"My father is living here. They're very good. They don't have crystal chandeliers, but it's a clean place. I like it and I like the caregivers and people. It's a good place and I'm pretty happy with it. The rooms are about 400 square feet and I was able to bring my father's furniture. There's a walk-in closet, shower, refrigerator, and a microwave. They also have rooms that have kitchens. They take the seniors out to restaurants and different places. They play bingo every day, uno, card games, memory games, there was a Super Bowl party and Valentine's Day party. My dad loves the food."

"It was nice, but it's for people who are more outgoing. The apartments were very nice and spacious, but they didn't have a full kitchen and a laundry inside. There was only one dining area, and it looked like it had a very big community. The food was kind of salty for me. They take the residents to the grocery store. It's not for a more reclusive type of person."

Pontiac Village Estates Co-op, is located off of Walton Boulevard, just west of Perry Road. This 77-unit apartment building opened its doors in November 2014, with spacious apartments, a computer center, an exercise room, gated parking, and much more! A pleasant living environment is provided with a buzzer/intercom system in every apartment that is operated by the resident/member for entry into the building. Pontiac Village Estates Co-op offers a healthier and safer environment to live in by being a 100% smoke-free building. Smoking is not allowed within the individual apartments, the common areas, and within 25 feet of the building. Activities are planned by the resident/members and include luncheons, dinners, bingo, card nights, exercise classes, and many other activities. Members have a voice in the management of the building and are encouraged to participate. The co-op is within walking distance to the bus line, retail establishments, and an urgent care facility.

"The people who were in American House Southfield were cheerful and everything, but I wasn't that impressed with the rooms. I don't think they were that big. I am sure they must have had larger rooms but not full apartments. People weren't really doing anything because it was around lunch time, and they had the same kind of setup where they have different things going on. I guess there's a monthly publication, and they put up calendars of what is going on. No matter where I was, I really liked it, especially the common areas because everyone seems upbeat. There was a lot of fun talk happening with the people who work there, even the people who would do the laundry and things like that. It wasn't people acting professional so that you would feel like you were in a church or something. They were friendly, and I was really impressed because of the way I was made to feel. I could see myself there, and I could see myself not offending anyone if I didn't sit and have dinner with them every day. The director was great -- that's who showed me around. The person that they had come and get me took me to both locations because she works for both, and she was really nice and friendly in the way she treated other people in the van while she still had me. It was just really nice. I was impressed with the size of the apartment and the space and storage, and it was just a cheerful place. The director was really nice; I feel like she was being genuine. "

"My mother-in-law lives in Elmhaven Manor. It is the one that she picked. It is very clean and looks like it has been remodeled recently. They have lots of amenities. Lots of people are walking and talking around. They only serve one meal a day, but my mother-in-law doesn't eat that much. They don't have car service, but they have two different kinds of shopping. I don't think all of the food is fresh, but my mother-in-law seems happy enough with it. It is a nice place, and her room is very nice. The staff members seem to be very cooperative. They had a market last week where people could bring things in to sell or buy."

"Brookdale Southfield is an excellent community. It is well-maintained and they have a very friendly staff. The accommodations and amenities are wonderful. We got a chance to see the residents engaged in just about every portion of Brookdale Southfield. The dining halls, activities centers, libraries, and even the outside walkways and areas were well maintained. Everything was very, very well done. I thought the facilities were excellent. As you enter, they have a very beautiful welcoming lobby area for the guests/residents. So, it's very accessible and very comfortable. We also got a chance to see the efficiencies, one-bedroom, two and three-bedroom. We visited a former neighbor who's a resident there that knows my mom and that went very well. We had a tour and afterward an ample time for questions and explaining how life at Brookdale Southfield would be. So, my family and I were very pleased. We learned about the weekly schedule and transportation, which days were for banking, shopping, and doctor's appointments. There are exercise activities, a pool, games, and a room with theater seating which could also double as a concert area where they have local artists from time to time come in and perform. There were lots of puzzle tables and small room activities to do crafts. The dining area was superb. Not only that it's aesthetically beautiful, but it looks very clean. There's also a second-floor dining room (not just on the main floor) for residents who aren't able to travel or don't wish to come down, which I thought was a nice option. The rooms were very modern. They have pull cords in the bed area and the restroom. The kitchen area is well-designed with accessibility for wheelchairs and walkers. I think it's very well-placed, even for a one-bedroom unit. The two ladies who toured us around were very patient. We got a folder on the completion of our visit that explained everything that we saw and visited. I liked having those take-home packets so that we can go back and review what we saw."

"All Seasons of West Bloomfield is very clean and it doesn't look like a typical place for the elderly. It's more upscale and vibrant. The staff is very friendly. Everything was just perfect for my aunt. "

"I went here. There were a lot of options for community activities. I like the fact that you could get your choice of carpet or laminate flooring, that looks like hardwood, but it was laminate. It was a clean facility. The grounds were nice, and the staff was nice. The staff was a perfect fit for the job, very personable, really informative. She took a lot of notes as to what I wanted. They offered meals, but in the apartment, there was a kitchenette. Their kitchen was small, but it had full-size appliances. They had a washer-dryer on the floor, which they offered the option of someone doing your laundry, or you're doing that yourself. The kitchen had a stove, a microwave, and a refrigerator. They had a balcony and courtyard."

"We loved Lockwood of Waterford. The tour and amenities were fantastic. We spent a couple of hours there. The food looked great, and their little apartments were cute. The place was very clean, very neat, and very inviting. The residents were busy because they had something going on every single day. We loved it because if you want to be busy, you can be, and if you don’t, you don’t have to participate. "

"We toured Canterbury on the Lake. It was very nice. The person that gave the tour was very helpful and very knowledgeable about the facility. We got to walk through from the front door all the way through the dining room and the common areas. We got to see a couple of different apartments with different floor plans. So that was nice to be able to do that. We got a sample of their menu, activity, and calendars, and then we got a packet of floor plans and applications. We got to sit down and have our questions answered. The building itself is beautiful. They're small apartments basically, but they have all the necessities. They have a kitchenette and they have their closet space. It looked clean."
