"The care is excellent. Staff is very personable. It is a small group setting so everyone gets individual attention. There's a lot of joy in laughter in the house. Residents are usually one or two to a bedroom. Outings are planned for residents on a regular basis and birthdays and other holidays are celebrated well. They also manage medicine and doctor visits and provide visiting nurse services. It isrun by a beautiful family. "

"The person who gave us a tour at American House Sterling Heights was nice. The place was so clean and well cared for. They had a lot of different facilities and things for the residents to partake in. They have single units and they have a model room for you to look at. It was nice. They had a common space for TV and a common space for lunch/dinner. If they didn't want to have the food there, they could be delivered to their room. It was a one-level facility. It had a porch that people sat on and took in the sun."

"Windermere was very nice, and it had a beautiful garden area. The independent living had a living room, bedroom and a nice kitchen with a washer and dryer. They also have a swimming pool, assisted living, and now they’re putting up a nursing area. The dining area is very nice. The tables did not have covers on them, but they were nice tables. The staff seemed to be very nice. The rooms in the assisted living were also very nice. It was big with a bathroom, bedroom with a double dresser, a sofa, and a recliner. They had coffee every morning, and they had a nice area for entertainment. They had someone come to either sing or play a musical instrument. "

"My mother has moved into Cranberry Park at ShorePointe. The staff is very friendly, compassionate, and professional and has been since the day we walked in the door. They checked all the boxes for us. We looked at a lot of facilities, and this is a facility that just felt like home and had a very professional yet very kind staff. They have activities, three meals, and a full medical staff because they're connected with the rehab facility and skilled nursing facility, so that's a good asset as well."

"Mom moved into American House Sterling Woods. First of all, it's pretty homey and the price is right. It's lower than the last place she was at, and the people are very nice. The staff and the residents are very nice. I have a little bit of an issue with the med team, but they're way better now. At this point, they're doing a really good job. But in the beginning, it was tough for us because the meds hadn't come in and all that. So it wasn't their fault. It was just a matter of getting the correct medications from the last home. But overall it's great. They have kitchens. The food is ok. They have all kinds of activities, and they have a salon for hair and a movie theater. They have everything."

"I toured Oaktree Place. I was going to give them a deposit check, but then they decided my friend needed too much care for 1 or 2 people who would be there full-time. It's a house. It has four bedrooms. They have two people and most of the bedrooms would have been a single bedroom. They had big sofa chairs to watch the big screen TV. If they wanted, they could sit at the dining table. She would make the food for them. The one lady who made all the food and took care of their nursing issues. With other residents they had, my friend, would have put her over the limit of care."

"His sister and I went to Park Place. The people that I've talked to over the phone were all very caring people, but because of some discrepancies going on, they were not able to accept my friend there. We saw one apartment, and it was very spacious, clean, and nice. They serve food if you want to. "

"My father and stepmother are residents at StoryPoint Clinton Township. My father is in assisted living and my stepmother is in memory care but they're across the hall from each other so he can go visit her anytime he wants and the staff has been wonderful with the whole process. The staff made the transition very smooth. My dad was already in a smaller assisted living facility, but it could not accommodate the two of them living together, so they moved into StoryPoint together. The staff was very aware and very informative on how my stepmom was doing and what her care needs should be and going through that transition because she was living at home. They're so forthcoming and so helpful and helping guide us in the best way to make sure that she's cared for. They've given my father wonderful care. The wellness director there has been fantastic. She responds, she's always there, no matter what I need, she is very quick to respond, even the biggest or smallest things, she's been so helpful and so caring. It's not what I've experienced at other places. It's phenomenal. All the med techs and the certified nurse assistants that I see because it's 24 hours have all been wonderful. I couldn't ask for a better fit for both of them. The rooms are very nice. They had been in a one-bedroom apartment and it was very spacious. It's a brand new facility, so everything was very nice, but because my dad sleeps in his lift chair, he doesn't need the bedroom. They said if she's going to move over to memory care, there's no need for him to have all this space unnecessarily because you're essentially paying more money for a room that he never goes into. He's also not mobile, so that adds another layer of extra care that he needs, so we moved him over to a smaller apartment. When it was time for my dad's wife to move over to memory care, they moved all of her furniture for us and got her moved in over there. They knew how to handle the situation in the best way. They moved beds and everything. They just have gone above and beyond. It's only been open a year. It's really nice, neat, clean, well decorated, and spacious. They have musical performers at least once a week. He doesn't really go to the other activities because of his limited mobility, but they always come down and ask him. It has been much a much better food experience than where he was before. Where he was before, he would oftentimes have digestive issues and that has not been a problem here. They have a daily menu and each day it's different. They get a lot of options and then if they don't want that, there are more options for them. There's always something going on because I'm also on their Facebook page and they invited me to some other social media pages, so I can know about the activity. If my dad maybe doesn't want to go or doesn't remember, I'm able to tell him. They're both very well cared for. It's been a good solution for all that they're going through. I think it's worth every penny."

"We went to Baldwin House Senior Living Lakeside. It was very nice. We liked it a lot. It was nothing like the other ones. It was like an apartment feeling. They had walk-in closets and a walk-in pantry. We wish my mother-in-law would have gone with us. The staff member who showed us around was really nice and very informative. Everything looked clean. The cafeteria was nice. She showed us both the one-bedroom and the two-bedroom, and they were both nice. There was a lot of space in the kitchen and living room, and a lot of cupboard space."

"We chose to move Mom to Meadows Assisted Living and Care Campus because of its proximity to my home and my father's home and the price. It just worked out. What I like the best about it is that it's smaller, so I know that mom is going to get more personal care and so far, so good. The food seems fine. I'm happy with it and she's eating well. It's a nice and clean place. Everything about it seems good. There is a courtyard that's quite nice, too."

"Sunrise of Grosse Pointe Woods is more expensive than the other place we visited. They were a smaller community and seemed to have a good staff and good amenities. It's kind of a higher-end community which makes them more expensive. The staff seemed really nice and it was a really clean place. I don't think that they're really caring for people with strokes there, so they didn't have a lot of people like my mom. I would rate them a four out of five because they're more expensive. The place seems very clean, but it's not the most handicapped for someone in a wheelchair. If someone can move independently it's fine, but for someone who is dependent upon a wheelchair, it won't be easy for them to get around the community."

"The moment I toured this group home I immediately knew this is where I wanted my mother to be cared for. I felt an instant connection and genuine warmth when I met with Christie and put a deposit down for her room that same day. Mom had a beautiful cozy room with her own tv and wardrobe for her clothes. I could tell all of the residents were being well taken care of by the staff. I saw the staff in action and thought I need to secure this room for my mom before somebody else snaps it up. They served wonderful and nutritious meals, drinks, snacks and dessert. It was a very calm and peaceful environment with two separate areas for the residents to watch TV. Super clean, tidy and organized. I would receive updates via text or phone call almost daily and felt like I could reach out anytime for an update on how she was doing along with beautiful pictures of her. The staff welcomed my husband and I when we visited and were also given delicious meals to eat with mom. We were also included to celebrate another resident’s birthday on a Sunday with appetizers, spaghetti dinner, pizza and lovely birthday cake and ice cream. Abner also sang karaoke and a nice time was had by all. He even sang “Oh Carol’ for my mom even though it wasn’t her birthday and it was very touching. I highly recommend Sterling Elder Care to anyone and I just wished I had known about them sooner! I can never thank them enough for all they did the short time mom was there under hospice care. I never once worried that she wasn’t being attended to like their own family. Our entire family will be forever grateful to Christie, Abner and the team. Thank you so much for everything you did for mom. Word cannot express our family’s gratitude for your kindness."

"We went to Rose Senior Living - Clinton Township. We knew about nursing homes, we knew about senior living, assisted living, but we didn't know anything about memory care. They were the ones who taught us about memory care. And that was one of the main reasons why most of the places that we went to after that, we were looking for memory care. It sounded like the best place for my friend. The staff was very helpful to answer any questions that we might have had that we didn't know to ask. Any questions that we had, she answered. The rooms were all nice, spacious. She lives in a two-bedroom apartment. So for her, she would have to downsize quite a bit, but it's the downside that she actually needs to do. If she went to Rose, they have more than enough room for what she actually needs. They had many dining areas, we saw all of them. The dining areas were nice as far as being able to eat in the dining area, or you can go to the dining area and order something and bring it to your room. We saw the menu. The menu looked like something that she would like to eat with the exception of green vegetables. There were a lot of other choices for her to eat. I saw a movie theater. They have a person who does hair, like a hairdresser, massages. I saw an activity chart that had something that they did every day, either in the facility or going outside of the facility if she needed to go to a doctor's appointment. One of the rooms that we saw had a washer and dryer inside the apartment, but if we wanted to we could have it where they would pick up her dirty clothes, wash, and then bring them back to put it away for her. So there were a lot of things like that that I liked."
