"The staff in Provision Living at East Lansing was very kind, welcoming, and accommodating. They made my mom feel very comfortable. It's a new facility. It's very open. It's smaller, so it has a cozier feel. They had a nice dining area."

"We visited The Woodlands of Dewitt and Mom said there is no way. It was $5,700 a month. She didn't like anything about it. It was a nice place. She would have had great care there, but she did not like the room set up and she did not like the price. The staff was nice. Everything was brand new and so clean. The atmosphere was quiet and the few people that we ran into seemed to be pretty happy."

"We moved my mother-in-law to Bickford of Okemos after Labor Day. We really haven't been able to step inside the community too often, but one of the reasons why we chose it was the location. Another reason was because they have memory care. The biggest reason was because they allow us to still visit outdoors even with Covid and we want to make sure that we have a place where we could still see her. The thing about it now is that they've really shut down and no one can go in and out but they haven't had any cases until recently so that was another thing. Everybody there was very good. They are clean, they are caring, and the staff tries to take care of you like we could do window visits when we didn't schedule for an outdoor visit. For outdoor visits they have two different areas with the seating and everything and we were to keep our masks on while we were there. You schedule for your outdoor visits, you get half an hour visit each time and it's 9-4 from Mondays to Fridays. On the weekends we get to do window visits which we really like being able to do. The staff were pretty accommodating. We're happy with the place. They do all kinds of activities. The one time they were doing nails. We noticed my mother-in-law needed her nails cut and when our visit was over we talked specifically to the care worker if she's going to take her and get her nails done. My mother-in-law said she's not going but they were able to get her in there and we knew this because her nails were polished and cut. So they really try to work and get the relationship with their clients and we were pretty happy that she has gotten that kind of care. They have stuff going on all the time between puzzles and kiddie parties, snacks and Halloweens. Last time they had all kinds of Halloween stuff going on all month like paint this pumpkin this day and do something else with this pumpkin the next day. My mother-in-law ended up with 3 different pumpkins from 3 different parties she went to. Also, if you wanted a snack, you can go down and get a snack. They really should post their activities, maybe they do on their Facebook. I just don't do Facebook. We don't have anything to compare it to but I know about care facilities. The OT keeps in communication with us but sometimes it's a little bit harder to get with the nurse on like a quick turnaround phone call. Otherwise, the OT keeps us up on things. We know this place is expensive and I'm sure there are other places that are not as expensive but then we can't go in and visit so for everything that they're doing for her, I guess we're pretty happy. I would say the layout for me is good because in the middle, they have a courtyard and we like knowing that she can get out into fresh air if she wants to. She also has an outside room there so we could do window visits. If she did not have that outside room we couldn't have done the window visits because we know someone who didn't have the outside room. They should improve on the food."

"I love Burcham Hills. I have been to several places, but this one stood out, and I am overall pretty pleased with them. Mom said the food is excellent. Burcham is the best of all the facilities I have visited. "

"I looked at this facility and saw what it was like. I thought it was very nice looking. I checked the room out; it was OK and I thought it was spacious. They don't have a dining room, because they had a dining area in each of the different rooms there and lounges. I saw the residents doing some crafts and painting. I thought the place was fairly safe."

"I think Timber Ridge in East Lansing, Michigan is an excellent choice for placement for someone who is looking for placement. They provide their residents with several qualities of high level care to fit each individual plans of care as needed. That is tailor fitted and assessed by their trained and skilled team of Nurses. The common areas are very homey and comfortable and they serve a varied menu for their residents to enjoy. Family and friends can also stay for lunch or dinner with their family and friends. Timber Ridge is very beautifully landscaped, well maintained and structured and very satisfying to the eye. There residents are treated with the utmost dignity and respect from their team of health care professionals. They also encourage their residents to use their maximum levels of independence to keep them physically and mentally healthy. The surrounding neighborhood is also very well maintained and structured and has a serenity setting surrounding the facility as well. While there, I noticed that the residents were very sociable with one another and the facility does not smell. The management and staff are very professional and treat the residents like family and their staff are also very team and task oriented in their job duties and their performances. They offer their residents high quality levels of care there and their residents like it there and they also enjoy one another there also. I would recommend Timber Ridge to any and everyone ages 55 and above because I know that they would like it there and I know that they would do very well there also. In general, I would have to rank this facility on a fives stars rating for their excellence in providing their residents with several high quality levels of care to fit their individual life styles as needed. "Pleasant Manor is very nice and clean, and the employees are very nice. They provide very good service and they're all very nice. The food and dining area is all good. We play games like cards, dominoes and such, and watch television. I have a very nice one-bedroom apartment with adequate closet and dresser. Everything is good here, and the layout is very nice."

"They did have a special memory care room at Maplewood and we went there for a couple of months. All the dementia patients had to stay in this little room all day and it wasn't any bigger than my living room. At meal time, they had 11 or 12 people in there feeding them and they had four reclining chairs on one side and they could either sit in the recliner or at the table. They had a TV and they had one lady in there but it just wasn't enough to keep my father happy. I don't know if his medicines weren't working but he said he was getting real aggressive and frustrated because they just made him sit all the time and he'd get angry and then he'd grab somebody's arm. If you can still walk and just need some help with food and personal hygiene, the facility is wonderful. I liked it up there a lot but my father needed more care than just the assisted living. "

"I visited Vista Grande Villa. I liked the facility setup. It seemed cozier, and the hallways were shorter. The rooms were closer to the nursing station, so if a person needed help, they wouldn't be far from the main area, and I liked that. The room was nice and furnished. It was small, but enough for one person. The staff who gave the tour was very nice and helpful. They handed out a brochure with all the services available and the different pricing plans, and they answered all my questions. When I left, they had the contact information to call back if I had any other questions."

"My mother moved into Country Woods Assisted Living. The services are good as long as they're keeping her on her anxiety medicines. The staff that I've met and talked to on the phone are very nice and pleasant. The place is beautiful with a country feel and it's very clean. She said the food is good, too. She likes to play cards, but most of these people have pure dementia, and they don't participate in a lot of activities. It's a little pricey, but she's getting 24/7 care, and we're getting along fine."

"Moore's Adult Foster Care Home was clean and well maintained. There was a small number of staff and a few residents. I talked with the owner, and she seemed to be a very caring person. Residents have an outside porch for the summertime, a room with lots of windows where they sit and watch TV, and a separate living room. The rooms were different sizes. The one I saw was small but clean."

"We really liked Royston Ridge. It's smaller and there's only about five residents. It was a ranch home converted into a foster care. They made all the doorways really wide and they installed walk-in showers. They had a big balcony where you could sit out there, and they even had a big garden. They grew a lot of their own food and they made their own food there. Meals are home cooked. It was a very homey atmosphere. My father shared a room with another gentleman. It was just a regular bedroom, they share the TV, they read the paper every day, they did puzzles. He just really enjoyed it there. My dad is incontinent and I guess he was on a diuretic pill while he was at the assisted living, so he was having accidents every night. The owner thought that my father was taking the pills so late in the evening at 8 o'clock. So she took it upon herself to call his doctor and find out what time he should be taking the diuretic pill. And all of a sudden, the bedwetting stopped. They really seem to care and understand. My father got exceptional care. "
