"I had a total knee replacement in January 2017 and I had my Skilled Nursing Care at Marycrest Campus in Livonia, MI. I received the best of care at this wonderful facility. The staff is top notch and very attentive!! Everyone that I met and came in contact with was awesome!! I would highly recommend this facility!! :-) :-) "

"This is a skilled nursing facility that's part of a continuing care retirement community (CCRC). I've had clients there and know it well. The skilled nursing unit is part of a big campus of independent living and care facilities--about 30 or 35 miles northwest of Detroit city center. The facility itself is nice, fairly new, with wide hallways and lots of windows. It has a bright, open, airy feeling. The rooms are a good size, and there are usually two to a room. The staff is accommodating, welcoming, and well trained. About the only real downside is the food. It's institutional: bland fare--cottage cheese, jello, that kind of thing. But overall, this facility is one of the the top choices for skilled nursing in the area. And because it's part of a CCRC, it's convenient for residents who suddenly find themselves in need of skilled nursing care. "

"I toured Beaumont Commons, Dearborn. I thought it was an easy five stars. I know a resident that lives there. I toured it with him, and it was a community. I could see the association and the fellowship with the other residents. I thought it was nice. It's something that I was hoping that my sister could get into, but I don't know how that one is structured for finances. The staff members were definitely visible. They seemed to be very attentive to their responsibilities, and they seemed to be very available to the residents. I saw my friend's apartment, and some of the rooms. I was pleased with what I saw. They had their own movie theater. They had a little grocery store, gift shop, dining room, and a winery. They had quite a few things. I thought the food was very well prepared. The dining area was five-star hotel level. It was very well maintained."

"I moved to Victoria Square. I like that it's senior living, so you're dealing with just seniors. They have a great community where they do things in their lobby or a little get-together at certain times. I like that it's secured where you need a key or be buzzed in, and no one can walk into your building. I also like that, in senior living, they cap you at a certain amount depending on your status, as far as you can pay, so they can't increase your rent like if you were in a regular apartment. The staff is pleasant. They have bingo and programs. They keep the facility clean and have maintenance people come through. I like that they have garbage storage on each floor and make sure to clean them daily so you don't smell anything throughout the building. As for the value, it's average. It's not a bad price for what you're getting."

"We’re very pleased so far. Everything is going well, and they seemed to be attentive to their patients. The number of patients is smaller than other places, which is a good thing. We love the fact that we pay a flat fee instead of getting charged for everything dad needs. Dispersing medication is a big thing for us, and that’s a part of every one of Windemere’s levels of care. My brother has eaten there, and he said the food is pretty good. The place itself is very nice, new, and clean. My only comment is it’s on a slab, so the temperature gets a little off-kilter at times. They have activities for the residents. The reason we selected this community was because of its all-inclusive pricing"

"I'm in Waltonwood University. It's fine. There's nothing wrong with it at all. It's beautiful. I got a good deal. I got a thousand dollars off my rent, so I got exactly what I wanted. The staff is perfect. I have no problems. It's very clean. The rooms are very spacious to me, at least on the independent side. There is lots of closet space. The dining area is good. It's not like you're going to a very expensive restaurant, but it's OK. You get a Continental breakfast in the morning and then you get a full meal at night. The food is average. They have lots of activities, except we don't have a bus driver to go to different places outside right now. The bus driver has retired. They have an exercise room and they do different types of exercises, like balance exercises. They do light chair exercises, stretching exercises, and those kinds of things. If you get a special, it's worth it, because it would almost cost you as much to live in an apartment around here when you get down to buying food and everything else. At least they give you two choices, but they could have a little bit more food."

"My mother-in-law didn't like Silver Maples of Chelsea. She thought it was way too expensive and it was too hoity-toity for her. She is a little bit more down to earth. The layout was extremely nice. It's a very nice community, but for the price they want to charge, it's not worth it. They wanted too much. The staff was very pleasant. It's spotless, it's a very nice place, and it's very clean, but it's just too expensive."

"Rivers Grosse Pointe is good and they're doing what they promised to do. I have no complaints. The services are good. It's very clean. The rooms are spacious and nice. It's very well-kept. Their physical therapy is good. My brother has already moved in."

"I did a tour of the Hampton Manor of Clinton. The staff was very pleasant and knowledgeable. But overall, the facility had much more of a clinical setting, and they didn't have as much to offer as far as the medical care side of it. They weren't going to be able to meet the medical needs of my mother. They have a hair salon, and a movie room set up with nice, reclining chairs and projection TV if you want to watch a movie. They had a conference room available for a family if you wanted to have a family gathering or meal there together. They had a conference room with a big table that could be used for that. The staff didn't tell us much about other activities. They didn't seem to have a lot of planned activities with games, community gatherings, and stuff like that. There was no problem with the tour. They showed us all of the extra rooms, each different room that was available; so that was all fine. The dining area was small, dark, and not very inviting. I don't know about the food, but the atmosphere, the area itself was not very friendly looking. It's a brand-new facility."
