"My mother-in-law is a resident of The Pines of Goodrich. It is great; it is very nice. The staff members are wonderful. They provide around-the-clock care. My mother-in-law's room is spacious, beautiful, and very clean. Their dining area is very nice, clean, and accommodating. Their dining area is wonderful and more like a restaurant. It is a real gathering place. The food is good too. We never have to worry about my mother-in-law there. They're all wonderful, they know her, and they know us. It has been a real relief. The activities are very nice. It is pretty pricey, but it is worth it."

"I went to tour BeeHive Homes of Oxford. Everyone was nice. The facility was clean. They spent a lot of time with us. They have a smaller cafeteria because they cater to a much smaller group. There are not as many people. The rooms were studios. They have their private bathroom in each one. There was nothing wrong with them, but they were just generic. They weren't as many activities as the other facility. There were very few. They have a bus that will take people in and out, and they have a smaller common area, but they have a nice outdoor area."

"My grandmother is at The Pines of Burton. I like it. They followed Covid-19 safety precautions. They had very nice and very respectful staff. They were a bit pricy, but they provided quality care to their residents. They were very respectful of maintaining safety for their residents as well. As far as folks who may have wanted to attempt to visit, someone they considered a loved one, but that loved one did not consider them; i.e., ex-husbands and things like that. They were very good at taking those kinds of precautions as well. Due to Covid-19, I wasn't able to sit and dine with my loved one because visitors were only allowed to come in within the standard restricted areas, and dining was a public space. It was a little pricy, but not as pricy as other facilities."

"We toured American House Grand Blanc. What I liked most was the very welcoming people. The leasing agent was very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. We had lunch there, and the kitchen staff came out and talked to us about substitutions as well as the menus. We also had someone on the cleaning staff who just came up to us and talked about what they offer: daily trash if you want it, weekly cleaning, and laundry facilities that are available. The facility was very clean. American House had the nicest apartment kitchen we saw at any place. American House, being a little bit older, had the nicest kitchen. So, rather than just a kitchenette, they had a little kitchen nook, and more flexibility in terms of a larger refrigerator and stuff. Although my sister won't use it, it was more of a kitchen than a kitchenette. From that standpoint, the American House had the nicest layout. I was happy with the American House."

"The tour at Brookdale Grand Blanc was good. It was a nice place, but it was not something that my friend could afford right then. The staff was very nice and informative. The people that I saw moving around in there seemed very happy and comfortable, so I would recommend it. The facility was clean and didn't smell. You can have pets. Everybody seemed pretty friendly and outgoing."

"As a resident of Tranquility, I am very satisfied with my comfortable room and it's great to have a housekeeper to keep things tidy and a laundry lady too, both are so nice. Overall I like the food they serve here and it's great that they have an option to pick low sodium since I am salt sensitive and that there is a variety of dishes to choose from as well. No doubt I feel spoiled at times because the staff here is so caring and compassionate, if I need anything, all I have to do is call!"

"Everything was very nice over at Living Waters Buell Lake. The person in charge was very good. The place was clean. I remember they had a nice community room and they had an event going on that day. The kitchen looked very good. They did have a patio that looked out over a lake. The staff who gave me the tour was very family-oriented. The dining room looked like it was very well organized. It was a very clean- looking place and well-lit. It was a very simple place. It had 2 hallways and 19 rooms."

"They had people sharing rooms, like two people in a room. It was a three story building, they had an elevator going up and two floors had the patients' rooms and a nurses' station. The top floor was like a recreational room where you can play cards. You could talk to the residents there and they seem to be enjoying games. The patients are enjoying each other's company. The staff there were very, very nice. They had a church service going on when I was there and it seemed like there's a nice community feeling. If there's something that a potential resident likes to do, they make sure they would have activities in their interest. They seem like they're really engaging the people and getting them involved in things. I would recommend this to others. "

"My mother has lived at Flourish Collection (previously Blossom Springs Assisted Living) for the past 4 years. The care she receives after suffering a stroke has been wonderful. The staff treats her like a family member and gives me piece of mind when I can’t be with her. While nothing is perfect, they are always willing to listen and try to correct whatever the problem may be. While I don’t live that close to the community, I wouldn’t move her anywhere else based on the facility and care she receives. I would recommend Flourish Collection to anyone looking for a community for their loved ones."

"My mom moved into Vista Springs Washington Place. It's beautiful, the ratio is five citizens to one caretaker. It's very clean. They go out of their way to individualize the care for each of the members that are there. It's very well taken care of. Her room is very roomy. We got to bring in her furniture to make it individualized to what her needs are. It's gorgeous. It's very well taken care of. Her room is very roomy. They have a family dining room. They have a barbershop. They also have two four seasons rooms. They have an outdoor pavilion so families can meet outdoors."

"My dad is a resident of Flourish Collection at Rochester. What I like most about it is that the location is two miles from our house. It is set in a beautiful Rolling Hills Community and it has an active lifestyle for an aging population and there are quite a few activities. An overarching experience that we have had is that anything that needs addressed is done in a very expeditious way. The staff is fantastic and personal. They know my dad, and they know me by name. They are always available and ready to help. He lives in an independent ranch home, two-bedroom, two full bath, garage, laundry room, kitchen, family room, and lanai. It has new carpet, fresh paint, and luxury vinyl flooring. It does have safety pull cords and a daily check-in system that if he has not personally checked in, they will follow up and go to his unit and check in on him. There might have been slight variations as having a corner end unit versus a middle unit. They offer valet and chauffeur service. There's music, which my dad really enjoys. They have a pool, a clubhouse, bocce, pickleball, and hot tub that is available to any of the residents to reserve individually or enjoy as a community. They also have onsite healthcare. There are in-home visits by a nurse practitioner on a weekly basis every Monday, which is fantastic. They have in-home podiatry care, which is every other month and they do feet and hands. They offer vision care and they have hearing aid appointments. They have in-home dental care as well. My dad doesn't have a dog, but I see that they have a little van that pulls up to groom and wash and care for your dog. There are quite a few residents that have dogs that I've seen. He has had in-home physical therapy as well, which is fantastic. You're not running around town trying to coordinate that and as a family member/caregiver/helper, it allows me to still raise my family while knowing that he's cared for there. The community director gave me access to communicate with him and he is always available. If there is a problem, it's addressed immediately. It does feel more personal than it does a machine or a corporation. My son and the community director's son were playing against each other at a local high school baseball game and the community director came down to my car and got my dad out of the car and helped him walk up to the game. It's personal. It's not just a business. They care and they want to help make their golden years comfortable and enjoyable and special for them. My dad does go to the dining room on occasion."

"My mother is in an assisted living building at Addington Place of Clarkston. I had made several calls to other places and Addington Place called me back and they were close also. The layout is inviting. My mom's room is close to the dining area, so it's convenient to visit her. There's a courtyard there. It's very well done. They're redoing it now, but even before they started to redo it, it was very beautifully done. They had a very welcoming lobby. The staff is friendly. They seem to know mom well, which tells me they've spent a significant amount of time with her. They bother to get to know the little things about her, what she likes, what she doesn't like, what time she likes to have ice cream in the evening, little things like that. There's a lot of staff, you have the care level, you have the director, and you have an activities person. Most of them are very professional. There are a few new people. I would say 90% of them are just top-notch staff. In every facility, you're going to find a staff member that's a little off or they're just maybe a little too busy, but that's not the case there. The majority of their staff are topnotch, and almost treat my mom like they're her own mother or grandmother. Compared to other areas, they're probably one of the best. I've tasted the food a couple of times and it's good. They have a great activities coordinator and she's got all kinds of things going on there. They have people come in that play instruments and they have a 50s day and there's just a lot of different things. They had dancers come in that were from New York and do a little performance for us. It was neat. I happened to be there that day when they came. It was expensive, but I was surprised that it was as reasonable as it was, given the quality of this place. It's kind of like a hidden gem."

"We saw Vista Springs Trillium Village Estate. It's like five minutes from my house. It was very clean. It looks brand new. I like that they have five people to one aide, rather than half a dozen or more for one person. It's not like a hospital. They seemed friendly, and I saw that they were taking care of the people who were there. I didn't look at the premium rooms. I looked the next one up, and they seemed a good size."
