"Mother is living in Town Village, and I decided to increase the support that she’s getting there to see how it works out. They don’t provide assisted living themselves; they have a company that comes there if you hire them. I don't have any problems at all with this facility. The staff is very helpful, very kind, and very dedicated. Any time I’ve had a concern, they addressed it immediately. She has early stages of Alzheimer's and was kind of isolating herself. She’s on the third story and the hallways are real long. She has COPD, so it’s hard for her to go anywhere. I’m a little bit worried about that because of the way the building is set up, but it’s a beautiful facility. The rooms are very nice and very well maintained. She has a one-bedroom, but they also have two-bedrooms. The swimming pool was another reason why I decided to keep her there because it’s one activity that my mother will consistently engage in. She has a cat that she loves and able to keep there. "

"I toured American House Village at Bloomfield. The people and the facilities looked pretty good. The staff was seemed friendly and caring. They seemed to know like they knew what they were doing. The facility has been seemed like it was nice and in good condition to give a good impression . The layout was pretty good and it has presented enough room to be able to move around in the room. I tasted the food, and at that time, it was still warm and it was good."

"I toured Baldwin House Senior Living Oakland. It was clean. The people seem friendly. It didn't stink. There were people there, the housekeeper, you could see them, and they were already there working. The residents seemed like they were happy. I'd seen some of the apartments they had. They were on the little side, but you don't need a lot of room. The staff was average. They didn't go out of their way to do anything, but they weren't rude or nasty either. They have a beauty salon. They had an exercise room. They had a room. They had a piano in it. They have a community room. They had different things. They can improve on their prices."

"The residents of American House Troy were very active, much more so that what we found in other facilities. It's a very nice facility. My dad has his own apartment. They have a lot of activities to keep everybody busy,they provide transportation a couple times a week to local shopping centers. The medical staff just seems very nice, very friendly, and they have some kind of an ala-carte system. It's really an independent living place, but we are able to purchase the services that we need for my dad to be taken care of. We are very happy with it and it's close by to all of us, which was a big requirement. It needed to be able to take animals and this place just meets all of our needs. There had been some things that we've not been happy with, but they are kind of minor. "

"Elmhaven is a nice and newer facility, but they don’t have as many activities. The staff was very good. There are one- and two-bedroom apartments. They have musicians come in, do crafts, and have physical therapy and a beauty parlor. "

"My Mom is living at Pine Ridge of Plumbrook Senior Living and our family is 100% happy. After looking at every other place for my Mom we decided on Pine Ridge. It is not only the cleanest place we've seen but it's the friendliest. The entire staff is like family to everyone. There is always an activity or outing planned for those who want to join in. The food is good and they are always taking suggestions and trying to meet the needs of all. Opportunities to leave the building and go shopping or take field trips or out for a meal are offered weekly. Entertainment is brought in 1-2 times per week. The staff at Pine Ridge go above and beyond what is expected and is done in a friendly, caring manner."

"American House was fine. Lorraine was very helpful. She took me up to the second floor to look at the apartment, and she explained everything to me. She was very informative and friendly. The facility was OK, but they didn't have good access to parking. I had to walk quite a distance to get to the building where I had to park. It is so congested and they didn't have enough space to park over there. Luckily, I'm not handicapped, I can walk OK, but the layout seemed fine, and the apartment looked nice."

"Atria Shorehaven wouldn't work for us because in order to use my aunt's long-term care insurance, she needs a licensed community where she is getting checked on more often than once every eight hours. The rooms were beautiful, though. It's a very nice setup. They also had great activities. "

"My Mom, Sister and I are very happy with her transition from living at her family home for 60 years to a very comfortable apartment at Independence Village. The Community is very pretty with lovely small group areas that have allowed Mom to host her family for game nights multiple times. She has lots of storage and very ample space in her apartment. Shereida and the staff are caring, know people by name and solidify that Mom made the right choice in apartment living at Independence Village!"

"Pine Ridge of Hayes Senior Living is a really cute community. The cutest thing about it is they actually have outdoor living space for the residents. It was the only property we looked at that was all on 1-floor. If you have somebody who is on a motor scooter or needs handicapped accessibility, you don’t have to worry about stairs or about elevators, which is great. Mom liked this place because it was all on one floor. They had screened porches for every resident, so off the back of your apartment you had a screened in porch, so you could still have a little outdoor time, and they have a little garden club. The residents were a little older than mom, but the activities director and the staff were very in-tune with the residents. There were only 83 or 85 residents, so it was the best ratio as far as residents to the location. She had put a down payment on them as far as to hold the apartment. They have one apartment coming available, so we were really interested in moving forward, and this was the first place we looked at that didn’t have a wait, so there was a lot of positive to it. But the apartments were just so outdated and I don’t know if they fix them up before they put the residents into them. This one hadn’t been fixed up yet, but there was apparent mold damage. It was really outdated, and there was also a gentleman smoking right in front of the building when we got there. He was a resident, and that really turned us off because mom, every time she was watching the front door, would complain about that cigarette smoke. Charlene was the woman we spoke to, and she was a blessing. I really commend her for all of her efforts; she was great. I also talked to her colleague, Mary, over the phone, and she was great as well. I cannot say enough good things about the folks that work there, and we’ve already told them that we would keep them in mind if there was another move in the near future. Each apartment has a dropdown like an attic storage area, and you don’t see that anywhere. So if you have somebody who is looking to move and has a lot of stuff, rather junking the trunk, this might be the place you might look for because you have enough attic space in there, and there is nothing extra added to your rent because it is in your apartment. "

"American House Sterling Heights was nice. Everything was good. The apartments were very nice and spacious. The facility was very clean and very inviting. The dining area was very nice and the staff was extremely nice as well. They were doing arts and crafts that day, but they told me weekly, that they do bingo, arts and crafts, movie night in the movie room, and bible study. They gave me lunch to take to my parents and they said it was good."

"We decided on Baldwin House Senior Living Lakeside (Lakeside) for my mom. One of the main things was that they had an open dining room, and they had 24/7 medical staff on site. The staff was friendly, it was clean, and it was very similar to the apartment she has now. I've had three tours there, with different family members, and they were very accommodating with their scheduling and the tours. They seem to have a lot for them to do, and they check on the residents. They had a salon, a workout room, an activity room, and all types of things. It was closer to me than where she currently is, and that was between my sister and me, between the two of us."
