfortable with her being there. Her meals look good; she's happy with her meals. The activities looked adequate.

PICK this facility if your looking for a place that respects their guest and families individual situations!! American House Grand Blanc has truly became home for my mom. Due to health reasons of dad and mom needed home health care or to be moved somewhere with more daily support. We were scared and saddened about this move to this place. Wow - if we only would have known what a wonderful, beautiful experience this would become in their aging years!! It has been several years since dad passed away now and mom wanted to stay not move back home! She said, "what go back to a empty house without all my friends and this is like being in vacation almost everyday!! Such a blessing!! Mom enjoys her home at American House Grand Blanc!! Some other comments indicate needs to be bigger-brighter- cleaner- more helpful with medical care. Sure- just like their home or ours - lol- most need some improvement. Sure just like our homes - constant work- but it gets done!! Many improvements have been made and they continue with concern to make the building better. for the everyone. COMFORT of their spirit is worked on daily!! THe staff helps with more important details when the family is away then just a fancy place to put them!! Focusing more about the smiles, well being, food, activities and love for one another!!! MY mom was a great cook and loves the variety of good food she is served and many people that have became friends. After several years, really see the apartment is used for sleeping, bathroom and a little tv - lol - she is on the go with all the activities and trips to fun locations- staying young at heart and enjoying her life!! WE did check many places..NONE of them offered the different levels of care, good food, staff and care of the people that call it home. it is all about them :)) Help with their freedom to go.. Personnal transport or the many fun, interesting activities, trips - many places she would not have experienced with all of her children working fulll time jobs and busy with their children etc. "priceless" YES - American House Grand Blanc -

I wasn't impressed at all by American House, there was an odor, and it just need to be updated. I didn't like the apartments; they were depressing looking to me. It wasn't clean. The layout was very simple, and there was nothing really that I want to remember. I would not recommend this to others.

The staff at American House Grand Blanc was very helpful. They gave us lots of good information, but the apartments were a little small and the hallway was kind of dark. Everybody was very friendly and outgoing. They spoke to us when we walked by on the tour. They had a full calendar of activities, a game room, and a library. The location would have been very convenient, but their price was higher than the other one we saw. They also had a large activity fee that they charge.

American House Grand Blanc Senior Living looked pretty good and clean, and people are friendly. They have a pretty busy activity schedule, and I think they serve 3 meals a day. The staff is fine and really accommodating and even sent me home with an apple pie. We went to the dining area, and I was introduced to the cooks. They have a transport service for doctor's appointments, and they had laundry services and an exercise room.

The rooms at American House Grand Blanc Senior Living were nice. The staff wasn’t overly friendly but most of them treated you OK. The dining area was clean and good with good food. They had a hair salon, a little convenience store, and a library. They could get another beautician because they only have one lady who comes in.

I visited American House Grand Blanc for my mother; it would be my second choice. For my mother, the apartments were a little bit bigger and felt more residential. It looked like they had taken apartment buildings and turned them into independent living with community and dining areas for community dining, which created a nice community feel. They could make nursing services available.

The staff at American House Grand Blanc Senior Living was very helpful and nice, but I did not find it to be up to date and clean. It and the dining room were run down. I suggest they brighten up the place and update it because it felt like an old folks' home instead of an independent living facility. Nobody was doing anything when I visited. I saw two rooms that were being redone, which were OK and nicer than the older rooms, but the size was small.

We moved our mother to American House January 2013. We were very pleased with the friendly atmosphere, caring people and well cooked meals. However, in the last year the Medteam has changed crews. American House is great as long as your parent does not need the Medteam for many services. As Mother's memory fails she needed more inhouse services. I have tried the mid level services by the month and even though they were paid to do morning services, mother did not receive them at times. I switched back to meal escort and meds only. More than once she did not receive breakfast until after breakfast and by then it was lunch time within two hours. We have moved Mother out of American House as of February 2016. I thought American House itself is wonderful which includes Housekeeping, the management and Rod the maintenance guy. Med Team is not doing their job for what they are paid.

My father used to stay at American House Grand Blanc. It is clean and nice. The people are friendly. The food was not awesome, but it was doable. It was fine. It served its purpose. He was safe there, and he made friends. They could improve on their food, but their staff was great.

We liked American House in Grand Blanc. It was very nice and welcoming. The staff seemed very helpful. They were able to answer all our questions. They made you feel very comfortable. It had a homey atmosphere, and my husband and I thought that was very nice. We met a couple of residents, and they looked happy. The lady that walked us through introduced us to them and told us of the kinds of activities and things they were going through. That was very nice. They had bingo, and they were celebrating birthdays. They were taking a group of them to one of the dollar stores in the area and to do some shopping. It was in a very nice neighborhood.

The one place that I have been to was American House in Grand Blanc, Michigan. It was very nice, the people were very cordial as they took us on a tour, and my mom seemed to like it, but I don't think it's a place that my mom would live because I think she needs a little more help than what they allow. It is close to where I live, and it's in the community where I have lived for 35 years, so I am familiar with the community. A lot of the people that I work with had family there, and they had very good care, so I would rate it very highly.
Provider Response
Thank you for your feedback. American House Grand Blanc provides independent living with assistance - medical support is provided by a third party not affiliated with American House. Perhaps we can find an American House community that fits your mom's needs as well as ensuring its close to your current community. Please contact the corporate office if there's anything we can help with or if we can answer any questions. Samantha Pal, Director of Sales (248) 203-1800

That’s more of a senior living; it’s not for assisted living if you need a lot of assistance. They have a cafeteria you can go to eat and a room you can live in. The rooms were fairly small, but there was enough room for a single person. They’ll help you take your pills; they don’t go much beyond that. It looks like it was really nice. We weren’t there that long. We saw what they offered and what was available and decided that wasn’t going to be the place, and we left.
Provider Response
American House communities offer varied levels of care to include independent living, assisted living, respite care, hospice care and memory care. If you’d like to give me a call, we can discuss your needs and what community would be a better fit for you.

I am in an apartment at American House since February of this year. It is not very big, but it has a big size living room, a small compact kitchen, a nice bathroom with handicap facilities and a nice bedroom. The meals are furnished so I don't really do much cooking. During breakfast, you are on your own. But they serve dinner which is the biggest meal and supper. We also have menus for the food. I like all the staff. They have many activities. If you are able and can participate, they have many things going on throughout the week. I you have to live in a home like this, I recommend them highly because it is really a nice place and I enjoy here.
Provider Response
Wow, thank you for your high recommendation, Betty! We build our apartments to emphasize more "city-style" living with large common areas for gatherings and events. I'm thrilled you are enjoying living in our community, and it's extremely helpful for someone like you, who actually lives here, to share what it's really like here. If you ever need anything, don't forget my door is always open.

The American House Grand Blanc Senior Living didn't seem to be community-oriented, but it appeared to be a clean and a homey facility. The staff were less friendly, less open, and I didn't see as much interaction between them and the patients.
Provider Response
I’m sorry you felt we aren’t very community-oriented here, when in fact we offer many opportunities at American House for interaction among residents and staff - including our American House Choir, Tigers games viewings and other sorts of daily enrichment programming. Our staff members truly care about all our residents here, and our main goal is to do whatever we can to make sure our residents are happy. Perhaps everyone was having some quiet time when you stopped by! Regardless, I’d like to invite to stop in and talk to me or give me a call — and I can take you on a full tour to show you around our community. Thanks for leaving your feedback, Kimberly3.
Sincerely, Amy Wallace, Executive Director 810-694-7300

My grandmother lives in American House in Grand Blanc. The facility is pleasant. The building is large and up to date with modern furnishings and elevators for those who were unable to navigate stairs, like my grandmother. It offers spacious and comfortable rooms for its residents as well. The workers are friendly and caring. They routinely check on the residents and seem genuinely interested in their lives. When my grandmother moved in they were very helpful in getting her room set up and furniture moved in. Medications are delivered on time and workers are well equipped to care for people with medical needs. The food is not as good as it could be but it still decent, it could use an upgrade though. If a resident doesn't wish to go to the dining room to eat the workers will deliver their meals to them. The parking lot could use some work though. It has cracks and bumps in the concrete that could be dangerous for those who are unable to walk well. Overall this facility is one of the better ones in the area. My grandmother seems to really like living there and I feel comfortable with her there.
Provider Response
Paul_Schultz: Thank you so much for giving us your feedback! We're glad your grandmother is enjoying all we have to offer at American House Grand Blanc. As you pointed out, our staff is wonderful and truly cares for our residents. If you or your grandmother ever needs anything, my door is always open.
