My mother moved into American House Elmwood. I think it is amazing. The people there are wonderful. Her room is very nice, roomy, and clean. It is perfect; it is big enough that it does not feel crowded. It is just a studio, but it is very, very nice, and very homey. She has just moved in, and I know they have exercise classes and different activities, but she really has not been up to it. I think she has played bingo already, and she's gotten her hair done, but she has not joined in the new setting yet. She's only been there for a week, so she's got to work up to that. But they have a lot to offer. The food is wonderful. The staff are kind and helpful. It is a really nice place, and I am very happy with my decision to have her move there. They've tried to get her to join in, and the activities director over there is amazing. There is lots for them to do; she just personally has not felt up to it. What I have seen happening inside the building is very cool.

The people at American House Elmwood were very pleasant. They were great. It seemed like a good place. The only thing is it's not all-inclusive. There are extra added fees and one thing I did not like is walking the halls. We smelled like air fresheners. The lady said it wasn't, but it set my lungs off right away. It was like a fake smell and in those places, you can't hide the smell. It's just impossible. The lady who gave the tour was wonderful. The apartments were nice. The dining area looked good. We didn't taste anything, but it was very nice and pleasant looking.

My sister has made a deposit and will be moving into American House Elmwood. The whole place was very clean. We chose it because it offered a very good-sized villa, which is independent living. She would prepare her own meals, so she did not get a meal plan. The staff who assisted us was excellent. They had a hair salon and a meeting room.

When I walked in American House Elmwood, it smelled beautiful, not like they're trying to cover up or anything. It just smelled very clean. I liked how you could walk around like a square, and you could see the dining room pretty much many times as you're going around that square. It seemed like it would be easy for my mom to get around in. I loved the assistant director. Her name is Jessica. She was just a lovely, lovely girl. She hit it off with my mom because she likes the same author that my mother likes. Right away there was a camaraderie. I like the smallness and the intimacy of the place. It's small, so my mom wouldn't feel so intimidated by that. It's little older, but it's OK because it's still nice, so I was quite pleased with them. I thought Jessica was very appropriate for her job, because she articulated her words and spoke very clearly, which is really important for people who can't hear. She's definitely gets an A-plus in my book. She was very good. They have a refrigerator in the unit. You have to have your own microwave and you can't use the burners, and those are turned off. When I toured the place, they gave us an apple pie that was absolutely out of this world. And I said, "Where did you get this because I want to buy more." The staff said, "We make them right here," so that had already sold me there. The place itself was very clean. There's a courtyard that is in the center of the whole facility. They said family is allowed to use those areas as well. They also have rooms where your family can have like a birthday party or something. They have access to a big room. It met all our needs, and they provide three meals a day.

I went to American House Elmwood. Everything was fine. The tour was adequate in order to get an assessment of what they offer and physically what the place looks like. However, we didn't like that the sink vanity in the bathroom was inadequate. The countertop surface of the sink was too small. The other thing was they didn't have a kitchen like an oven or a stove.

I visited American House Elmwood. The memory care was on the second level, and I didn't really care for that that much because it just was basically a hallway, rooms, a cafeteria, and a sitting area. There wasn't much up there. It's really small, but it was really nice. I just didn't personally like the layout of the upstairs with memory care. The main assisted living area was nice. The staff was really nice, informative, answered all the questions I had, and was very personable. We got a box of cookies, which is a nice gesture, and they were good. They had a gathering room, and the dining room was really nice.

American House Elmwood seemed to be a smaller, tight knit community. So, it is not as overwhelming. It was cozy. The staff and the residents all seemed to get along well. The rooms were smaller in size compared to some other places, which might be good for somebody who isn't very mobile. They have a recumbent bike in the hallway, so anybody could just get on it whenever they wanted. They were celebrating a Halloween party and the lobby was beautifully decorated.

The tour I had at American House Elmwood was great. The facility was excellent. It's at the top of my list. Jessica was phenomenal during the tour and even answered a lot of questions I hadn't thought about. They gave a sample of some cookies, which were excellent. The place was very clean and the layout was very good. I liked the 24-hour nursing care there. They have the shuttle, and they have the transfer. I liked that my father is assigned a table, so if he doesn't show up for a meal, it would be noticed.

We liked the apartments at American House Elmwood. We liked how the facility was laid out and all of the different events they had. It's just a large facility and won't be a good fit for my mother. Otherwise, we're very, very pleased. The person who gave us the tour was very upbeat, very helpful, answered many questions and took a lot of time with us. They have many patios and courtyards, too.

I checked out six places before I chose one for my mom. One of them was the American House Elmwood. She was on the waitlist there for a 1-bedroom, but they told her it would be up to a year. We were going to wait until January to move her but things got kind of not good so I needed to find a place sooner. We really liked Elmwood, but they just didn't have space. Their studios are really tiny, like a hotel room. I knew my mom wouldn't go for that. We liked them but we couldn't wait for the 1-bedroom to be available. We saw both the assisted living and memory care but we were looking for assisted living for my mom. Their actual apartments and stuff were just so tiny. We only saw the tour person because we had to go in on a Friday evening. I didn't get to see them interacting with people. All the other tours I had, I was able to do during the day when a lot was going on. Being that this tour was on a Friday evening, we didn't see any other staff at all, except for the tour person. We saw them back in August so it's been quite a while but I think they had a library. Of course, they had a dining room too. It's a much smaller place, so they didn't have as many amenities. The place was very clean but it was a little older and a little more worn.

The assisted living part of American House Elmwood I thought was great, but the memory care left much to be desired. We saw the memory care while they were eating lunch, and it all looked so sad. And they don't have a nice dining room as the assisted living did. They just had a room with folding tables. I thought the assisted living portion was great. But the memory care, there was much need for improvement there. The patients or residents, all look so sad. In the assisted living, we saw people in the halls, they were all happy, but in memory care , the residents of that portion just looked extremely sad. I saw no problem with the rooms other than it didn't have as much as the assisted living did. I can understand not letting them have a stove and whatnot. But assisted living may have refrigerators, a microwave, and a coffee pot, where the memory care was more like a studio apartment. It just had the bedroom, the living room, and a bath. I didn't see any of the staff in memory care, and I didn't see much staff in assisted living. They were in an office, but I didn't see them in the halls. But the woman that took us on the tour, was great. I believe her name was Jessica, and she was very, very nice and she seemed to be able to answer most questions that we had. We saw a little library area and they have an area for things like bingo. No activities were going on at the time, but I saw the area and it was nice. And I thought their dining room looked wonderful; it was just a shame that all residents couldn't share that. I thought the memory care was awful. The assisted living I thought was great but the memory care I thought was horrible.

It is very accommodating. It meets our expectations and maybe even beyond. The staff is very friendly, very responsive, very conscientious, on top of everything that needs to be done, and it makes our stay very pleasant so far. Our room is a 1-bedroom living room, with a kitchenette. There's an enormous amount of activities, in the morning, afternoon and outside the facility, and a lot of it involves the residents. They have an exercise room, a beauty salon, and an activity room. The food is fantastic. They have three meals a day, and they offer alternatives at each meal. Everything is on one level, so it's more convenient in terms of moving around and finding your location. They invite you to their activities; they don't just leave it up to you to figure out for yourself. They want their residents involved physically and mentally. I'm getting my money's worth.

My father is living here. They're very good. They don't have crystal chandeliers, but it's a clean place. I like it and I like the caregivers and people. It's a good place and I'm pretty happy with it. The rooms are about 400 square feet and I was able to bring my father's furniture. There's a walk-in closet, shower, refrigerator, and a microwave. They also have rooms that have kitchens. They take the seniors out to restaurants and different places. They play bingo every day, uno, card games, memory games, there was a Super Bowl party and Valentine's Day party. My dad loves the food.

We were impressed, and we put our name in the waiting list; it was definitely at the top of our list. It was not a new building, but I did like the location. We thought it was nice, the apartment size was satisfactory, and the décor was acceptable as well. They had a lot of great activities available every day of the week, and it had a good variety. I think it was posted on the wall.

This is the one we chose. I liked the location because we bought a house not maybe twenty minutes away, and it was nice there. We talked to Linda there, she showed us around, and it just seemed like there was a lot of things going on within the assisted living place. They’ve got stuff going all the time that would keep my dad a little busy. They have Bingo, an exercise class, and a little exercise room where there’s a bike and a treadmill. Also, they have church service, or they will take him to mass on Sunday, which is important to him. My dad is not picky on food, so we didn’t really talk about that. She just said that they have good food service, and I think it will be fine for him. They had a nice garden in the middle. I know they have a gardening place, and my dad always liked to garden. They had a place where they don’t have to get down on the ground, which was like 4 or 3 ft above the ground, and they could have their own little plants in there. The rooms are a decent size, so I think it will work out for him.

I looked and it was very nice but too far away. The facility itself, the garden, and the grounds were very nice. They had all the amenities that all of the other places had, too. Had that place been closer to where we needed my mother to be, that would probably be our first choice. I would recommend them. The rooms were a good size, and the staff was very nice. They showed us around and gave us information.

I really liked the staff. I liked the place, too. Their staff was the friendliest and the nicest. They were nice enough to give us a pie as we were leaving. Their food was delicious. We almost put my mom-in-law in that place.

My visit was outstanding. The staff was very knowledgeable, very conversational, really wanted to understand what I was looking for, and answered all of my questions. They were a pure delight and amazing. They had a family area, a nice eating area, an area for community events, a salon, and an area for exercise. I got some cookies, which were the most delicious cookies.

It was OK. It's mostly assisted living, but it had more of a skilled nursing/nursing home feel to me when I walked in. It's an older facility, and the room seemed to be a little dark. For activities, they had some game time, jigsaw puzzles, movie time, and brought in outside groups. The staff was great, very friendly, and very informative.

I was very impressed even though I came in kind of unannounced. I had a tentative appointment, so I wasn't really expecting to have a tour. They did help me out a lot and showed me around. I wasn't in a good mood because my husband was in the hospital and not doing well. So I was kind of cranky, but they did really well. They even sent me home with a pie. The rooms and apartments were fine. They had different styles for different people's needs, but they were all fine. I was really looking for respite care, but I thought they were kind of expensive because there were a lot of add-ons like medications and administration. But I thought they were fairly good, and we'll be looking into them for respite care. The dining setup was fine. We were there during a meal, but I didn't see what the people were eating. They have been keeping in touch with me to see when I'm available to come and see them again and have my husband stay sometime for respite care. They are really good about it when I tell them I'm not ready. They say they'll call in a month or call in a few months, and they stick to that. They are not bothering me or anything, so I think they are doing well. So that is probably what we are going to look into when he needs to stay there for a few weeks.

My uncle is in here. It is a smaller facility, but I think it is a fit for him for independent living. The location is satisfactory for my mother, my sister, and I, and we can be in closer contact with him. The staff there has been more than accommodating and very friendly. He's been there for about a month, and he is very well accustomed to being there. He makes friends very quickly, and he is very comfortable. It is like he has his own place with his own locked doors. He doesn't have to worry about cooking for himself and making sure he has food in the house. The staff cleans the apartment, makes the bed, and takes out the trash every day. It is extremely beneficial because he is 83. He is closer, so that we can see him more often, pick him up, and go places. The fact that they do excursions, I think also helps him. They have 3 meals a day, and he likes the food. They have bingo, and he loves bingo. They bible study on Saturdays. They have memory games and stuff. They do trips once or twice a week. They have doctors that come in twice a week. They have a foot doctor that comes in every so often. They have a beautician on staff, and they have a medical staff 24/7. He doesn't need any of those services as of yet, but it's good that we know that they are there. I will recommend it. The atmosphere is positive. It is bright -- not dark and gloomy -- and I like that. It is uplifting, and the people are friendly.

My mom is here, and it is an excellent place. We had a little problem with one of the nurses there, but she is no longer there, so it is much better now. She has a private room, and it is very spacious and very nice. Before mom got worse, she played bingo and all those available activities. I have eaten there lots of times, and the food is excellent. I would absolutely recommend this place to others.

It was a little older. But they were in the process of renovating their apartments. The bathrooms were redone nicely so you don't have to step over anything to take a shower. The staff was very knowledgeable. The food was very good and the portion was fine. They had field trips. They also had TV, movies and bingo.

It was very clean looking and neat. The rooms were a nice-size and there was no smell. Everything seemed very, very nice. The prices were very reasonable. The staff was very informative and very helpful. I just hope they'd keep the prices low so people can actually afford to go there. Other than that, just keep it clean and neat, and make it look more like somebody's home.

It was a wonderful place where my grandma lived out many of her final years. The staff was very kind and understanding. She always seemed happy and never had problems with this place. It became a second home to us when she was in there, it seemed like everybody knew each other. The staff would go out of its way not only to make sure she was good but that we were good to. She got 3 meals a day and the Activities Director was always creating fun and exciting; crafts or games to play, they even had Wii Bowling which she got really good at. I have seen a couple of the nurses and they still rant and rave at how nice my grandma was. It's funny cause when stories of my grandma come up all we can to do it rant and rave about them. They were all to wonderful and for that I am thankful.
