"My mom has been here since April and for several months I was extremely happy with the facility, the staff was great when it came to the care of the residents. The only problem I had in the beginning was missing clothes and shoes. Recently the staff and administrators have changed and not for the better, I don’t understand why the change because the old staff was the best, no one is hardly available to address my concerns and the nursing staff is not as professional like the old staff which I wish could come back. At this point I’m looking for a new facility especially since they have increased their fees $200.00 and their services are no longer worth it. The only thing that is consistent from the time my mom moved in would be the activity director Bridgit, she is amazing and has my mother very active. It saddens me to see this beautiful place and staff in the beginning to change so drastically to the point I’m removing my mother from her comfort zone but I can’t keep her there. We had a life scare and Jatonya noticed she wasn’t breathing right called ems which I was told had it been any later she wouldn’t be here today. She is no longer there and that’s sad she was excellent at her job and I don’t feel this new staff are as attentive as the old staff, while I visit no one comes and check on her which they never know when we visit for this unhappiness I feel now she’s going to leave as soon as I find another happy place. I’m so sad to do this to my mom but the only thing to keep her there would be to return the old staff completely"

"I visited the independent living community of American House Dearborn Heights. The community was friendly, and there was a lot to do. I liked the layout of the independent living, and I liked how they had a choice for a meal plan. I like the layout of the rooms, and I was happy to see a washer and dryer. They also have a full kitchen, which is good. The person who gave the tour was friendly and knowledgeable. I also saw their dining area, and it was spacious and lovely."

"Parkside of Livonia was very impressive. It was clean. The people working in the office were excellent. The big deal was that it's three stories, and to be honest my wife was very paranoid after we got to the third floor, and she was wondering about how to get out if the elevators weren't working that well. Gabby was the one we had contact with. She was very informative and very friendly. There were two questions that she didn't know, so she went to somebody in the other office and got us an answer right away. She was tremendous. They don't have food. Every apartment has its own full kitchen. You can order food out. They eat at the same places we eat. They're only five miles away from my house right now, and they're only a mile away from my daughter's house. All in all, it was an ideal location. We could walk to my daughter's house and have a nice afternoon. They have common areas. There was nobody using them, but they were spotless. The carpeting was clean. The trash cans were empty. They have a game room and a movie theater room, and they were spotless. The room that they showed was empty, but it was fresh paint, well maintained, and clean carpeting."

"Our villa is well laid out and has enough living space. Having come from a 2,200 sq ft private home, we could use more storage space. The staff is very friendly and competent. Our executive director is especially well suited for her role. She and other staff members have gone out of their way to service us in times of need. The food is good and on a couple of occasions, the culinary staff purchased food from outside when storms knocked out our kitchen. The cost of our villa (including meals and housekeeping) is reasonable and competitive. I highly recommend Independence Village of Plymouth."

"Newly opened (January 2024) and still very nice. Modern apartments with wood cabinets and nice counter tops, updated bathrooms and in-room laundry. The food varies from decent to good, and there is plenty of it (24/7 coffee, snacks/sandwiches, icecream machine, in addition to meals). Very few, if any, "add-on" costs. It is worth checking out if you need independent living."

"I visited this facility last week and I was very pleased with cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. I am most definitely considering Assurance assisted living to help with my mom. I feel like she would be in great hands here. The one young lady Kiara was very sweet and answered all of my questions. She even was even open to some suggestions I made and said that she would consider accommodating them.Over all it was a pleasant visit and they are in my top 3."

"We saw Allegria Village's independent living. That was not our intention, but after they told us we couldn't do assisted living for both of my parents, they said they are launching a program this week that's like a halfway between independent living and assisted living. Basically, it's like independent plus, so not full assisted living, but it offers more support than independent living, so that's the program we looked at. The staff was very friendly, and the facility was clean. I just really appreciated that the person who took us on the tour, who was the salesperson, seemed to know everybody by name. She just interacted with everyone and made every single person that she walked past feel important. I just thought that that was a really nice feature, and I never picked up on anything like that before. The residents that we passed in the hallways and out at the community areas all seemed happy and content. The only thing I can say about the facility is that it's a little dated. We saw three apartments, and two of them were fairly dated."

"I toured the independent living community of American House Southland in Taylor. It's alright, but it's not where I want to live. I would like to go somewhere where people are doing stuff. I don't want to go and just sit there and get fat. The rooms were beautiful and very neat. It was very spacious, but it's not for me. I think I'm more independent, and it just didn't feel right. I felt like I was in a convalescent home. The person who gave the tour was very nice. She gave a lot of information, and she wanted to know if I would be there for breakfast. The dining room was nice, and she said that they have breakfast and dinner there. They also have a little store that you could go in if you needed something real quick to make your own meals."

"I moved into Maple Heights. The people are very nice, like from the kitchen to the front desk to the girls that bring the food, or cleaning. They're all very courteous and helpful. You can have the meals sent up to your room if you don't want to go to the dining room. There's three meals a day and housekeeping. If you want to wash your own personal clothes there you can do that. The food is really pretty good. It's a little bit on the bland side, but I happen to like that. I cannot eat highly seasoned food. I have not seen a swimming pool. They have exercise classes almost every morning. They have activities that they do with the people. Then they have people come in and play music for them. They have karaoke and bowling. There's at least six things per day to do. They take you grocery shopping and to doctors' appointments, they go to restaurants, they have ice cream socials. Everything I have ever needed, they're right there. It's worth every penny."

"I like Brookdale Farmington Hills. My apartment is very nice and clean, and I got some place to travel, whereas before I was just stuck in a room. The staff is very helpful. Their food and dining area are very good. We can play pool, cards, and different games. I'm in a wheelchair, so I can't really get out to my patio because it's got steps. It's just a small, enclosed patio, so the bugs can't get in. Everything seems to be fine so far."
