"Everybody seems like a family there at StoryPoint Abbot Park. The staff interacts with the residents, and they all know them by name as they're walking by. Everybody seems happy and well cared for. The place is bright, cheery, clean, has no bad odors, and spacious. I feel like they treat the residents like humans, not just old people. My friend is going to be placed on Monday. I was there yesterday, looked the place over, and was very impressed. I've gone to several other assisted livings, and this one is outstanding. They gave me a tour of both memory care and assisted living and they're both wonderful, but right now probably memory care is where he'll go. One thing that stood out is that the restaurant is open from 7:00 to 7:00, as opposed to other assisted living where they have a certain time and if the elderly slept through the time, they don't get a meal. Here, you can come in anytime and order and eat up until 7:00, which I think is fabulous. Plus, I can go for $10 and have a lunch with him. The gentleman, Patrick, was the one that did the tour with me. He was very personable, didn't rush, and answered all my questions. We had a good time together. He was on top of everything and helping to facilitate this because my friend is in the hospital. They were right on it, moving everything forward to get this to happen quickly. Even the custodian walking by had a big smile. He stopped to talk to me, shook hands, and introduced himself. Everybody was nice. All the staff that I met was very congenial and happy. They didn't look like, "This is a dredge to be here at work." They enjoyed their job and they loved the residents, you could tell."

"I am a resident in the Clusters, the independent housing located on Burcham Hills property. All residents had the opportunity to participate in the COVID-19 vaccination program. The vaccine was provided by and administered by Walgreens. The staff from Burcham Hills organized and managed this project and did an amazingly good job. We were notified well in advance of the day and each resident was scheduled for a specific time. Individual paperwork was completed prior to the day of vaccinations. We were checked in on time and had a place to wait which was a very short time. After being vaccinated we remained in the area for 15 minutes then were checked and excused. The whole process was smooth, fast, and pleasant; a credit to the staff and management personnel. "

"Bickford Senior Living was nice. The dining area was fine, and they had a nice outside garden. The staff was very pleasant, and they had a nice menu. It looked like a good place to live. "

"My Dad has been a resident of Grace Haven for almost 2 years. His first year was in Assisted Living before being moved to Memory Care. Since moving to Memory Care, he chooses to spend much less time in his room by himself. Instead He participates in group activities far more than he had before. Games, exercise, and creative projects are new favorites of his. Also, anything involving food. The dining staff does a great job. All the staff at every level in Grace Haven know my Dad and our family on sight. We interacted with every department and have been listened too and treated with courtesy when we have asked to make changes or just had questions about care. The personalized care that I see my Dad receiving from the Grace Haven staff is greatly appreciated, both by him and my family. "

"My mom is in memory care at Fairview Adult Foster Care. They have a wonderful staff. I also like that they have programs that she enjoys doing like she can go to exercise every day. And then they have live music about two or three times a week, and she loves it. There's a place where she can get her hair and all her laundry done. They have delicious meals. Those are all included in the fee, and there are no hidden surprises on anything. It's really beautiful. It was an old farmhouse. There are barns, they have a huge pond that has a fountain in it with ducks, and then they have cows and pigs and sheep. They have bingo, Uno, coloring, and all kinds of different things for them to do. I think it's excellent value for money because everything is included. "

"We really liked Royston Ridge. It's smaller and there's only about five residents. It was a ranch home converted into a foster care. They made all the doorways really wide and they installed walk-in showers. They had a big balcony where you could sit out there, and they even had a big garden. They grew a lot of their own food and they made their own food there. Meals are home cooked. It was a very homey atmosphere. My father shared a room with another gentleman. It was just a regular bedroom, they share the TV, they read the paper every day, they did puzzles. He just really enjoyed it there. My dad is incontinent and I guess he was on a diuretic pill while he was at the assisted living, so he was having accidents every night. The owner thought that my father was taking the pills so late in the evening at 8 o'clock. So she took it upon herself to call his doctor and find out what time he should be taking the diuretic pill. And all of a sudden, the bedwetting stopped. They really seem to care and understand. My father got exceptional care. "

"I was able to schedule a tour quickly to Divine Life Assisted Living Center of Lansing, instead of having them make me wait a few days. They were very efficient that way. I liked that my mom could go into their kitchen and make her own food. They are willing to cater to her particular meals. The tour was awesome. The place was very clean. It did not smell like any kind of urine. Different staff were walking by the residents and they always greeted them or said something to them. The only thing that they didn't have that we wanted was we got the private room, but it was a shared bathroom."

"I visited Country Woods Assisted Living. It's a house and not a big complex. It was really well. The staff was really nice. The rooms were nice, and this atmosphere was more like living in a house than an apartment building. They gave us the list of activities that they do. They have a sunroom porch in the back of the house. In the living room was a nice, big TV. It's a nice view when you look out the window. It's kind of out in the country a little bit."

"Delta Retirement Center was very clean. I got there at lunchtime and there was a lot of laughter and conversations coming in from the dining room. I met with Sandy and she was busy moving furniture because they were going to have a movie later that afternoon. I watched the way she rearranged the furniture in the lobby so they could get together and watch a movie where the fireplace was roaring. It was kind of a nice, homey atmosphere. I saw two one-bedroom apartments. One was more accessible for somebody with a wheelchair than the other one. One was a full kitchen while the other one was with a partial kitchen. They had been upgraded so the kitchens had more drawer space. They have a library and a book club once a month, which I think my friend would find very enjoyable. They also have bingo and card games like euchre and cribbage (she loves to play cards too). They have a little cafe that they have set up so the residents can go get coffee any time they want to during the day. There are tables in there so they can sit and chit-chat or socialize. Sandy was very, very informative and answered questions that I didn't even know I had. Since they've just remodeled and repainted, one of my concerns was that of the residents that have cognitive issues, some of them were having difficulty finding their way back to their homes because everything was the same color. They used to have different artwork on different hallways so people knew where their homes were and now everything was all the same color. They put new artwork up and people aren't used to that yet. I talked to Sandy about it and made some suggestions already."

"Eagle's Nest had the right location. That was the important part so we could just stop by anytime. The activities were more like normal day-to-day living, nothing physical. The residents walked to the bathroom and to the table to eat. They played cards sometimes and they talked at the dining table after eating. They didn't get wheeled around in a wheelchair. The rooms were very nice. We really liked it. "
