"Charter Senior Living of Bay City looked real nice. The people were friendly. Everything looked fine there. The staff was helpful. I didn't taste the food, but it seemed to be made in house, so it's probably good. They had a lot of crafts and stuff."

"We actually went to the memory care. The way it was setup wasn't as cheerful, it didn't feel as happy, and it was more patriotic. There's also a big difference with the way the people were served at the dining table. The residents were just right across from the kitchen. I guess they have a menu that you can order off of, but it seemed that the kitchen was right near the dining room where the residents were eating. The staff was informative, gave us a full tour, but we only went to the memory care side, and didn't go into assisted living. It was clean, it didn't smell, it was decorated, but they used a lot of brown, and it was basically just one room size, which were more like studios."

Welcome to Satchell's Christian Retirement Adult Foster Care Home, our adult foster care facility and our home as well. Our goal is to show you what we can offer your loved one when their needs become 24-hour care but do not require a nursing home. We are licensed by the state and aim to provide a clean, comfortable, warm, and friendly atmosphere for them to enjoy their later years in life. The Owners Karen and Mike Yens have been lifelong Tuscola county residents. Along with our son, Chris and daughter-in-law Dana Yens; we have purchased Satchell's Christian Retirement Home from Bill and Peggy Satchell. Karen is a retired Registered Nurse with 35 years of caring for people. Karen's start came from Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. She loved her time there and hoped one day to get back to "true care" for her patients. She is excited that we have made it a family affair with Chris and Dana both helping in different areas of the home. You may see one of Chris and Dana's three children at the home. "My brother is at S&D Senior Living Home right now. He's getting physical therapy and occupational therapy there, and he has a visiting nurse two or three days a week. I get to visit him every week. The facility is relatively new and the lady who runs the home used to work in mental health, so she has a vast knowledge of the types of people who need assistance in living. There are five other men in the community and one woman. My brother's bedroom is almost like a private area. He has a living room, a dining room, a bedroom, and a bathroom. He is on the south end of the building, so as far as I'm concerned, it's a good arrangement for him. They provide his meals, they help him with his bathing and showering, and somebody is there 24/7. The last time I was there -- I believe it was Black Friday -- at dinner time they had pasta salad and a beverage. They only serve home-cooked meals, rather than food from some type of food service. They prepare it all from scratch. The place is very clean. They don't allow the residents to eat in their bedrooms because they're all carpeted. They served my brother a snack too. The weather has been cold here so they couldn't be taken outside, but I have taken him out two times since he's been there."

"Timberline Lodge Inc would have been a very nice place; however, they don't accept people in a wheelchair. We were not aware of that before the tour, so therefore we couldn't place my brother there, but I was very, very impressed with the place. The staff and the residents appeared to be happy and pleasant. The rooms were very comfortable. There's a bed and a dresser, and you can bring your own TV and a reclining chair if you wish to, or any other type of chair. When I was there, they were watching TV, some were reading, and some were just relaxing and meditating. It's a very nice assisted living home, and it appeared to be very clean."

"I absolutely love this facility. It is privately owned and operated by some really great people. I have a friend that lives here. He is relatively independent however, he must have twenty four hour supervision due to a learning disability. My friend, Mike, has been in several different homes and this has been the best one for him. I do believe he is here to stay. He has been living in this particular place for three years and has done fabulous. Mike enjoys being independent and is allowed several options concerning his daily plans. When Mike first came to this facility he was a bit skinny. Not anymore, as the staff that are employed here are wonderful cooks and I do believe he has gained at least twenty pounds. Mike has his own room which is very important to him as he does like to have his alone time. He enjoys making jewelry then having staff take him to different craft shows and flea markets to sell his wares. Mike seems to have come such a long way since living in this facility and I am so proud of him and the staff that work here who are compassionate and caring. I couldn't imagine him anywhere else. "

"Northwood Meadows was beautiful, everything there was very nice, but they did not have any rooms. The staff was very knowledgeable. Everything was clean and well maintained."

"My husband is at Fisher Senior Care and Rehab Center. I like it there very much. The staff have been wonderful. It's a very clean place. There's no odor in the place. They call me when they have to make a major change and see what I think about it. I would very much recommend it. However, the only reason I'm requesting a change is because I don't drive. It's hard for me to get over to see him, and I would like to see him every day. My husband has been very limited in what he can say, and he can't walk. He is put in a wheelchair now once a day, and they are trying for more often. He just fell out of a wheelchair because he bent over, so they're trying to get another wheelchair. He's very limited right now. I have talked with the therapist, and they do things with him. They want him to do more, but he's very, very weak. I can't take care of him, and I'm grateful that there are places. I think this is a good place. I like the way they talk to him. I think the value for the money is good."

"Pinecrest owned by Fred allows hospice clients. The meals are excellent and he has excellent caregivers working with the clients. Fred treats the clients like he would his own parents. It is a small house so the clients feel right at home. My mother gets very good care with lots of attention. I can visit anytime. "

"My sister-in-law moved to The Heartlands. What I like best is they really worked with me. I had them over from Ohio to Michigan, and they were really very helpful in helping me understand what needs to happen, and how it needs to go. They were very upfront and direct about what they needed and it was really good. Usually, they do an initial assessment in person, but because she was in assisted living in Ohio, they did a Zoom call with her. I was impressed by their customer service. Her apartment is fairly new. The whole place is only two years old. It's great. I would call it about a room and a half. They have all kinds of things that they work with, what they need, and what they can do. They have a cook on site and she's the head of the kitchen. My sister-in-law has been very impressed with the food. They try to get you moving as much as you can. They're trying to get her as capable as she can be without pushing her too hard, so that's been good, too. She could eat all the food some days. So it's good food inside. They have an activity director there that is really active."

"Overall, Home Sweet Home Assisted Living Facility is a typical assisted living facility. The grounds are kept nicely. However, there is not much space for outdoor activities. The facility lacks walking paths, picnic tables, or any sort of means for outdoor living. Also, the rooms are newly renovated and nicely furnished. However, they are very small and do not provide a ton of natural light for residents. They almost mirror hospital rooms since there is a great lack of windows. Furthermore, the rooms lack storage space and almost feel like a hotel room as opposed to a home. The food is not up to par, either. There is not a wide variety of choices or a variety of meal times. However, the one saving grace of Home Sweet Home Assisted Living Facility is the staff. They are all friendly and generous. Not only do they take the time to care for the residents, but they become friends to them as well. "

"Overall, I had a very good experience with this facility each time I was there to visit my grandmother. I could tell that she was receiving the care that she needed as she neared the end of her battle with cancer. Her room was always impeccably clean, and there were numerous activities such as manicures or bingo nights that she could partake in. Though she often could not eat much, she liked that each week she was given a menu to choose what she wanted to eat for her meals. The nurses helped her to speak with my mother and other relatives about her final wishes in a calm and stable setting, and I believe that helped everyone to accept the situation and focus on what my grandmother needed rather than little family disputes. I would definitely recommend Country Gardens to anyone looking for a safe and trustworthy environment for a relative to reside in. The facility itself is very well-maintained and the staff members are friendly and truly caring. "
