"I had an in-person tour of Brookdale Saginaw. There wasn't anything that I didn't like about the facility. As of right now, this is one of my top choices. They even invited me to speak to some of the residents as well, so that was very nice. I got to meet with the chef, and she was open and honest about everything. They showed me every nook and cranny of the building, so that was wonderful. They have a nice little apartment room, like a studio apartment. It has a nice little kitchenette in it where they provide a microwave, a refrigerator, a little sink, and little cabinets to keep dishes and whatnot. It has a personal bathroom with a shower. The staff was wonderful. The chef made a fresh loaf of banana bread and sent me home with a piece, which was very nice. There were no odors or anything in there. It was absolutely clean and beautiful."

"I was at Independence Village of Midland for a tour. It's newer. Carrie was very helpful. We went there in between mealtimes, so there were no meals at that time, but we looked at the menu, and I was impressed with it. The rooms were neat. We were able to get around very well. They had all the facilities you needed to take care of yourself, or mostly take care of yourself, so I was impressed. The common place for everybody was pleasant. It had a lot of windows so that you could look out to the patio at the back, which was nice. Independence Village of Midland was the one that we liked the most. If my mother were still here in lower Michigan, that would be it."

"My parents have been at Candlestone for over a year now. My Mom is in assisted living, and my Dad is in Memory Care, so I’ve seen everything the community has to offer. Overall my parents have been happy and well looked after, and that makes me very happy and grateful. The staff are warm and friendly, the food is good (yes I’ve tried the food), they always have fun activities for the residents, and the facility is clean and inviting. I routinely “pop in” to visit unannounced and I’m always impressed with the level of care and attention I see between the staff and the residents. In fact, I’ve gotten to know some of the staff, and I can attest they are committed to the highest level of care. They always have a smile on their face, and they always go the extra mile for the residents. When I began my search for an assisted living facility for my parents I visited several throughout Midland, and Candlestone impressed me the most. Since then I’ve been very happy with my decision, and so have my parents. I highly recommend Candlestone to anyone in need of an assisted living facility."

"My wife was at Brookdale Midland. It was for respite care. The size is good because it's small. They're a pretty close group. The staff was very good. Their food was excellent. The cleanliness was good. It's reasonably new; it's not an old place or anything. For activities, they played cards and bingo. My wife enjoyed it; she thought it was nice. The layout was good. The rooms weren't as big as some of the other ones, but you're not in there that much. The atmosphere was very friendly."

"In the 68 years that I have been alive, I have never found a place that has better customer service. Every, and I mean every single person we interacted with was amazing. Due to my mother’s illness we visited all hours of the day and night and never had any problems or concerns with the staff. The building is very clean, free of odors and feels like home. We have never seen any residents that look unhappy or not cared for. The activities that take place are so wonderful, and family is able to join in. Dezarae, Kathy and Loren are so reassuring with the medications and take the time to know who the residents are. The food is wonderful, if mom wanted a grilled cheese or egg sandwich in place of a meal, it was not an issue. The housekeeper Katlynn was so kind and made sure to interact with mom when cleaning the room. We loved the layout of the apartment and that she could have a bird feeder outside of her window. Yes, they are expensive, however so are luxury vehicles. I am old enough to know that you get what you pay for. "

"We visited Vassar Fields, and it seemed very good. There were people my parents knew who were living there so they were considering it at that time. They had arts and crafts and bingo. They had a room where people could come in, have popcorn, and watch movies and shows. They also have entertainment coming in from the outside. We visited the assisted living part, and I noticed that the independent living places seemed to be larger compared to the assisted living ones. They also didn't have a full kitchen. It was more of a room with a bathroom like a hotel suite, which is nice, but it didn't have kitchen facilities. The facility is also older."

We provide care from the very beginning all the way to the end. "I've been in Heritage Hill for three years now. The staff is wonderful. They take good care of me. It's clean and neat. I just love it. They have so many activities to keep us busy every day. I bake on Mondays, and we eat what we bake on Tuesdays at happy hour. It is a great place to be. They're there to help you at the drop of a pen. I would recommend it to anyone that needs any assistance. God has certainly blessed me. It's a good place to stay. We all have single rooms. I have two closets, a bathroom in my room, and I have room for my family to come and visit. I have four sisters and a brother. There are six of us, and I have plenty of room for everybody. It's a nice, large apartment. It's not a little cramped space and I can do what I want. If I can't do it, they'll come and do it for me, but I do a lot of stuff my own way. My great-grandson comes sometimes and spends the day with me and he loves it here. They have a library and the activities department has a book cart that they can bring around with lots of different books on it. They change out the books all the time. Our local transportation comes sometimes and takes us to the library if we want to go. We go out to eat in the community or in other small communities around as an outing. They take us different places and we've been to a lot of different places. We have a lot of activities. We play cornhole and volleyball and they have bingo twice a week. They have card games. I usually have a puzzle in our community room. It's a great place and we're well taken care of. If we need physiotherapy, they come in. A nurse practitioner comes here. If we have wounds, they have a wound nurse that comes. I feel very safe and comfortable here. The staff is wonderful. Not everybody likes everything, but in general, the food is pretty good. It's very clean and well taken care of and outside they have someone mow and remove snow and visitors can come anytime of day if they want. It's like home. I was just recently in the hospital and they wanted me to go to in-house rehab for two more weeks, and I told them, "No, I want to go home. I can get everything I need there." The activities are great. They go out of their way. I'm sure I'm getting my money's worth."

"Our father was a resident at the Sheffield. It was Beautiful inside including the rooms and it was always clean. We were so happy with our dad‘s care. The staff was amazing and they were so loving towards all the residents. I highly recommend Sheffield if you are looking for a place for your loved one. We can’t say enough about our whole experience at Sheffield. We have 6 children in our family and we all loved everything about this place! "

"First thing my husband noticed was the cleanliness of the facility. Staff was was great. My father-in-law was only there for tow and a half months but they celebrated his 100th birthday! So very pleased with his healing and physical and occupational therapy. I will highly recommend them!"

"Bay Valley AFC Inc is like two blocks from my house. So that was a big factor in choosing it for my mom. I would highly recommend it. They let us come in at any time for visits. We can spend the night. They have home-cooked meals. They're just very caring to my mom and other people. They have church, bingo, they have singing groups, and they do their laundry right here for them. They are always friendly and always warm. They are always very open to anything that we talk about. They allow me to help my mom, and I bring my dog. It's a home, not just an assisted living. They will make her special things if she wants, like she gets hot cocoa every time she asks for it. They will allow us to come in as a family and use the kitchen. I'm very pleased. It's good just to be able to walk in and not smell urine smells and feces smells. It's very clean. The staff is always available to help. I thought my mom was going to be a lot of work for them, and they're like, "She's one of the easier residents," so I was very thankful for that. It is homier than the others. They allowed us to bring in a fish tank for my mom."

"I visited Close To Home Assisted Living which was a remodeled school. It's kind of an average place. The staff members were pretty good and they were quite helpful in giving us the tour. They have a courtyard and lawns, and they have places where you could walk out like balconies. The upkeep and cleanliness were also average. It's located near restaurants and a hospital."

"My mom was in Caretel Inns of Tri-Cities. The food was outstanding, and their gourmet chef was better than any restaurant in town. Family members that visit got to eat there and it only costs $5. That food would cost $25 in a restaurant. A lot of the patients allow their family members to eat with them, and it's a very positive thing. Her room was nice, it was very bright, very decorated, not as large as the others, but it looked homey, and it looked like they cared about you. They had Bingo, trivia night, a little movie theater, exercises, and they played Euchre. They had tons of stuff to do. They also had a state of the art physical and occupational therapy."
