I toured the Serene Gardens of Rochester Hills and went to about seven different places, and that's the one that pretty much stuck. I liked the director and thought she was very dedicated and had some good ideas. You could tell that she was a caring person. I liked the whole atmosphere of the facility because it didn't look depressing. I met two of the activity directors there, and they had a lot of energy. You could tell the sincerity and care from them. It's a newer facility. I lived in the area, so I saw it going up. I was impressed with both the outside and the inside. The rooms were nice, large enough, and bright. It was a nice facility.

We like Stratford Place, but they were deemed ineligible. It's a small community with just 26 people or so, and it was just very homey. We liked it very much, but they didn't qualify with my mother's policy. The staff was very personable and seemed to care about the residents. It was just a nice homey place. We were very sad that it didn't qualify. It's very clean. They have obviously a nice dining room. They have fireplaces, and it's just warm and cozy. They interact with the residents. It just was a perfect place. It's nice, clean, neat, and didn't smell or anything. They have assisted living and memory care, but we didn't go into the memory care.

My mom is in the assisted living of Stratford Place. Our experience is very very good. We're very satisfied with it. It's a very nice facility, and they have pretty much everything. They have meals, housekeeping, and doctor care. Their facilities are excellent.
