StoryPoint Livonia is committed to ensuring that our caregivers are provided with ongoing education and training. Training is provided for staff through in-person in-services and online continuing education.

StoryPoint Livonia provides complimentary transportation via our wheelchair lift van to and from medical appointments. We also use our van to take our residents on outings to local attractions, shopping, restaurants, and entertainment venues.
StoryPoint Livonia's Memory Care Neighborhood is designed to engage residents and encourage interaction between residents and caregivers. The neighborhood is intentionally designed to provide “activity” stations that appeal to residents who are may wander or have repetitive behaviors. The neighborhood offers an activities table with puzzles, memory games, adult coloring, and painting supplies that residents have access to around the clock. The space is open and conducive to those who enjoy walking and offers activity stations for sorting and folding, sensory stimulation, organizing, and tactile stimulation. Reminiscing activities often feature a topic and encourage residents to share their experiences from a past time in their lives to stimulate long-term memory.
In addition to our trained caregivers, StoryPoint Livonia's Director of Nursing manages the assessment of each resident using monthly reviews, regularly scheduled individual service plan updates and ongoing communication with staff and families. Our team establishes a baseline cognitive level for each Memory Care Neighborhood resident during the admission assessment process. Residents are formally re-assessed and their individual plans are established upon admission and updated every six months or when changes are observed by staff that require a new plan to ensure resident needs are being addressed.
StoryPoint Livonia a provides each Memory Care Resident with choices and options for meals. Working with families, we identify “likes” & “dislikes” related to food choices and ensure each resident receives nutritious, well-balanced meals that appeal to the resident’s tastes. Caregivers take orders for each meal & residents join each other in a family-style setting in the dining area to share the meal. To assist our dementia residents in making their meal choices, our caregivers often use our picture menus to help them decide what they want to eat. Caregivers often share the meal with residents, providing a modeling opportunity that encourages residents to eat. As residents progress through the varying stages of dementia, caregivers may request certain types of foods, for example, finger foods or sweet-tasting items that appeal to the resident. To encourage residents to eat, our neighborhood Bistro is set up to offer drinks & snacks that residents can have throughout the day.
StoryPoint Livonia is not directly affiliated with a hospital system.

My mom lived at StoryPoint Livonia for the last two-and-a-half years of her life. It was a very positive ending to her beautiful life. I knew my mom was safe. She was well cared for, clean, and treated with dignity. Whenever we had a concern, which we did at different times, I was able to meet with members of the staff or the director. They got back with me, and the answers and changes were met with satisfaction. The staff was kind and respectful to my mom. They loved her, and my mom, for the most part, loved them. My mom had been to a few others briefly, and we liked StoryPoint the most. It was a very good experience. I was there a lot, and they knew me. I have only good things to say for my mom. My mom didn't attend a lot of activities because she was in a wheelchair and had oxygen. They asked her all the time if she would like to go down, and if she wanted to, they would push her in her wheelchair. They were good. The place was clean. She had a lot of friends that came to visit, and they were impressed with the cleanliness. The staff spent time talking to her. Because she was mentally alert, they got to know her well. There are things you wish you could change, but I never felt like she was not safe. She was looked after. For the price we paid, the level of care and things, it was good. The food looked good. She made friends there. The administrators were very kind to her. They asked her opinion of things. They knew her so well that if she looked sad, they would ask if she was OK. Sometimes, they called me. For my mother, it was a lovely experience. She wasn't thrilled about not being in her home anymore, but for our family, we were very happy. The hospice team was so kind. It was clean and pleasing to the eye. Friends and family said it was a really nice place because it's newer. It wasn't rundown and never smelly. The housekeeping was excellent.

I toured this facility. I think it was impressive. It was a newer building. It had an excellent floor plan as far as apartments, and the courtyard in the middle, which we liked a lot. Also, what stood them apart from all the others is that they had this special monitor that could detect a resident's movements and help if the person might fall or if there was maybe a heart problem while they're in bed that would record their heart rate. I thought that was a benefit that no one else provided. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Everything was modern and clean. I liked the system that they had that nobody else had. It seemed like they had at least the activities, and I thought that was nice as well.

It was quiet, small, very serene, and very inviting. It's by far my favorite. The rooms were clean and comfy. The staff was exceptionally helpful, clear, and concise. I never felt like she was trying to sell me on the place. She even told me about other options. She's very welcoming and friendly. They had activities planned, but I got the feeling that it was a quieter place. Probably the biggest amenity they have was a fall detection system.
