"My mom will move into The Arbor Inn. When I went on the tour, it was big enough that she would have a wide pool of people that she could socialize with, yet small enough that you wouldn't be lost in the shuffle. The place was extremely clean. There was a couple there that were cleaning out a room, as the husband's father had passed away. While we were walking down the hall, they both told me what a wonderful place this was, how well they cared for their dad, and that I was making a good choice if I chose to have my mom go into that facility. So, with all that in consideration, that's why I chose the Arbor Inn. There was an ice cream social going on, and we joined in. The ice cream was good. The apartment is nice. It is a single with a private bath. It's spacious enough to get all the essentials in there for her, and she should be very comfortable. I met several members of the staff. They all seemed very friendly. It was obvious they cared for the patients they were attending to, which impressed me."

"My mother moved into American House. They're very friendly, everything is up to code, it's beautiful, and my mother is very happy with it. She has a 2-bedroom on the first floor, it's huge, and she loves it. They have Bingo, a pool table, puzzles, exercise, a TV downstairs in the living room, and they love to watch the ballgame. The have a gazebo right outside her room, people go out there in the evening, and it's really nice. They have a bus that takes them shopping, to doctors' offices, and to the bank. The hallways were just redone. They just put a breakfast bar in the dining room, and in the entryway, they've got a place for coffee, drinks, cereal, and pastries 24 hours a day. The food was delicious. The staff was very friendly, and everybody seemed to know the residents by name. It's right next to a Meijer's shopping center."

"I toured Oaktree Place. I was going to give them a deposit check, but then they decided my friend needed too much care for 1 or 2 people who would be there full-time. It's a house. It has four bedrooms. They have two people and most of the bedrooms would have been a single bedroom. They had big sofa chairs to watch the big screen TV. If they wanted, they could sit at the dining table. She would make the food for them. The one lady who made all the food and took care of their nursing issues. With other residents they had, my friend, would have put her over the limit of care."

"I visited Windemere Park Warren's assisted living for my mom. It is a remodeled hotel, so it's a little less bright. However, they also have very large open-air spaces, including a koi pond, a pool, and activity areas. I don't think it's as modern or updated as the others I've visited, but it's fine. I would say the rooms are probably standard, they were decent-sized. The staff members were very knowledgeable about the area. One thing I'm looking for is a combination of assisted and memory care for when my mom would go from needing assisted living to memory care. That was an important reason that I went to Windermere, and they were very clear about answering all my questions about that. They gave me a very nice tour and even took me to memory care so I could see that as well."

"I toured American House Sterling Heights. It didn't seem as busy or active as the other facility, but it was a nice, clean, and friendly environment. I met only one other staff member besides the manager there, but they were friendly and nice. The setup didn't kind of feel that one too much."

"I have moved into Park Place, A Signature American House Community. I like the size of it, that it's not too small. I also like the fact that it is very well-maintained. Everyone in charge has been most helpful before I moved in, during moving in, and after I've moved in. I have not gotten to know a lot of the neighbors because I'm in a wheelchair and on oxygen, so I haven't been out and about, but the service here has been outstanding. They're absolutely beautiful. Everyone who comes in here is amazed at how well kept up they are, and just the quality of what they have used to design the rooms and everything. I moved in in November and then I just moved into a different room Saturday. I chose a studio apartment as opposed to a one-bedroom because I don't need that much room. There are lunches, there's going out shopping, there are doctor's visits, and there are activities here all the time like craft activities and bingo. There's just about everything you could want to do is here. And if you can't find it, you can ask for it. There's a lovely library, a very nice pool table for those who like to play pool, an area for playing cards, and an area just for sitting in front of a fireplace talking to your neighbor. The food is unbelievable. I have not had a bad meal here. It is excellent."

"The care is excellent. Staff is very personable. It is a small group setting so everyone gets individual attention. There's a lot of joy in laughter in the house. Residents are usually one or two to a bedroom. Outings are planned for residents on a regular basis and birthdays and other holidays are celebrated well. They also manage medicine and doctor visits and provide visiting nurse services. It isrun by a beautiful family. "

"We chose to move Mom to Meadows Assisted Living and Care Campus because of its proximity to my home and my father's home and the price. It just worked out. What I like the best about it is that it's smaller, so I know that mom is going to get more personal care and so far, so good. The food seems fine. I'm happy with it and she's eating well. It's a nice and clean place. Everything about it seems good. There is a courtyard that's quite nice, too."

"The thing I like best about American House Sterling Woods is the people. Everyone here is so nice, the staff and residents. I'm a picky eater, and I'm on a special diet, I'm supposed to have low salt and things like that, so the food is good. I put my garbage outside and it seems like it's only out there for an hour or two and then it's picked up. Everything is clean. I can see them always vacuuming and wiping things down. Every night is a game night of some sort like bingo We took a trip to the casino last week. There are some religious activities. But I'm not a person who likes a lot of activities. I like being by myself, I like reading, and I like doing jigsaw puzzles and things like that. I love my room though. It's 900 square feet, but it feels a lot larger. It's very well put together."

"I toured Advent Residential Care. It was great. It was very personal. I thought that the care was nice. It depends if people are looking for more of a smaller family atmosphere versus a community atmosphere, but I was very impressed with it. They were very cool people, very caring. I was impressed with the fact that you have a nurse on staff 24/7, it's the same person. It's in a home versus an apartment, so it was nice. It's a house and their dining areas are the kitchen. They do home-cooked meals there."

"My mom is in Sierra Homes. It is a great facility. She has a great room. She is very happy there. It is very friendly to me, her family, and her. She is always immaculate. They keep us informed of any changes. It is wonderful. It is very modern, and everything is new. It is freshly built. It has modern appliances, ceiling fans, cable, and internet. It is very pristine. My mom is on a restricted diet, and she is getting everything that she needs. They go over her diet with me, and we do that the first day that she comes in. We have no problem with her with the food. I see her eating whenever I go there most of the time. "

"I love the community of Passion and Caring Home for the Elderly. The people were professional. The people cared and the residents seemed happy. They had a great facility and activities and whatnot. The only thing is my father smokes and he would not try to give up cigarettes. The facility was very clean. The structure looked solid. The layout is good. They have some private rooms that you pay extra for it, and it was OK."

"I visited StoryPoint Clinton Township. It was very nice. The staff members were all excellent. They were very helpful. They offer just about everything you can think of. Their activities, their food, and their entertainment were superb. I thought it was great."
