We chose Park House Southfield for my mom because it had the amenities that I was looking for. They have a dining room where they have meals, but my mom can still cook in her own apartment. We also chose them for the size of the apartment and the transportation. The staff who toured me was very informative, and she answered all of our questions. It was a good experience with her. I have tried their food, and I also have a couple of other people that I know that live there, so we were just pleased all the way around with it. They have the transportation, they have a lot of activities for the seniors to go to, they go back and forth to the supermarket, and they go out to different types of events, like the museums and the casinos or anything that the seniors like to do.

We chose Park House Southfield because of the size and cleanliness of the community. The amenities are nice. The facility is very clean. The staff is very caring. The food was good. The staff was very knowledgeable, had a lot of patience, took her time with her tour, and was very thorough.

My aunt is a resident at Park House Southfield, and she loves it there. It has a friendly and nice atmosphere. She has an apartment, and it is big and nice. They have meal plans and activities. They also have a movie room.

I did a tour of Park House Southfield. The place was well-kept, and they had a lot of activities for seniors. I like that because I live alone. There were a lot of things to do without leaving the building, and that is very good with me. They had chair exercises and ladies' nights. Once a month, they celebrate birthdays. My sister lives there, too. The lady who assisted me was very nice and very helpful. She answered all my questions. The room they showed me was a 2-bedroom. It was nicely furnished and large. I have a lot of furniture, and it can accommodate me. There was also 2-bathrooms with a storage closet and a bedroom large enough for a queen-sized bed. I like that because that's what I have. The accommodation came with breakfast, but the other meals you had to pay for. They have housekeeping that comes once a week. They have two buildings. I requested to be in the main building where my sister is. They said they would try to accommodate me with that.

I will be moving into Park House Southfield. I have a friend who's been there for two or three years. She encouraged me by sharing her experiences there. My impression is that the people are very warm. They show you around, and there are all kinds of things to do. There are even a beautician and a barber. You can get that on right there on spot. If you need to go somewhere like ten miles or so, you can request transportation. The meals are available two or three a day. I'm excited about moving there. I was requesting a 2-bedroom apartment, and they showed me a 2-bedroom apartment that was all set up. When asked whether my bed and my couch would fit in there, they showed me a fully equipped room to get an idea. Even though I had been in my friend's 2-room apartment, they still gave me a personal tour. There is a place to wash on each floor at the end of the hall. You have the option of putting it in, which is what I am doing, or a washer and dryer that are over each other. You can install that. It's independent living, but you have the availability of things you need to independently live in the building, like the exercise. In fact, I saw the calendar of monthly activities with a plan for every day. The service of the person who took me around was excellent. They had breakfast, dinner, and a snack that was included in your fee. It's clean, and it smells good. It doesnt smell like a bunch of people. They were constantly cleaning. The building is clean, and you wouldn't be embarrassed to bring your family member to visit in the hall and whatnot. There are activities and programs. I saw the monthly agenda where you see what's going on every day and at what time. You see what's going to be served each meal. They even have spiritual activities on Sundays. There are ministers who come in. It looks like they've covered the basics of what senior citizens would need. I was shown my balcony. There was an outdoor space. It's not as big as a park, but there was an area that in summertime where you can sit outside. It is not cheap. It is expensive.

My mom will be moving to Park House Southfield. They will be offering her meals, housekeeping, and laundry. It was clean and spacious. The people were nice and helpful. She'll be surrounded by people her age, like her peers. They mentioned several activities, like arts and crafts and bingo. They have parties, and a game room where they can play games. I looked at the menu. It looked pretty tasty, but I didn't try anything. Compared to other places that we looked at, we fell in love with it. The staff was really helpful.

My friend will be moving into Park House Southfield. He's not in there yet, but so far, it's been perfect. It's been really good. He was trying to get a two-bedroom, two-bathroom, and it had that. The staff was very caring and very nice. The dining area seemed open and roomy, and the staff was friendly. In general, it's independent living with assistance if you need it. If you need help, they would have a staff person to come for any care that you needed. They clean the apartment once a week and he gets a minimum of two meals a day. We saw the menu and it looked appetizing. He's a vegan, so he's a little harder to please. He was told that all he has to do is tell the staff person not to give him any meat or anything. Once he got in there, he could talk to the chef and ask him to be more accommodating. They were playing bingo, and they seemed to be having fun. It seems good, very positive, and accommodating.

My mother will be moving to Park House Southfield Senior Living. They're pretty receptible, that's why they were picked. After the walkthrough and the process of determining from other locations, they seemed to be the best kept up facility at the time. Some of the other facilities, what they had to show to me as far as the maintenance level, was not up to par as far as fixtures. I mean the kitchen countertops look like they were from the 70s style or the 80s, so they have not been upgraded. The staff seems to be very pleasant and seems to be well connected with the residents in that area. They provide them with enough amenities to keep the individual activities. This location has the meal sort of combined as a package. The breakfast meal is complimentary and then you necessarily pay a cost for lunch and dinner, so it's your choice.

What I liked about Park House Southfield is they offer a lot of activities for them to do to keep them busy. They also have a veterans' room where my father can hang out and talk with other veterans that is in his era as well. The dining area and the apartments were nice, and the amenities that they offer. They have a choice to select if they want housekeeping, if they want their laundry done for them and they have an option to select if they want meals or if they're going to cook for themselves. It was very nice. I like the inside and the outside. I like the fact that they have security and the fact that when you go visit, you have to be buzzed into the building. No one is just walking in the building freely. The staff during the tour was very helpful. All staff that we were introduced to was so polite, pleasant, very helpful, and understanding. We enjoyed it. I wasn't disappointed and my parents were not disappointed. They liked the place. Everyone was so pleasant. We met the cook and the coordinator. Everything was very pleasant. The food had a nice taste and was well presented. They were able to try the food before they made a decision to move in. It's a nice area. I have worked in that area before, and it's a nice neighborhood. The good thing about it is there is a shopping center around the facility and then they offer to take them out if they want to do their grocery shopping or if they want to do a little shopping on their own.

We chose Park House Southfield for my aunt and uncle because of the location and the cost. It's a senior apartment, and they have a nursing staff that you can pay for services if you need it. I really can't judge it because COVID has changed so much stuff, but hopefully it will be a good fit. They cook their own lunches and dinner, but breakfast is included in the rent. They have a fitness room, a beauty salon, barber shop, and dining, but a lot of those things are cut off because of COVID. The staff is personable, they get back to you/return your calls, and they're helpful. A lot of places I visited had smaller apartments, but this place has almost 1,200 square feet. They have a two-bedroom, two-bathroom, so it's very nice. You can hook a washer and dryer on the inside, and it has a patio and a full kitchen. A lot of the places I looked at didn't have a full kitchen. They like the breakfast, but they don't particularly care for the lunch and dinner. We tried that out and it's OK. It really depends on your palate and what you're used to eating. It's a very nice facility.

I visit my elderly relative quite a lot. I dont stay long enough to get on the lease but to make she my is doing well. She does not like to complain so I check on her. The apts are nice and large and good storage space. The staff acts nice but the ones in charge don't seem to do enough . There is dancing bingo and exercise. Van for shopping and appointments. A lot of complaints about the food. There is not much choice. Weekly housekeeping but they could do better . My relative uses thrm because it's part of the rent. Carpets seem dirty.

American House Southfield was nice, and the staff was very friendly. I liked the apartments because Mom would be able to really take care of herself there. They have a lot of activities like outings to the casino and to different places. They also have Bingo, card games, and movies. I liked the place, but the building was just too large for my mom.

American House was the one my mother liked the best. They were very nice, and the people were very friendly and welcoming. All the staff that was there whether they were maintenance staff or cooking were very friendly as we were walking through. The apartments were very clean and spacious.

American House was a wonderful place that suited all of my needs, except I couldn’t afford it. The rooms are very nice and spacious. The activities weren’t as varied, but they did have movies and outside activities. The dining area was moderate and not super special, but it was adequate.

My tour at American House Southfield Senior Living was not well organized; it seemed like they pulled it off last minute. The rooms were nice but a little small.

American House Southfield was a little nicer for me than other places. The apartments were very large, nice and had a lot of nice space. It was more cheerful because there was a lot more activity; people were walking and talking, laughing and all that. Even the staff -- you can hear them chatting; it was just a happier environment. The thing that was kind of a downside for me was it was totally private pay. You have to include the continental breakfast and the lunch. You don't have to eat it, but you are paying for it, and dinner was not included; that would be an extra cost. They also allow you to get your meals and take them out. The director ended up showing me around because they were understaffed that day, and she allowed me to come the very same day that I called, so it wasn't like they were trying to cover up anything or have time to try. She was very happy and cheerful, and we hit it off. She sent me a "Thank You" card for visiting and gave me the name of the person that they work with through the Area of Aging. I really liked it there, but you have to get your own washer and dryer. This place is a little more expensive, but it is closer to transportation in case I need it.

They had washer and dryer in their units. They were a little bigger, and the rooms seemed to be a little more open than the other place we visited. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The dining area seemed to be clean and nice. One of the things that I look for in a dining area is what type of furniture they have because some places don't have chairs with arms on them. There wasn't too much going on when I visited American House Southfield. They're either in their rooms or field trips. I was there around 2:00 in the afternoon.

Mom is at American House – Southfield. We chose it because of the location, the price, and the facility itself. She has been in this facility for two years. At first we thought it was more of an independent living, but most of the folks there need assistance of some kind. So I think it would be good for them to advertise the facility as an assisted living versus independent living. They do have activities, but most of the folks that participate are not really physically able to fully participate, so that has been a disappointment. Mom plays bingo, Wii bowling, and chair exercises. Their rooms are great. She has a huge apartment that is newly painted and with new carpets. We are pleased with the facility. The food is certainly abundant, and initially she complained something, but they were able to rectify that. The staff, the housekeeping, and the aides are just fantastic. They are very personable. They allowed her to engage in assisting in some of the activities. They are very warm and very loving. They make the seniors feel very comfortable and they provide a very friendly atmosphere.

Thank you for your kind words! Our staff is definitely top notch, and I'm very proud of them. And you're right - we are an assisted and independent living community, which is why our personal care services are offered on an a la carte basis (so residents only pay for what they need). If you have any suggestions for activities, I'd love to pass them on to our Life Enrichment Director! Call me or stop by anytime.
Sincerely, Belinda Smith, Executive Director 248-353-5835

American House is nice, clean with big living rooms. It has two-bedroom apartments with two bathrooms and a built in washer and dryer and that was pretty nice. They were very helpful and they took the time and showed me around. They showed me the apartment of course then they gave me a tour of the facility and the dining area and I think it could be a little bigger.
