"All I can say is everything is good at American House Westland. I have no negatives to say about it. The rooms were very a good size. The menu was good, as well as the food. The staff seemed like they go above and beyond. The residents get along well together and are very supportive of each other. It was a very nice and pleasant experience. They are doing some construction, and they are changing and upgrading the place. They are improving the place. "

"We went to Maple Heights. It was nice. It was our second favorite place out of all of the places that we visited for my father. It was very comfortable. The room was nice. They wanted people to do things, but I didn't think that they offered as many things to do community-wise as the other facility did. They had things on their calendar but for me, it wasn't the things that involved the residents with the community. They would go the grocery store one day a week, they do banking every week, and they do little trips around. They did say if the residents have some place that they would like to go, then they would put that on the calendar for them. They were accommodating, but it wasn't as friendly an environment. Inside their facility, their dining room looked nice, but the dining room at the other facility looked like a 5-star hotel dining room. When we looked at the rooms for my dad with his thoughts in mind, he was going to be on the 9th or the 10th floor, but we really wanted him on the 1st floor. This facility doesn't have 1st floor apartments. They start off on the 3rd floor and go up with all of their apartments. The first two floors were common areas for all the residents. The food menus looked wonderful; I was very impressed. Their staff was a 5, and the whole place I would rate a 4. It was still very nice but not as nice as the other facility. The staff was very friendly. They bent over backward to talk to us and to answer all of our questions. They were very enthused with their site. They were very accommodating. They wanted us to feel welcome, and they wanted us to feel that we would be very a good part of their community. "

"Moving my parents into Hampton Manor of Woodhaven was the best decision we ever made. The staff truly care about the residents and treat them like family. The building is always clean, warm, and welcoming, and my parents have settled in so well. They’re happy, comfortable, and well cared for — and that gives our whole family peace of mind. I’m so thankful for everyone there who makes this place feel like home."

"My parents like Atria Kinghaven. The staff is very friendly. They have a little issue because sometimes when the food is delivered to their table, it's not what they ordered or it's not to their liking. The food itself is presented very well, but it seems like they're short-handed with staff because it takes a long time for them to take their food out or the waiters and waitresses forget things. The place is very clean. They have a lot of activities that go on a daily basis. It seems like there's a little bit of lack of communication between the staff and the people there. It's also pricey."

"I toured Riverview Towers Co-op. It was very informative. I was worried about the space. The kitchen is small. The other stuff is fine. They have a community room on each floor. They show me where you get mail and all that kind of stuff. The staff was very informative and answered my questions. The facility was great. They have benches and places to sit outside, as well as tables and stuff. I like that a lot. It's a great location because I can go to church right next to it, and Meijer, Kroger, and Walgreens are all right there, and we can walk home."

"A friend has already moved in to Ashford Court. It’s bright and cheerful, and the rooms are of good size. The people answered all our questions. Everything has been taken care of. They responded to some of her wishes, the food is good, and the people are very friendly. No complaints. "

"I moved into Flat Rock Towers Co-op. I like the location because for me, it's closer to my church, to my family, and to a lot of things. So far, everything's been great. The neighbors are good. The apartment is very nice. I have no complaints whatsoever. I was really impressed when I saw my apartment. It's all freshly painted. They put in new carpet. Everything looks brand new, practically. I'm very pleased with all that. The only thing I wish, and all the senior apartments seem to be the same, they don't have any dishwashers. I need a dishwasher, and I need some covered parking, and I'm on the list, but they told me I probably won't get one until about a year or so. The staff has been wonderful and very supportive. They have a weekly bingo and a weekly Bunco. I haven't participated in anything yet except for the Christmas party the other day. The food was very good. Value for money is pretty good. It's subsidized. They're only charging me 30% of my income. I can't find anything cheaper than that."

"They did not have any openings. It was pretty nice. The apartments were large and clean. The studio apartment was very large for a studio, so you have a choice between it and a one-bedroom apartment. The staff was helpful, friendly, and very professional. They had church services. "

"I like that American House Westland Joy has a large variety of activities and that the individuals are involved in them. Today, they went down for a small music concert and my mom has played bingo at least once and she enjoyed it. Both my mom and dad are in an apartment that has a full kitchen, two bedrooms, and a living room. As you walk in the door, you could see the residents in the main lobby socializing. I visited quite a few different facilities and some of their hallways would be empty, but not this one. There are people out and about and people are wanting to be out of their rooms. I think there's a good number of people who socialize in the public areas. Their staff has been very friendly, too."

"I went to American House Riverview to see their independent living facility. It was very clean. It was very friendly. The only thing I didn't like was when you come in the door, you walk right into a busy, busy section of the lobby, and the cafeteria. I would like it better if you could come in and out more privately and have that off to the side, but that's the way they have it set up. The room was a one-bedroom, living room, kitchen, and bathroom. I didn't see a whole lot of activity going on, and I would like a little bit more of that, but it could have been the wrong time of day. So, I can't really say it wasn't good. You could do your laundry, but it was like a quarter a load or something like that. They have bus transportation. Meals were included, but you had to eat them in the cafeteria. You couldn't come down and take them back to your room."

"I visited American House for my husband, and I liked it. I was impressed with it. It was a little bit far for me to go, but I thought it was a nice facility. I didn't want a facility that had dementia and Alzheimer's with it because I don't think my husband could handle that. I wasn't there long. I just saw the studio apartment, which I liked, and I thought it was nice. I talked to the therapist, and she was very nice. I also talked to the director. I saw the dining room, and it looked very nice, and everybody looked very clean. It was very clean and it had no smell. They do a lot of trips and activities with their patients. However, I wasn’t there a long time because I wanted my children to come and look at the facility also. She said I could come anytime. "

"My father has moved into The Bellaire Senior Living. The atmosphere is very nice. It's very clean, and the people are friendly. The staff has been great. He had dinner last night, and it was excellent. He ate in his room, but the dining room is very nice. His room is very nice, too. They have activities but I haven't seen enough yet. Everything looks good. They have a beautiful gazebo. We chose it because one of the caseworkers at the hospital, her mother was there, and she spoke highly of it, so I felt like it must be a good place."

"My mom has been here since April and for several months I was extremely happy with the facility, the staff was great when it came to the care of the residents. The only problem I had in the beginning was missing clothes and shoes. Recently the staff and administrators have changed and not for the better, I don’t understand why the change because the old staff was the best, no one is hardly available to address my concerns and the nursing staff is not as professional like the old staff which I wish could come back. At this point I’m looking for a new facility especially since they have increased their fees $200.00 and their services are no longer worth it. The only thing that is consistent from the time my mom moved in would be the activity director Bridgit, she is amazing and has my mother very active. It saddens me to see this beautiful place and staff in the beginning to change so drastically to the point I’m removing my mother from her comfort zone but I can’t keep her there. We had a life scare and Jatonya noticed she wasn’t breathing right called ems which I was told had it been any later she wouldn’t be here today. She is no longer there and that’s sad she was excellent at her job and I don’t feel this new staff are as attentive as the old staff, while I visit no one comes and check on her which they never know when we visit for this unhappiness I feel now she’s going to leave as soon as I find another happy place. I’m so sad to do this to my mom but the only thing to keep her there would be to return the old staff completely"
