"We went to American House Village at Bloomfield. It's a nice place, but it's not what we were looking for. The floor plan was a little small, but it was OK. They showed us the common areas and a one-bedroom apartment. The staff who assisted us and gave us the tour was very nice. The place was very clean."

"Baldwin House Senior Living Oakland was clean. It was bright and cheery. The office person went over things well and answered questions well. We were impressed with them. They had ceramic stuff in one room that people were working on. They also have bingo, cards, and dinners out where they take the bus. It all sounded wonderful. The staff was very nice and informative."

"I like the staff at American House Troy. They're nice to my mother and us as a family. They are very courteous and concerned. The rooms are nice and big enough for a walker or a wheelchair. Cleanliness is really good. The food delivery is good. The meals appear to be very good, too, nutritionally based. The residents get a choice. Every day they can choose between one item or another item and my mother seemed to like the food there. They have a beauty salon and a dining room. They offer transportation if you want to go to a doctor's appointment or shopping trips if you want to go to a Myers. They have entertainment that they bring in. They have games and a little community area where a lot of residents can work jigsaw puzzles. They have a medical team on staff as well. Rent is kind of high, but overall considering the rent in other places and for what you get, it's way more."

"I toured Elmhaven Manor. It's very clean, neat, and organized. I didn't spend a lot of time there. I didn't get the comfort feeling with that one as much. The hallways and stuff are nice. I didn't get to see the rooms and stuff, but just one apartment. So, it was a small one. It was just a small one-bedroom, and the kitchen was pretty small. It was not homie. A few people I met on the elevator weren't friendly, but that's the people though, you can't control that."

"The staff was so friendly and helpful during the search & move-in process. They answered my countless questions, and has so much patience with my grandparents as they navigated this change. They are very responsive, and maintain the building so well for the residents. Now that my grandparents are all settled, we are so happy with the facility, staff and all of the amenities!"

"The thing I like best about American House Sterling Woods is the people. Everyone here is so nice, the staff and residents. I'm a picky eater, and I'm on a special diet, I'm supposed to have low salt and things like that, so the food is good. I put my garbage outside and it seems like it's only out there for an hour or two and then it's picked up. Everything is clean. I can see them always vacuuming and wiping things down. Every night is a game night of some sort like bingo We took a trip to the casino last week. There are some religious activities. But I'm not a person who likes a lot of activities. I like being by myself, I like reading, and I like doing jigsaw puzzles and things like that. I love my room though. It's 900 square feet, but it feels a lot larger. It's very well put together."

"I toured Magnolia by the Lakes. They were very nice, like a one-bedroom apartment, with beautiful decorations, nice kitchen cupboards, and everything you would need to stay for a couple of weeks or a month. They had a nice walk-in shower, you have the grab bars and everything that seniors need, very nicely appointed. The young man was very friendly. He did a great job. They have a pool and a lift that if someone has difficulty getting in the pool, then the lift can be used, and a nice dining area, just a very nice facility. It's very homey and it's designed like every one area is kind of like a European bistro kind of decoration and just very, very nice. The staff was enthusiastic and friendly."

"Shorehaven, Heather the director and staff have been great to my Mother, just the kind of place I was looking for and thank God I found it. This place is just like family."

"I'm at Independence Village of Waterford. I like everything here. I was kind of apprehensive when I moved in, but I changed quickly and it was so inviting and so friendly. I had friends right away. I've been here a little over two years now. My apartment is very nice and they offer house cleaning once a week. They do the bathroom and changing of the sheets and towels. Even the design of the building is very different from a conventional building. It kind of reminds me of a Southern homestead with the columns and the overhang and stuff like that. We have an atrium and we have a lot of activities. We have entertainment here once a week and sometimes twice a week. This is outside the entertainment that comes in. We have games every day of some sort. They also offer chair exercise via the TV seven days a week and then three days a week we have individuals that direct exercise. The staff is very caring. If you've got a problem, they try to get on it right away. They encourage you to let them know if you've got a problem. The longer I'm here, the more I like it. I'm enjoying life more now than I have in quite a while. I'm very relaxed and I just feel so at home. They provide breakfast, lunch and dinner. On special occasions, like Easter, Christmas, and New Year's, they do a big buffet. It was set up special and more elaborate than the regular meals. They have so many activities, you have trouble choosing some days. From other places around here, this place is less expensive and offers more. The value is excellent for your money."

"My father-in-law is a resident of The Pines Senior Living. The place has a studio, is spacious, and has an administrator who can get things going and make things happen. The food is okay, and the place is pretty clean. The size of his room might be around 900 square feet. He has a small kitchen, a living room, a bedroom, and a decent-sized bathroom. The dining area is spacious."

"I toured American House Sterling Heights. It didn't seem as busy or active as the other facility, but it was a nice, clean, and friendly environment. I met only one other staff member besides the manager there, but they were friendly and nice. The setup didn't kind of feel that one too much."

"We went to Baldwin House Senior Living Lakeside. It was very nice. We liked it a lot. It was nothing like the other ones. It was like an apartment feeling. They had walk-in closets and a walk-in pantry. We wish my mother-in-law would have gone with us. The staff member who showed us around was really nice and very informative. Everything looked clean. The cafeteria was nice. She showed us both the one-bedroom and the two-bedroom, and they were both nice. There was a lot of space in the kitchen and living room, and a lot of cupboard space."

"The things I like best about Villa Bella of Clinton Township are the size of the rooms and the cost, which is important to me. The VA is going to pay for a big part of the cost, but I still have to pay for some of it. They also have three meals a day. I enjoyed the meal that I had there, it was good. The staff members I met during the visit were nice and friendly. They were patient when I had a hard time walking."
