"I loved American House Sterling Woods, and it was beautiful. My in-person visit was excellent. The tour guide was very pleasant and engaging as a person. I met several of the staff. I saw several residents, and I talked to a few. The apartments that the staff showed me were fabulous. I could move in tomorrow if that was what I wanted to do. It was beautifully clean and spacious. Their dining area looked adequate. The one thing I liked was that it showed me how small the group of people who live there is. The staff told me they're redoing the exercise room and going to have updated machines in there."

"We toured American House Stone. The appearance is nice. They had a sitting area, and the dining room was all set up for people to go down and eat. I'm thinking, 'Wow, this is nice. I could move in.' And then we were greeted by the lady who was taking us on a tour. Everything we saw was nice and clean. Everybody who we came in contact with was very friendly. They showed us a studio and a one-bedroom. The studio was nice, we just thought it was a little small because it had a living area and a bedroom area together and then a little thing for a kitchen. Then she showed us a one-bedroom, which we both liked. It had a separate bedroom, a separate living room, and a separate kitchen, and we thought that that was very nice. I thought it was a very nice place, but our situation right now is money. When we walked through the dining room, it was set up and I thought, 'Well, this is nice,' and it would be nice because it was kind of like they would get the residents out of the room and they would come down there and they would have contact with other people, and I just thought, 'Well, that's kind of a nice situation.' The staff who assisted us was very pleasant and very nice. She answered any questions that we had. She was very helpful. The facility looked very clean, and it didn't smell."

"Pine Ridge of Plumbrook was excellent. It's very friendly. Exceptional food. Many amenities. The dining area is very, very nice. The rooms are also very nice. They are not large though. The upkeep is gorgeous. The grounds are very nice. They have a walking path around the facility, which is not large. I think they have 117 apartments. They have a beauty salon. They have a small theater. They have physical therapy five days a week. They have transportation, and they have scheduled shopping trips. They have a small chapel and a small exercise area."

"My wife and I will be moving into American House The Village. We liked the layout, the food, the friendliness of the people we met, and the price was good. Their staff, Kim, did a very nice job, we liked her. Tim, the maintenance man, did some extra things for me, and I appreciate it. The food was good. We saw several people doing puzzles, playing games, eating, and shopping. We had the choice of several rooms, and we took the one that was laid out the best for our needs. They're all about the same; in every place we visited, it's all about the same size. It's a challenge for us, downsizing."

"I went to Royal Oak Manor Co-op. I like it better than the other place. It was extra friendly. I like that they didn't just put me on a list and leave me there. The lady said she would give me a call if something came up really soon. She took my name and everything. They were great. I like the place. I like the area. It was away from the main roads. The rooms were nice. It was a nice set-up. They had a big laundry room, and I like that, too."

"I went to Park Place (American House). It was a great place and it had a lot of facilities, it had a movie room and game rooms, excellent dining and it had an indoor little pond area. I've only met a couple of the staff, they were all very nice. I thought that that was the best of the ones that I visited."

"Windermere was very nice, and it had a beautiful garden area. The independent living had a living room, bedroom and a nice kitchen with a washer and dryer. They also have a swimming pool, assisted living, and now they’re putting up a nursing area. The dining area is very nice. The tables did not have covers on them, but they were nice tables. The staff seemed to be very nice. The rooms in the assisted living were also very nice. It was big with a bathroom, bedroom with a double dresser, a sofa, and a recliner. They had coffee every morning, and they had a nice area for entertainment. They had someone come to either sing or play a musical instrument. "

"I toured American House Sterling Heights. It didn't seem as busy or active as the other facility, but it was a nice, clean, and friendly environment. I met only one other staff member besides the manager there, but they were friendly and nice. The setup didn't kind of feel that one too much."

"The Baldwin House Hazel Park's independent living has a nice staff. They also have an activity room. I didn't see the dining room because I wasn't looking for anything like that. I do my own cooking, so I didn't need to pay extra to go down to the dining room. However, they provided meals and everything, and that was in the cost, so I ruled them out right away. As far as the building itself, the atmosphere was fine, but I didn't see many people out and about, and most of the ones that I did see were in wheelchairs. The apartments I saw were also really small. They have a room set up with three or four washers and a couple of dryers for laundry."

"My mother moved into American House. They're very friendly, everything is up to code, it's beautiful, and my mother is very happy with it. She has a 2-bedroom on the first floor, it's huge, and she loves it. They have Bingo, a pool table, puzzles, exercise, a TV downstairs in the living room, and they love to watch the ballgame. The have a gazebo right outside her room, people go out there in the evening, and it's really nice. They have a bus that takes them shopping, to doctors' offices, and to the bank. The hallways were just redone. They just put a breakfast bar in the dining room, and in the entryway, they've got a place for coffee, drinks, cereal, and pastries 24 hours a day. The food was delicious. The staff was very friendly, and everybody seemed to know the residents by name. It's right next to a Meijer's shopping center."

"It had a lot of stuff to offer. It's a nice place. The apartments were nice. They have a movie night. They go on little shopping trips. They have a nice dining area. The staff was nice and informative."

"I love the American House Southfield Senior Living. It is spacious, the kitchen area is good, it has a big walk-in living room, just like apartment living, and you have a balcony. They have food, and people come in to clean the apartment. It’s just that they’re too expensive. I needed a two-bedroom for my daughter to come with me. I saw some of the workers and staff, and they want me to come for two or three nights to stay and see how I like it. It was clean on the inside and out. "

"We went to Shorehaven. The layout of the rooms was pretty nice. The fact that they had balconies or patios for every unit was nice. The negative part was it didn't have a workout room and I'm not crazy about either of any of the facilities where all the food is included. One other thing that I saw was they had an outside patio where you could sit and eat, and then they also had somewhat of a lake or a pond where you can go out sit by the pond. The facility looked like it was in pretty good shape for the age of the building. The apartments were more than adequate."
