"My mom is at New Life. They have a limited amount of residents; four other ladies live in the house that she is in. They are very well cared for. They are bathed and fed three meals a day. Overall, it's a very nice place with very good people. "

"Angelic Gardens would probably be my second choice, but it was a little bit further. It was really nice there, it had a country setting, and it had a lot of snow at that time, but it looked like it's going to be a pond. It has beautiful gardens, and nice big rooms. It was very clean. The staff seemed to be OK. I would definitely recommend them. "

"I absolutely love this facility. It is privately owned and operated by some really great people. I have a friend that lives here. He is relatively independent however, he must have twenty four hour supervision due to a learning disability. My friend, Mike, has been in several different homes and this has been the best one for him. I do believe he is here to stay. He has been living in this particular place for three years and has done fabulous. Mike enjoys being independent and is allowed several options concerning his daily plans. When Mike first came to this facility he was a bit skinny. Not anymore, as the staff that are employed here are wonderful cooks and I do believe he has gained at least twenty pounds. Mike has his own room which is very important to him as he does like to have his alone time. He enjoys making jewelry then having staff take him to different craft shows and flea markets to sell his wares. Mike seems to have come such a long way since living in this facility and I am so proud of him and the staff that work here who are compassionate and caring. I couldn't imagine him anywhere else. "

"Northwood Meadows - A Senior Living Community was a well-managed very clean facility. It's very spacious. The rooms were very well organized and set out. It looked like they had a very active community there and activities for the seniors. It seemed reasonable for the price; it just was not part of our price range. They have small studio apartments. They have a variety of rooms. The staff who accommodated me was very kind and very knowledgeable about the situation there and the situation with the residents. It looked like they were just under a remodel, so things were looking good and updated with the electrical and everything. It was very attractive. I saw that they were having some games in the community room."

"Pinecrest owned by Fred allows hospice clients. The meals are excellent and he has excellent caregivers working with the clients. Fred treats the clients like he would his own parents. It is a small house so the clients feel right at home. My mother gets very good care with lots of attention. I can visit anytime. "

"I visit my Aunt (who has been a resident at Lake Huron Woods for about 5 years) at least four times a month. My Aunt has loved living at LHW and suggestes to everyone she meets to move in! She participates in many daily community activities and enjoys going down daily for her meals in the dining room. She says the meals are always delicious and is happy she doesn't have to cook for herself anymore. She has made many new friends and made lots of memories during the past 5 years!! She is definitely living her BEST LIFE and ENJOYING EVERY MINUTE OF IT! The entire staff goes above and beyond and is always available if or when needed. We are truly blessed to have Lisa, Lori and Diane working in the front office. The entire community is beautiful including my Aunts apartment-it really is spacious! We love knowing my Aunt can stay in her home and age-in place - If needed LHW has a on-site 24 hour medical team. "

Whether you live there, or are just visiting you'll become family to them, and they will always act in the best interest of the resident. Great food, served 3 times a day. No stairs, and lots of in house activities for a resident. On suite restrooms in every room. "

"My mother was at Hidden Lakes Senior Living. It was 5 stars all around. It's a residential home with only five residents. I was extremely happy about the entire experience. The feel, the people, and everything was perfect. She wasn't there long enough though. She was only there 10 days, and she passed away. I know that the residents do activities, but my mom did not participate. She wasn't feeling well enough to do that. I know that they play games, and they have birthday parties. She was not able to eat as well, but I know they have a cook that comes in and does the cooking. In my experience, the residents that were there seemed very happy with it. Everyone seemed very pleased with the cook's food."

"My mother is in Mercy Village. They're very helpful. It's overall a good experience. She's happy with the food. They usually have an activity or some kind of entertainment every day. She's in a one-bedroom apartment and it's nice. It has a nice kitchen, a nice seating area, the bedroom is good sized, and the bathroom is good. I'm happy with it."

"My mother is in North Port. It is a 15-story building in an old complex. All of the units are old and pretty small at about 600 square feet. There are lots of activities posted around the complex. They seem to have satisfactory services and facilities. They don't have regular meals, but each unit has its own little kitchen. They have social events where they show movies, play games, have a billiards table, and do potlucks for holidays. "

"My husband is at Fisher Senior Care and Rehab Center. I like it there very much. The staff have been wonderful. It's a very clean place. There's no odor in the place. They call me when they have to make a major change and see what I think about it. I would very much recommend it. However, the only reason I'm requesting a change is because I don't drive. It's hard for me to get over to see him, and I would like to see him every day. My husband has been very limited in what he can say, and he can't walk. He is put in a wheelchair now once a day, and they are trying for more often. He just fell out of a wheelchair because he bent over, so they're trying to get another wheelchair. He's very limited right now. I have talked with the therapist, and they do things with him. They want him to do more, but he's very, very weak. I can't take care of him, and I'm grateful that there are places. I think this is a good place. I like the way they talk to him. I think the value for the money is good."

The Owners Karen and Mike Yens have been lifelong Tuscola county residents. Along with our son, Chris and daughter-in-law Dana Yens; we have purchased Satchell's Christian Retirement Home from Bill and Peggy Satchell. Karen is a retired Registered Nurse with 35 years of caring for people. Karen's start came from Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. She loved her time there and hoped one day to get back to "true care" for her patients. She is excited that we have made it a family affair with Chris and Dana both helping in different areas of the home. You may see one of Chris and Dana's three children at the home.
