"Facility is kept always clean and tidy. Rooms are big with enough place to move around. My husband is taken care very well. Meals are cooked onsite and are nutritious. Caregivers are compassionate and are friendly with their residents. Health administrator is knowledgeable and is always available when required."

"I went to Hampton Manor of Clinton. It's new, and there are not a lot of people there too. The place is beautiful, and the staff from what I encountered was very nice. There are a lot of things about it I liked. That was a nice experience, they were very attentive, knowledgeable, and helpful. The facility was very nice, I liked that everything was on one floor. They even have their little patios for a lot of the rooms. And right now, they're running the specials too, it's for six months. The rooms were nice-sized, and everybody has their own individual rooms. They're very caring, and I felt that they're concerned with my needs. The staff asked me a lot of questions and gave suggestions on how they could help. I liked her a lot. They showed the cafeteria, and everything was clean. They're not near capacity, and there weren't a lot of people there."

"My mom is moving into Fox Run. It is new, clean, and very large. It has many services because of its size. She seems to be likely to be happy there mainly because she has 20 or so friends who are already living there; that was clearly the deciding factor for her. I saw a model room, which is apparently identical to her room. It is nicely equipped and has modern appliances. It is 700-square feet 1-bedroom apartment. It is very well designed. The layout is efficient in terms of its use of space. It has a mini washer and dryer, closets and walk-in showers, which my mom needs. They have everything under the sun, but I didn't actually witness any of the activities. I saw their daily calendar and the daily calendar includes about 20 things happening each day. It seems very fully equipped."

"Woodhaven Retirement Community was beautiful. It was gorgeous and the rooms were spotless. We checked out the memory care and we liked that fact that they are overstaffed (based on state minimum). On our tour, all the staff were working with residents. They weren't sitting on their cell phones and ignoring people like the other two facilities did. So, we think that my father is going to get much better care there. The staff was friendly and caring. Everything in the facility was updated and clean."

"Marycrest was very clean and smelled new. My mom liked the activities and the fact that there was a step-in shower and a washer and dryer in the unit. Also there was cupboard space in the kitchen. We were there during an open house. Marycrest has individual apartments, so you don't need to partake in the food service, and that's one of the other thing my mom is looking for. They have card playing and chair exercises. They have a shuttle, too. My mom likes the fact that they are heading to the store, to the shopping area, out to lunch, and to movies. Marycrest is my mom's favorite place. The people we talked to were all very nice."

"I liked Presbyterian Village. It is right behind my brother's house. The staff was absolutely, positively fabulous. Everything was fine. "

"The Rivers Grosse Pointe was a nice place. The lady showed me one room, and it was nice. They have swimming and other recreation. They had enough amenities."

"My mother moved into Oakmont Northville, and it was a short time where she had to go back out for her surgery. They were really helpful and went over the top. As far as getting her in and getting her one of the apartments that we wanted, they were just wonderful. The room was beautiful, like a five-star hotel there. She has a studio, and there's plenty of room. I saw the bigger rooms that have the one-bedroom; those were very nice spaces, and the bathrooms were big. The staff members were excellent. They go over the top to help you with whatever and answer your questions. All the staff that we met were just great. There was a huge calendar every day of all kinds of things, from cards to games, drumming, crafts, activities, going out of the facility, and shopping trips. There was just a lot going on every day."

"Oakwood Common is beautiful, welcoming, and it's in the right location for us. The way they handle the food and the food itself is really good. They have a bistro and a little bar."

"I moved to Victoria Square. I like that it's senior living, so you're dealing with just seniors. They have a great community where they do things in their lobby or a little get-together at certain times. I like that it's secured where you need a key or be buzzed in, and no one can walk into your building. I also like that, in senior living, they cap you at a certain amount depending on your status, as far as you can pay, so they can't increase your rent like if you were in a regular apartment. The staff is pleasant. They have bingo and programs. They keep the facility clean and have maintenance people come through. I like that they have garbage storage on each floor and make sure to clean them daily so you don't smell anything throughout the building. As for the value, it's average. It's not a bad price for what you're getting."

"Waltonwood was very nice. All of the apartments had a balcony or a terrace, and we did eat there. The food was very good; staff was very accommodating. The whole place was nice and open, and the amenities were quite nice. They seemed to have a lot of activities including some trips to parks. They had a well-stacked library; it had a theater with movie-style seating, and it showed films every night. They had a bistro which was nice for snacks, and it had regular entertainment. "
