"The apartments are lovely and well-maintained they get lots of natural light and really have everything you could possibly need my mom lives in this community and I tell her all the time I could live here some of her favorite things to do are the Friday afternoon horse races she loves bingo and they are always always having some kind of creative class whether it's making wine or beer or joining a book club , they always have something interesting to look forward to. Something we are looking forward to is a family coming up is there having a Hawaiian luau pig roast and my mom's grandchildren who are adults especially love to visit her on Fridays for the horse races"

"American House Sterling Woods was very nice, the facility was very up-to-date, and they had a chapel there, which I thought was very nice because my mom is Catholic. There's a chapel there where she could have service once a month. The residents do rosary readings amongst themselves, so I think that's something nice for her because she is spiritual and that's kind of a benefit for her that she may take interest in. Maureen, the one who I spoke with over the phone and met in person, was actually fantastic and very informative. She actually offered additional services if need be, like a moving company. If you're bringing extra stuff with you, this moving company can assist you. I thought that was kind of beneficial. Not only is she about American House, she also provided insights with other amenities that could potentially be beneficial to us. They also have a place in the facility where my mom would have space. If she would want to bring some Christmas decorations to decorate for the holidays and it's seasonal, she could keep it in her personal locker area with her personal belongings. It wasn't much, but enough that it would not overdo the apartment and enough that she could have it with her in this locker room area. The place was very nice and very clean. The time that we were there, there weren't any residents there, so I didn't see any interactions with the residents, but the staff seemed really friendly. The cleaning people walking by, the receptionist, and Maureen who showed us around were very pleasant, warm, and welcoming."

"We went to American House Sterling Heights. The people I saw sitting around seemed happy and satisfied with where they were. The apartments were nice, spacious, and comfortable. The courtyard that the staff showed was so beautiful. They can go and sit outside and enjoy the air and flowers were everywhere. The staff I came in contact with were accommodating, nice, and polite. The lady who gave me the tour was so sweet, nice, and kind, and trying to be very accommodating. If I could have afforded to put my brother there, I would have put him there more likely because he liked the East side. I saw some of the residents who seemed very alert, very peaceful, happy, and friendly, too."

"I love Town Village Sterling Heights. I've been here for two weeks now, and I have a one-bedroom apartment. What I like the most is the pool because I love swimming. They're very nice people. They took me in on short notice. The carpet in my apartment was new and it was freshly painted. Everybody's nice here. Tomorrow, they're going to go to MGM. I go to bingo, and there are arts and crafts and card games. If you want, they can keep you busy basically from eight o'clock in the morning to at least six o'clock at night, and that's what I like about this place. They are very helpful, they are very understanding, and they worked hard with my daughter who organized everything for me to be here after the hospital. They are great. The food is very good. They have a big variety, and the salads are not cheap quality. They have fruits and vegetables, the meat is done very well, the fish is excellent, and the burger and fries are very good. For breakfast, sometimes I take vegetable omelets, and it's very well done. The salad dressings are homemade. Everything is tasty so far -- nothing really fancy, nothing really cheap, and everything is fine. It's an old place, but they took very good care of it. I can see a lot of the furniture in the hallway, not inside the apartment. Their service is very good. Somebody came and helped me get organized and move some furniture. Maintenance is there all the time. I had pneumonia for three months and I woke up with a fever. I have a necklace alarm, and I just paged them; they came straightaway and helped me. They called the doctor, got me some water, and took my temperature. I was impressed with that. They're very welcoming. I'm happy here. The building is average, but very clean. I have somebody come and clean my apartment, and that is the only thing I do not like. She basically hasn't done anything yet. I am allergic to dust due to my asthma, and I only had plastic chairs that are very easy to move. I keep things out, and there's nothing under the bed. They can easily vacuum, but she did a very poor job. They have exercise in the morning, games, bowling, cards, and bingo. They had a ceremony for Memorial Day. They had a nice band and everybody was happy. The pool is very clean. There's a bistro that's open if you don't want to go to the restaurant. It's worth it so far. They take you to Meijer, Kroger, Walmart, and doctors' appointments."

"We have moved into Pine Ridge Villas of Shelby in Shelby Township. I think the place is great. It's very friendly, and they take really good care of you. It's exceptionally clean, and they have lots of meetings to keep you informed. I could not say anything negative about it in our 5 weeks of being here. It's independent living and the staff is exceptionally friendly. They go out of their way to help you. I can't say anything negative about them. It has far exceeded what we thought would happen. They prepare you 3 meals a day. On a 100 number, I'd give the food a 98 because you're not going to like all food. They make a good variety of food, and they have good food. They also have an exception. If you don't like the food of the day, there are some other things that you can order. They do a good job. They have all kinds of activities and programs every day. I haven't been involved with them because I've been sick, but there are 2 or 3 activities every day. They have a salon, but they don't have a gym. They do have an exercise room and exercise programs. They have a great variety of programs. I would say I'm getting what I paid for."

"My dad stayed at Shorehaven in Sterling Heights. The people there were very friendly, and the aides were very good and attentive. The place was also clean, so it was just a nice place. All the residents seemed happy there. I think they had an exercise room. The Sterling Heights Library also has a van that comes and brings books in and takes the residents out, so I would say they do have access to books. For activities, they did the typical bingo, badminton with a balloon, and chair yoga. They also had entertainment come twice a month. I think it's pet-friendly too. The upkeep was very nice. The room my dad was in had a kitchenette in there, which he did not use, but was very nice. Everything was fresh and freshly painted. When we got there, the carpet had been cleaned. For my dad's situation, it fit in his budget, so we thought it was a decent price. The way they do it is they charge you for the room, and then the medical portion is a different company that works out of that building, and then you pay, so it all depends on what you need and what kind of a room you get."
