"My stepdad will move into Windemere Park Warren. He's just in assisted living. He could come and go if he wants. There's a doctor there. There's someone to do his feet. They have so many amenities there. It's a wonderful place. I told him I would love to live there myself if I were a senior citizen. The atmosphere when you first come in is really nice. The staff was very friendly and concerned. Everything was in its place, and everything was in order. Even when I went to look at their food, everything was in order. Everything was clean, and that's what I like. I checked their dining area, and it looks like a regular restaurant."

"I went here. This was a high-class place. When you walked in, it was elegant. That was like the regular assisted living and such, and then you went into the memory care part, and it was the same as the assisted living with the same set-up building. It was clean, cheerful, and elegant. The staff were very nice. They seemed very attentive. They were great. They seemed to have activities going on, and they're right next to a dog park, which for my mother would interest her. If she couldn't be at the dog park, she would be able to watch the people and their dogs, which is equally as enjoyable. They had it all. They had the gym. They had a nice courtyard. They do activities with them. They've got a weekly sheet of what they do every day, and it seemed to be pretty active. In terms of location, for me, I live in Troy, so it's close. It's a very lively area."

"I toured American House Sterling Heights. It didn't seem as busy or active as the other facility, but it was a nice, clean, and friendly environment. I met only one other staff member besides the manager there, but they were friendly and nice. The setup didn't kind of feel that one too much."

"The thing I like best about American House Sterling Woods is the people. Everyone here is so nice, the staff and residents. I'm a picky eater, and I'm on a special diet, I'm supposed to have low salt and things like that, so the food is good. I put my garbage outside and it seems like it's only out there for an hour or two and then it's picked up. Everything is clean. I can see them always vacuuming and wiping things down. Every night is a game night of some sort like bingo We took a trip to the casino last week. There are some religious activities. But I'm not a person who likes a lot of activities. I like being by myself, I like reading, and I like doing jigsaw puzzles and things like that. I love my room though. It's 900 square feet, but it feels a lot larger. It's very well put together."

"My mother has been in StoryPoint Birmingham for just a little shy of a month. So far, the experience has been excellent. All the staff is warm, caring and attentive. She has the studio size apartment which includes a kitchenette, full-size closet, bathroom, shower, full-size refrigerator, and microwave. The staff is wonderful, warm and caring. I have not tried any food, but my daughter did actually today and she said it was excellent. My mother had said it's very good as well. It's very clean and well maintained. They have regular programs, and you have a schedule of them every day. They also have different activities, people who come in, there have been musicians and various things like that. There's a courtyard where they can sit, eat, and gather. There's also a front kind of like porch area where the residents sit, talk and engage with each other. Value for money, compared to everybody else, they are the best. They made this process very easy and helped me navigate my way to make a difficult decision."

"My mother moved into American House. They're very friendly, everything is up to code, it's beautiful, and my mother is very happy with it. She has a 2-bedroom on the first floor, it's huge, and she loves it. They have Bingo, a pool table, puzzles, exercise, a TV downstairs in the living room, and they love to watch the ballgame. The have a gazebo right outside her room, people go out there in the evening, and it's really nice. They have a bus that takes them shopping, to doctors' offices, and to the bank. The hallways were just redone. They just put a breakfast bar in the dining room, and in the entryway, they've got a place for coffee, drinks, cereal, and pastries 24 hours a day. The food was delicious. The staff was very friendly, and everybody seemed to know the residents by name. It's right next to a Meijer's shopping center."

"My mom will move into The Arbor Inn. When I went on the tour, it was big enough that she would have a wide pool of people that she could socialize with, yet small enough that you wouldn't be lost in the shuffle. The place was extremely clean. There was a couple there that were cleaning out a room, as the husband's father had passed away. While we were walking down the hall, they both told me what a wonderful place this was, how well they cared for their dad, and that I was making a good choice if I chose to have my mom go into that facility. So, with all that in consideration, that's why I chose the Arbor Inn. There was an ice cream social going on, and we joined in. The ice cream was good. The apartment is nice. It is a single with a private bath. It's spacious enough to get all the essentials in there for her, and she should be very comfortable. I met several members of the staff. They all seemed very friendly. It was obvious they cared for the patients they were attending to, which impressed me."

"Brookdale Troy is our top choice for my dad. It has a very inviting atmosphere. It was very clean and intimate, without being too small. Dan, the salesperson, has been wonderful. He just seemed to know what he was doing. In the studio room of the assisted living, we were told that we can bring our own mini fridge and a microwave. They have a courtyard with lots of sitting areas."

"I toured American House East I. I was impressed, and it was more impressive than the other 2 places I went to. I'm still waiting for an opening there. When I drove up, it looked like a very nice campus. The buildings were spread around, the lawns were mowed. There wasn't a lot of commotion outside or anything, so The outside looked good. And then when I went on the inside, it was huge inside, different places like a gym, and a dining room. The staff was excellent, a professional lady, worked with me very well, and she's very impressive. There are a lot of activities going around. I just wish I was living there right now so I can get involved and all that. They put the groups together and they talked about different things about aging, or they talked about exercises to do, to make you feel better."

"The care is excellent. Staff is very personable. It is a small group setting so everyone gets individual attention. There's a lot of joy in laughter in the house. Residents are usually one or two to a bedroom. Outings are planned for residents on a regular basis and birthdays and other holidays are celebrated well. They also manage medicine and doctor visits and provide visiting nurse services. It isrun by a beautiful family. "

"I toured the Serene Gardens of Rochester Hills and went to about seven different places, and that's the one that pretty much stuck. I liked the director and thought she was very dedicated and had some good ideas. You could tell that she was a caring person. I liked the whole atmosphere of the facility because it didn't look depressing. I met two of the activity directors there, and they had a lot of energy. You could tell the sincerity and care from them. It's a newer facility. I lived in the area, so I saw it going up. I was impressed with both the outside and the inside. The rooms were nice, large enough, and bright. It was a nice facility."
