"The grounds of the facilities were very pretty and well-kept. There were many plants and flowers. The staff my parents and I interacted with were quite helpful and patient with addressing any concerns we had. We did have one experience where a staff member was impatient with us when we were asking questions while they were having a busy day. Generally, everyone was very helpful. Moving my grandfather in was a trying decision, and the staff did all the could to make it easier. When moving in, the neighbors came over to introduce themselves. It was a friendly community. My grandfather was unhappy at having to move to an assisted living community, but had no complaints with the community itself. The staff tried to insure that he did not feel helpless or "baby-ed," instead emphasizing that this was a natural progression of a living situation as one ages. Overall, I would recommend American House to others. "

"My in-laws are staying at Westhaven Manor. They staff is active in dispensing medication to the people as well as on some of the meal plans. My parents-in-law's apartment is nice and they have a full kitchen. My interaction with the staff has been fine."

"Parkside of Livonia was very impressive. It was clean. The people working in the office were excellent. The big deal was that it's three stories, and to be honest my wife was very paranoid after we got to the third floor, and she was wondering about how to get out if the elevators weren't working that well. Gabby was the one we had contact with. She was very informative and very friendly. There were two questions that she didn't know, so she went to somebody in the other office and got us an answer right away. She was tremendous. They don't have food. Every apartment has its own full kitchen. You can order food out. They eat at the same places we eat. They're only five miles away from my house right now, and they're only a mile away from my daughter's house. All in all, it was an ideal location. We could walk to my daughter's house and have a nice afternoon. They have common areas. There was nobody using them, but they were spotless. The carpeting was clean. The trash cans were empty. They have a game room and a movie theater room, and they were spotless. The room that they showed was empty, but it was fresh paint, well maintained, and clean carpeting."

"The medical team and all the staff have everything covered. From the housekeeping and everything, they're all-inclusive. So far, the staff is pleasant and informing. My mother's room is almost complete, they've done some work with the painting and everything so things are almost in order. They're starting to do a few activities but they're still on lockdown because of the virus."

"We chose it because we liked it, and they took dad. The staff was very, very helpful and that helped make our decision. They offer diffferent things there; he has therapy that is right in-house, and they have the additional care that they assist with whatever he needs. His apartment is very nice. I know they have quite a few activities. I know he has done some arts and crafts. They've had people come in that sing and he has enjoyed that as well. "

"My father-in-law has been in here for about a month and a half now. The food is good. The people take care of him and he is happy to be there. The facility is very nice. It felt like a hotel when I walked in there for the first time. It's been good so far. "

"Rose Senior Living would rank the highest. I toured everything but memory care. Mainly, I looked at the assisted there. It was very nice, and it was a newer facility. I thought the layout of the rooms was really nice. They had a library, and they had a lounge with music and stuff. The cafeteria was really nice. It was more laid out like a dining room not cafeteria-ish. The staff was wonderful. The menu looked really good."

"I saw American House Farmington Hills. It was very clean, and it seemed pretty well organized. The lady that I talked to was nice, and she took me on a tour, and that was good. The rooms inside were very, very good, but it was a little bit smaller than the other place. The lady didn't ask me for $500 to go on a waitlist, and she was right to the point. "We thought we had a room for you." I guess somebody within their facility wanted to upgrade to the two bedroom, and I'm trying to get a two bedroom. I didn't get to see the whole facility. It looked very, very small to me, but I did not see anything in the back where they had a lot of things going on. From what I could tell, it looked very well kept up."

"I wasn't happy with Lockwood of Lyon because they've reduced the quantity and quality of the meals. I spoke with the administrator and with the head chef, and she has agreed to review the exact meals that I was complaining about and she also assured me that she will investigate the quality of the meats that we are getting. It's rather nice because it's set way back off the road on a large parcel of land, so we have a curving drive into the development. It's a very large apartment complex. We are on the very back corner, southwest, and we face small woods. It's nice because we have a lot of wildlife. Last night we had two deer in the yard, this morning, several rabbits, and a ton of birds. It's really like being out in the country. They have a rather small staff. There are two ladies who are cleaners, and they clean extensively long hallways. They also do minimal cleaning in all the rooms, if you want, or you can pass on the cleaning. The hallways are not carpeted. They are simulated wood on plastic tiles, so that we don't have the problem of the nasty carpets that some of the places are showing bad wear. We have a 12-passenger van that will take you shopping around the area and also to the banking center of the community every week. Once or twice a month, we do either a men's group or a women's group to a restaurant or even the mixed group. Everything is here in this community, so it's very nice even if you don't have a vehicle."

"When I visited Brookdale Novi, I saw the room, the space, and what was available. Since it's independent living, they just showed me the package if I needed some help with anything and the prices were too much for me. They showed me a one-bedroom with one bath and its kitchen. The kitchen came supplied, but there was no furniture in the bedroom or the living room, which was fine. The staff was very helpful. The facility was nice and clean. It looked decent."

"I did a tour of Lakeside Assurance Assisted Living. It was a private residence converted into a facility. It has a total of four residents; there were two that were there and there were two open rooms. It was laid out well for a conversion, and it had a common area that was set up that was very roomy. The facility was laid out nicely. There was a part of the facility that was still being developed into a guest room that was under development, but the rest of the place was set up nicely. It was very clean, and it had a cook that prepared the meals, taking into consideration dietary requirements. The administrator that we met with, Brenda, was very detailed in explaining why she started the facility. Her mother had dementia, and she was struggling with having her in a big facility. She decided to develop this, so she would know about her mother's care and everything. She had a connection with a physician and a podiatrist who would visit regularly. The meals and the laundry in the room are all included. Then it would accommodate my sister's furniture, so that was nice. I think she had to have familiar surroundings. I think they could accommodate both assisted living and memory care, but right at that time, it seemed like the residents that were there were dementia patients. We only met with Brenda, and she's seemed very compassionate, caring, and concerned about details about my sister. What kind of activity level she was? Is she verbal at all? Did she interact with people? I thought that was very positive. I think she would be engaged with my sister. It's still under construction partially, but the part that we saw, she set it up very specific to taking care of the residents."
