"Several years ago my mother and I visited the Blue Water Lodge in Fort Gratiot. She was selling her home and looking at retirement communities. We enjoyed a lovely lunch, took a tour and after our visit discussed the Lodge. Mother did not feel ready to commit to the Lodge at that time. However, this past spring she moved there. We never could have managed the transition (which I accomplished long distance from California) without the help of Susan B. and the other kind staff members at the lodge. Susan helped me figure out how to furnish the apartment, lent us furniture on a temporary basis, took pictures of the unit Mom would be renting, and even measured the distance from the unit to the elevator. A few weeks ago my husband and I had the opportunity to spend five days staying in the guest suite at the lodge and enjoying time with Mother. I was impressed with the services, activities, kindness of every staff member and the cleanliness of the facility (my laundry room should be so clean and orderly!). As we prepared to leave I gave Mom a hug and a kiss, and she said, "Thanks for getting me in here." What better assessment of the facility can there possibly be?"

"I have visited Port Haven Manor, different occasions, I can not speak highly enough about Port Haven Manor. The staff is friendly, helpful and informative. The residents are happy, friendly and welcome guests wgen they arrive. Very clean, apartments are well laid out."

"My sister-in-law moved to The Heartlands. What I like best is they really worked with me. I had them over from Ohio to Michigan, and they were really very helpful in helping me understand what needs to happen, and how it needs to go. They were very upfront and direct about what they needed and it was really good. Usually, they do an initial assessment in person, but because she was in assisted living in Ohio, they did a Zoom call with her. I was impressed by their customer service. Her apartment is fairly new. The whole place is only two years old. It's great. I would call it about a room and a half. They have all kinds of things that they work with, what they need, and what they can do. They have a cook on site and she's the head of the kitchen. My sister-in-law has been very impressed with the food. They try to get you moving as much as you can. They're trying to get her as capable as she can be without pushing her too hard, so that's been good, too. She could eat all the food some days. So it's good food inside. They have an activity director there that is really active."

"I had a relative and dear family friend stay here. What a beautiful home! The staff is very knowledgeable and caring! It’s such a comfortable and safe place. We loved the owners, they are very friendly and helpful with any questions we had. My family member was treated like they were their own family members. The bedroom she had was beautiful with a small koi pond under her window. The interaction with the other residents is priceless! Would HIGHLY recommend to anyone!"

"Northwood Meadows was beautiful, everything there was very nice, but they did not have any rooms. The staff was very knowledgeable. Everything was clean and well maintained."

"The Village of Lake Huron Woods is very, very nice. They have their own bus. They were friendly, compassionate, and caring. They make sure that you just don't sit in your apartment all day and that you go out and take part in their activities. Also, if you're not up to cooking any of your meals, you can go down to the dining room, and they will make a full, beautiful, good meal. They had someone come in and play the piano. They were warm, very hospitable, and welcoming. They made sure you also had a good time while you were there. We had a dessert. You could have coffee or tea, too. It was homey. The place was very well kept and clean."
