"It provides three meals a day; they have full breakfast, their main meal is lunch, and then they have an evening meal. The staff was very nice, and they have a gazillion of activities."

Pontiac Village Estates Co-op, is located off of Walton Boulevard, just west of Perry Road. This 77-unit apartment building opened its doors in November 2014, with spacious apartments, a computer center, an exercise room, gated parking, and much more! A pleasant living environment is provided with a buzzer/intercom system in every apartment that is operated by the resident/member for entry into the building. Pontiac Village Estates Co-op offers a healthier and safer environment to live in by being a 100% smoke-free building. Smoking is not allowed within the individual apartments, the common areas, and within 25 feet of the building. Activities are planned by the resident/members and include luncheons, dinners, bingo, card nights, exercise classes, and many other activities. Members have a voice in the management of the building and are encouraged to participate. The co-op is within walking distance to the bus line, retail establishments, and an urgent care facility.

"We've chosen this community for my mother, and we're hoping to move her this March. It was great, it was nice, it was somewhere I felt comfortable with her being. It is spacious. They have different apartment types, and it was nice. It's almost like a senior apartment. They had a library, salon, and dining area. It looked very nice. The staff is very nice."

"I found a place at American House. It is nice. The apartments are really nice and big. The food is really good. I love the food. Their dining room is set up really nicely. If there is anything I need, I would call up the staff, and they would try to help me and see what they could do for me. Also, there is transportation to the supermarkets. If there are places you want to go, they would take you there as well. They have games too. "

"My mother-in-law lives in Elmhaven Manor. It is the one that she picked. It is very clean and looks like it has been remodeled recently. They have lots of amenities. Lots of people are walking and talking around. They only serve one meal a day, but my mother-in-law doesn't eat that much. They don't have car service, but they have two different kinds of shopping. I don't think all of the food is fresh, but my mother-in-law seems happy enough with it. It is a nice place, and her room is very nice. The staff members seem to be very cooperative. They had a market last week where people could bring things in to sell or buy."

"Brookdale Southfield is an excellent community. It is well-maintained and they have a very friendly staff. The accommodations and amenities are wonderful. We got a chance to see the residents engaged in just about every portion of Brookdale Southfield. The dining halls, activities centers, libraries, and even the outside walkways and areas were well maintained. Everything was very, very well done. I thought the facilities were excellent. As you enter, they have a very beautiful welcoming lobby area for the guests/residents. So, it's very accessible and very comfortable. We also got a chance to see the efficiencies, one-bedroom, two and three-bedroom. We visited a former neighbor who's a resident there that knows my mom and that went very well. We had a tour and afterward an ample time for questions and explaining how life at Brookdale Southfield would be. So, my family and I were very pleased. We learned about the weekly schedule and transportation, which days were for banking, shopping, and doctor's appointments. There are exercise activities, a pool, games, and a room with theater seating which could also double as a concert area where they have local artists from time to time come in and perform. There were lots of puzzle tables and small room activities to do crafts. The dining area was superb. Not only that it's aesthetically beautiful, but it looks very clean. There's also a second-floor dining room (not just on the main floor) for residents who aren't able to travel or don't wish to come down, which I thought was a nice option. The rooms were very modern. They have pull cords in the bed area and the restroom. The kitchen area is well-designed with accessibility for wheelchairs and walkers. I think it's very well-placed, even for a one-bedroom unit. The two ladies who toured us around were very patient. We got a folder on the completion of our visit that explained everything that we saw and visited. I liked having those take-home packets so that we can go back and review what we saw."

"All Seasons of West Bloomfield was an impressive facility. It's new and there were lots of common areas. The dining options seemed better than what anyone expected. The actual rooms were bigger than the other places, and 50% bigger than the other place for the same price. The facility itself was better. It was large and very attractive. There was a lot of space inside. There were different activity rooms and multiple private rooms. The dining room was large and very nicely done and the menu was extensive. The rooms have a separate bedroom, a living room, a dining room, and a kitchen. They're small apartments. The staff was always attentive, professional, and friendly."

"Mom is at Sterling Place. It is OK. It's not bad up there. The only thing is, they got new management and they used to serve three meals a day, but they're cutting out the main breakfast to just continental breakfast, and they are supposed to have a good lunch, but they're cutting out the dinner altogether and they're saying now they'll drop their rent a couple hundred dollars because they're knocking off the dinner and the breakfast. The staff seems pretty good. Right now, since the new management has taken over, they're cleaning a whole lot of stuff. They're putting in a new carpet and painting everything. So, they're cleaning it up pretty well. They've been having a lot of activities like games and I believe they have some kind of a church session going on because I know they do a lot of prayers and stuff like that, but I don't know in the future if they're cutting down a couple of those or not."

"We loved Lockwood of Waterford. The tour and amenities were fantastic. We spent a couple of hours there. The food looked great, and their little apartments were cute. The place was very clean, very neat, and very inviting. The residents were busy because they had something going on every single day. We loved it because if you want to be busy, you can be, and if you don’t, you don’t have to participate. "

"We toured Canterbury on the Lake. It was very nice. The person that gave the tour was very helpful and very knowledgeable about the facility. We got to walk through from the front door all the way through the dining room and the common areas. We got to see a couple of different apartments with different floor plans. So that was nice to be able to do that. We got a sample of their menu, activity, and calendars, and then we got a packet of floor plans and applications. We got to sit down and have our questions answered. The building itself is beautiful. They're small apartments basically, but they have all the necessities. They have a kitchenette and they have their closet space. It looked clean."
