I toured American House Grosse Pointe at Cottage. We liked the location. It was very nice and clean. The dining area was nice. The staff member who gave the tour was wonderful. They're very good. It was a quiet atmosphere.

American House is an excellent facility and has treated my family member extremely well. They have an excellent array of activities and special events! The staff is great and very attentive to my family member's needs. There was a situation where a few bed bugs were sighted and management kept us fully informed. The staff brought in professionals to resolve and eliminate the problem. My family member's room was treated and there have been no further issues related to bed bugs.

There has been a bed bug outbreak for months. I'm aware of many residents being impacted, having to move out, etc. The director and team have not been forthcoming and have not managed the situation well at all, to the point of being outright rude.

American House Grosse Pointe has had a serious bed bug problem for about a year. Bugs can be seen all over the facility, including the dining room. Unfortunately, management has done little to address the issue. Residents are angry and frustrated, but their pleas are falling on deaf ears. So, folks are moving out. The place is half-empty, and they are woefully understaffed.

I toured American House Grosse Pointe at Cottage. If you're a Grosse Pointer, it's a good place. That's the only really positive thing other than the staff. The staff was very nice. I've known a number of people that have lived there also. That's why I looked at it, I was familiar with it. I was interested in the price. It's a former hospital that's been refurbished, so the rooms are adequate. There is no barber shop. They did have a beauty shop, a beauty/barber shop I assume. The building was well maintained. You look out, your views are of rooftops in the city, it's just very generic. Its main attribute is location, and for a family looking for some place for a parent, that is convenient.

American House looks very nice, it just doesn't fit into our budget. The staff gave us a tour of the community, as well as the outside grounds, and we were shown the lunch room and the rec room. They have a room where they show movies, they have an all-around type of community room where they have dances, and they have a library. We also saw some of the patient rooms. The place was very clean. The person who accommodated us was very friendly and knowledgeable. I was most impressed with this community.

Everything at American House Grosse Pointe at Cottage is very clean, nice, and new. They have a key card, so their security is very good. The staff is very helpful, pleasant, and very good. Maybe they could improve their communication with family members, like just a quick phone call.

American House Grosse Pointe was OK, but the rooms were small. The dining area was small too. The staff was very nice, but they didn’t have very many residents.

I moved my sister to American House Grosse Pointe. It is such a wonderful place with beautiful surroundings. The people are just great. The facility is not even complete yet. The studio is very spacious and has a full-sized bed, a chair, and dresser.
