"American House Livonia was very clean and very nice. The people were very helpful and gave us all the information that we asked for. They were very knowledgeable and they helped us out a lot. They took us around on a tour to see a few apartments that were set up, so we could see the setup of them. Everybody there was very nice and very polite. They also offer a lot of amenities. They have studios and one and two-bedroom apartments. They have a full meal service (three meals a day) and all kinds of activities. They have bingo, movie nights, and buses that will take people if they want to go out for the day."

"My mom has been here since April and for several months I was extremely happy with the facility, the staff was great when it came to the care of the residents. The only problem I had in the beginning was missing clothes and shoes. Recently the staff and administrators have changed and not for the better, I don’t understand why the change because the old staff was the best, no one is hardly available to address my concerns and the nursing staff is not as professional like the old staff which I wish could come back. At this point I’m looking for a new facility especially since they have increased their fees $200.00 and their services are no longer worth it. The only thing that is consistent from the time my mom moved in would be the activity director Bridgit, she is amazing and has my mother very active. It saddens me to see this beautiful place and staff in the beginning to change so drastically to the point I’m removing my mother from her comfort zone but I can’t keep her there. We had a life scare and Jatonya noticed she wasn’t breathing right called ems which I was told had it been any later she wouldn’t be here today. She is no longer there and that’s sad she was excellent at her job and I don’t feel this new staff are as attentive as the old staff, while I visit no one comes and check on her which they never know when we visit for this unhappiness I feel now she’s going to leave as soon as I find another happy place. I’m so sad to do this to my mom but the only thing to keep her there would be to return the old staff completely"

"Glen Abbey is a beautiful facility many different style apartments/rooms to choose from. My mom's room faces the woods and she always has a variety of birds at her feeder. She often gets deer at her feeder as well. There are also spacious rooms that face the enclosed courtyard. The residents love to sit outside under the gazebo during the warm months. There are many activities during the day such as bingo, bowling, and crafts, as well as musical entertainment. The staff is very caring and friendly. My family feels very blessed to have the peace of mind knowing that our mom is well cared for and treated so well by the amazing staff! I would highly recommend Glen Abbey to anyone looking for a wonderful place for their love one to live!"

"I had a nice visit to the American House Southland. They were very kind and showed me everything. The rooms were nice and clean. Everything seemed to be well organized. We spoke to one lady who was very helpful and very kind. The layout was good, if you're looking for assisted living; it's just not what my mom and her husband was looking for."

"I did a tour of Allegria Village and they were great. They were very informative and very friendly. I just didn't like the facility. It's not that there is anything wrong with it, but I did not feel that my dad would get the care he needed there because he would be put in a room. They were saying there's a call button and all this stuff, but a patient with dementia is not going to know to use a call button if they needed something. I thought he would be a fall risk there, and if he would soil himself that he would not get changed in a reasonable amount of time just because of the way it was set up. They have a one to ten ratio, at best, for the residents. But they were wonderful, and they were very informative. They were great with the tour; I just didn't feel that it was the right facility for him. I don't have anything negative to say, it was just a personal decision on what I wanted. I wanted more care for my father than they can provide, so they didn't do anything wrong. It looked like all the residents were well taken care of there. It's a very nice facility. It was just too big for what I wanted. I saw they were playing games with them; they're playing bingo or something. It looks like they have activities for them. They mentioned there was an outdoor facility, but I didn't get to see that. The rooms were nice, but I didn't see much. They had a little room for that in the memory care unit. They had TVs, fidget boards, and stuff for the people with dementia; that was nice."

"My mother is in American House Westland Joy. It's a good place for independent living. They do meal delivery, which is very good, but other assistance is not very good. They're very nice people. She's supposed to be assisted living. I didn't know my mom would need more care because she was independent at her home. When I moved her there, I thought she would be able to get used to the place, but she can't find her way out of her room and down to the dining room, or activities or anything. She's kind of trapped in her room pretty much. My sister and I would come every day, but she wouldn't remember. I have all her meals delivered up to the door. They don't have somebody checking on people. She needs more like a babysitter-type person, and they don't have anything like that there. It isn't a good fit for her. It's a very good place for independent living, though, and they have nice activities. They have some assistance, i.e., you can pay for medicine or shower and that sort of thing, but mostly their people are all independent there. It just didn't work out for my mom. The staff is very nice. The food is good. Mom can't find her way down there, so they always come and knock on the door and say, "We're going to have bingo in another ten minutes" or whatever, and then she says, "OK, thank you." There isn't anybody to assist them down. If they had somebody to assist people, it would be better. We had trouble with a lot of different things. Right now, we can't regulate the heat in the room. It's 82 degrees in her room and I've been trying to call for the past month and get that straightened out, also the shower, and the leak in the kitchen, and all that. The elevators are no good. It's not as expensive as a lot of other places I've seen."

"I moved my mom into Crystal Creek after I was referred to them by the nursing home social worker. I was nervous at first, but things have gone smoothly. Staff has gone out of their way to make my mom feel welcome. From the ice cream sundaes, to the arts and crafts and care she receives, my mom has improved so much from when she was in the nursing home. I was not looking forward to mother's day this year, but when I arrived and met mom with her hair curled, flower in her hair and her Sunday best dress, I realized my mom had found her new home, and I could go back to being her son and not her caregiver. "

"I visited and they were fabulous. My only problem with them is that they don't have memory care yet. The staff, Kate and Kristen, were both very good. The place was very nice, and that is actually where we were planning on putting my mom and her partner, but they have everything but memory care. The facility was beautiful; it was outstanding everywhere. The location would have been convenient for all of my family members. It would be easy to get to, and the parking was large enough if we visit."

"I toured Bickford of Canton and had a very good experience. It was a beautiful place. They were very helpful in explaining all their different services. We walked around the assisted living and memory care and were able to see that they were actively doing their services. The rooms were very clean and appropriate for the residents' needs. They provide 24/7 assistance and some activities to engage with the residents. Some were playing cards while some were doing some memory activities in another section."

"Sunrise of Northville was great. It was very nice. The seniors there always seemed like they were busy doing something. They have programs that they enjoyed. They're on top of the care and the needs that had to be met for all the seniors living there. It was very well kept, clean, and well organized. They had a lot of activities for the residents. They had a salon, movies, and a library. They're located close to shopping centers and hospitals."

"It was very neat and clean. The staff was extremely friendly, and they always say hello if you pass them in the hallways. The dining room looked very nice and they showed me three different styles of apartments which were all nice, clean, well laid out and handicap-accessible. The nice thing is that if their memory declines, they won't have to move out because it's also a memory care facility. They have a salon, physicians who go to the facility, and a podiatrist for foot care. They would also arrange for any kind of physical or occupational therapy that the residents might need."
