I visited this facility

I liked that American House Stone is just one floor so my mother would not have to deal with any stairs or elevators and the price point was important to us. We were fortunate to be able to eat a meal there and my mother, who is very particular, enjoyed the food. There were a lot of options for her. If she didn't want somebody doing her laundry for her, they said that that was no problem and that she could do her own laundry. So, there were things like that, which made her feel more that she was living independently and not reliant on somebody else for everything, which was important to her. She didn't want to feel like she was giving up total control, and they were very willing to work with her on that. Everybody was very kind to us. This was the second time that some of us had visited there, and they remembered us from a previous visit, which was surprising even to remember the names. So, we're very pleased with how we were treated. They were friendly, helpful, and very kind. They even gave my mother a to-go container of more food, because she liked it so much. The facility was clean, but there were a few things that were dated or wear and tear, but nothing bad. The room that my mother is going to be moving into has a new carpet, new paint, and things like that. There were four of us that they served lunch to, and everyone was very pleased with the food.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom is currently in American House Stone and I love it there. They have very well-kept-up grounds with a couple of gardens, they call them the hummingbird gardens. They got a little lake or retention pond behind the building that you can walk through, but it's fenced off so you can't get to it, but it's good. The grounds are very well-maintained. Her apartment is very nice. They go from pretty good-sized one-bedroom ones to a pretty big studio. We have Mom in a little one but it's all she needs and it's safer. They've got a lot of activities like music, singing, bingo, and puzzles, they do hallway bowling and hallway ring toss. They're very active and they have a bus that goes offsite once a week. The food that I had was really good. The staff that I got to know are all good, they definitely go above and beyond. They keep eyes on my mother and other residents, they know them by their names, and say hi to them in the hallways. They also check on them when they don't have to, and the people there that are not technically independent get by very nicely. It's actually less than what we're paying before, and we're getting more for the money.

I thought American House Stone was gorgeous. The staff was very friendly and very nice. Their dessert was good, too. They gave us like a strawberry shortcake or something. The facility was just as clean. I liked it. It was quite large, and that appealed to me if I was going to be going. They had a lot of lovely pictures on the walls. It felt homey because when you walked down the halls there were settees where you could sit down, read a paper or a book, and that made it feel homey. It felt cozy. However, just the fact that it was bigger for my mom, I felt the other one would work better for her. It was a very good experience. I was very impressed. When you walk up to the building, it feels very welcoming, and it doesn't feel strange or institutional. It felt almost like a home right away, and that was a nice feeling. That was very good. There's nothing that I did not like. Nothing that I felt even questionable about it. Everything was just the way I'd like it to be. They have a courtyard, and they offer three meals a day.

American House Stone seemed very nice. I would move out there myself, but it's just so far away. It was a very nice-sized community, everything was on one floor, and their staffing was good. They had a lot to offer the residents. They had things where they do crafts and bingo, and had different things that the residents could do. The upkeep of the place was good, and the person who gave me the tour was excellent. The dining area was nice, but I didn't have an opportunity to taste the food. Their outdoor area was very spacious, it's a huge place in comparison to the other American House facility that I toured. Everything about it was good.

We toured American House Stone. The appearance is nice. They had a sitting area, and the dining room was all set up for people to go down and eat. I'm thinking, 'Wow, this is nice. I could move in.' And then we were greeted by the lady who was taking us on a tour. Everything we saw was nice and clean. Everybody who we came in contact with was very friendly. They showed us a studio and a one-bedroom. The studio was nice, we just thought it was a little small because it had a living area and a bedroom area together and then a little thing for a kitchen. Then she showed us a one-bedroom, which we both liked. It had a separate bedroom, a separate living room, and a separate kitchen, and we thought that that was very nice. I thought it was a very nice place, but our situation right now is money. When we walked through the dining room, it was set up and I thought, 'Well, this is nice,' and it would be nice because it was kind of like they would get the residents out of the room and they would come down there and they would have contact with other people, and I just thought, 'Well, that's kind of a nice situation.' The staff who assisted us was very pleasant and very nice. She answered any questions that we had. She was very helpful. The facility looked very clean, and it didn't smell.

The tour I had with American House Stone was nice. I got a chance to see the room and the display was nice. I also went into another room, because they had one place where two people could live, and I thought that was a good idea. If you didn't have the proper funds, you could share a room. I went during Christmas time and their decorations were beautiful. I looked in the room where they were eating and they had some of the staff members sitting there, helping, and assisting them. The facility itself was pretty clean and their hallways were really wide. So, you can wheel your wheelchair down and the person could still be on the side and not bump into each other. The lady that I spoke to from the administration and the person who came out to analyze my mom were both nice. They have been doing follow-up calls to see if I would like to come to their facility. The atmosphere was very nice, comfortable, and it felt very secure and safe.

I liked American House Stone. They've got knowledgeable and caring staff. The location was good because it's not far from me. I liked their amenities. The only thing that I did not like was they wanted to put mom on a lower level and she would have to use a ramp and she can't use ramps. When I was touring, the staff got many interruptions. She would take phone calls and she would take a person at her door, and I was getting frustrated because of interruptions. They had a game room, a library, a salon, and a nice dining room. It was clean.

I toured American House Stone. I didn't like that one off the get-go. The studio was small, and they didn't have much going on there. The little common area where they call it their movie room was very tight and confined. They had a lot of residents packed in there and nobody was wearing masks, so that was a concern for me, and it is right in as soon as you walk into the door. The community itself was pretty small, and the hallways and the rooms were small altogether. It just looked old and outdated. It wasn't something that I was willing to put my mom in because I felt uncomfortable there.

American House Stone was good. The lady who talked with us, the manager, Patti, she's been very good, exceptional. And we were pleased with the place all around. There was a Catholic church directly across from the location. They had the bus that would be able to take them to their doctor's appointments. And if they didn't make it to a dinner or lunch or breakfast, they would box it up and bring it to their rooms for no extra price. We just generally liked the place. When we were there the last time, there was a guitar player. Someone was playing a game on a chart with the residents. The staff members were very friendly. We met the housekeeper, we met the lady who does the laundry, we met the manager, and we met the gentleman who drives the bus. And they all were very friendly.

It is very inviting. I had a nice tour and the staff member who showed us around was friendly, nice, and knowledgeable. They're always doing something to accommodate the residents during the holidays and they go on outings.

My dad stayed and they're very helpful. I was able to place my dad quickly, and he integrated into some of their activities even though he has only been there a couple of weeks. He was able to go on a couple of outings, go out to dinner with a group of people, and enjoy the in-house activities for a piano player and musical. He enjoyed the dining and being able to incorporate a few other male friends at his table and able to be taken back and forth to his dialysis in Rochester. Sometimes they would fix him something that was requested outside of what they were actually eating. It was a good experience for a couple of weeks. The medical care was giving his medication appropriately and assisted him when he needed it.

Everything was very good. There was no problem. My father was there for six weeks. He was happy there. The food was good. He enjoyed it, and he ate everything when he could. He had a room, and it was nice.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I have been staying here for about a week now. The staff here is very friendly, and the location is convenient. They have varied activities, not as many as I would like, though. They only offer them once or twice a week, and there are days that they have no activities. We have card games, exercise programs, and bingo.
