"We've chosen Aria Nursing & Rehab for mom. Overall, it's OK. There may be a little understaffing but that's to be expected during the pandemic. Other than that, it seems alright. She didn't have any complaints about the food. Her legs broke, so she really can't do anything, but I know they have activities because she says she can hear them playing in the activity room. She's in the rehab part. The only problem that I had was getting through to her. We had to buy her a cell phone because they don't have phones in the room and if I had to leave a message or something like that for her, it took a pretty good amount of time to get her the message and for her to get back with me."

"My mother is currently a resident on Oak Hall and I am familiar with other in-patient rehab facilities. This is the best I have ever seen! The rooms are very clean and provide ample space to move wheelchairs and walkers around. They are bright and cheerful. Staff are just absolutely incredible! They are without a doubt smiling and helpful, each and everyone, all the time. They go above and beyond to make sure my mother is well taken care of. There are many different areas in the facility which my mother can wheel to for diversion and activities. I think the negative comments I've read are from individuals who do not truly understand the definition of rehab. My mother is there to regain her strength so she can go back to her apartment. She is not there to be coddled. These people constantly encourage her and gently push her to do her very best. My sister calls them "miracle workers" and I agree. Highly recommend this place for those serious about rehabbing."

"My dad is in the dementia care of MediLodge of Capital Area. It's one of the few nursing homes that still has that. It's a really nice facility and they take very good care of him. Any little thing that happens, like if he bumped his elbow or tried to stand up out of his wheelchair by himself, anything like that, they give us a call and let us know. So, they keep a very good communication line with us. He has nurses that really seem to care about him and know him really well. He needs a special kind of mashed up food now because of his swallowing, and they make sure that he eats. If he doesn't eat well, they offer him a nutritional drink shake. So, we just feel like he gets really good care there. I like it because the hallway is very quiet. They have a TV area, but I don't believe there's televisions in the actual room so that it's much quieter than when my mom was in Kalamazoo, where everybody had their own television, and they were on very, very loud. It's a quieter area for my dad, which is great for his dementia because it just gets too distracting with all those televisions going and stuff. It's a nice, clean, and updated facility. The rooms are nice, too. Last month we went to a picnic where they loaded up all the people and their wheelchairs and took them to a park and took a grill to the park. The family came and met the residents at the park. We were under a pavilion, and it was really nice and really special. They put forth a lot of effort to do it. They seem to be happy when family visits. One time we weren't there for a little while because my mom was having problems, and we didn't see my dad. His nurses were like, "We're so glad you came. We were hoping you guys would come soon. He needs to see you." It was just really nice because they like family that come in."

"The Willows at East Lansing was very nice. The staff member who showed me around was very nice too. The place was just too big for my husband. The apartment I saw looked fine. The place is very new, nicely-decorated, and clean."

"When I toured it was very light, clean and everyone on staff that i met was very friendly. Now our son is living there and they seem to be very efficient in their care. The admitting meeting left a little to be desired. Instead of sitting in a conference room they all stood around my son's room and there were no chairs and the room mate was there so we didn't want to interfere with his space. awkward! "

"My wife was at Ingham County Medical Care Facility. She passed away. It was a very nice place, but they don't have senior living there. That is a nursing home. I like the place. If I have to go to a nursing home, I definitely go there. The staff is excellent. The food is mediocre. The building is pretty modern. They have everything there, and my wife enjoyed it there very much. They have bingo, movies, and games. It is a very well-run place, except they just don't have a very good cook. The facility is very well kept."

"My sister and I went on a tour of this facitlity and we were very inmpressed with the cleanliness and staff and wanted our mom to rest comfortably and have a more at home feel since the rooms were set up, in our eyes, like an apartment. We met with the person in charge and she informed us that there would be a $25.00 application fee. She also told us that my mom would be a good fit but the waiting period was about 6 months. After waiting our 6 months they received all of the paperwork necessary to move my mom in. Upon hearing that my mom had sores and that they could re-open they declined her. However, we had to call several times to find out that information. It is our opinion that in order to maintain a high rating with the state they couldn't have anyone there with my moms condition. We were very disappointed after we were told she was a good fit. "

"We chose Thornapple Manor for my grandfather because this is a nursing facility with memory care. They are an Eden community which means that the staff is specially trained to care for the elderly. It's like an additional certificate that they have. They include the family, they care for him in a specific memory care facility so that they have activities like bingo, games, music therapy, and art therapy. And they try to include families in those activities as well. They have an exercise facility that he can use. They also have a massaging spa tub that he can use. They've been excellent. They are expensive but my grandpa is well taken care of, so the value of that is priceless and they do a great job."

"The staff is very kind but the entire nursing home feels too much like a hospital. All the beds look like hospital beds there isn't really a lot of ways to customize the patients rooms and the recreational areas are very sterile looking. I wish they would add a homey feel to the place because most of the people there will never get to go home again. The assisted living facility that my sister works at, however, has nice apartments for each person to live in and a recreational area that doesn't look like a hospital. The place reminds me more of college dorm rooms then an assisted living space. "

"I have a good friend in this facility. The building is clean and has some very nice visiting areas. The rooms are typical 2 bed rooms with 1 by the window and 1 closer to the door. The staff is very good and friendly. She recently had a a serious surgery on her neck and the staff has been very attentive to her needs."

"When I walked in there was music over the speakers through out playing softly. The environment smelled sterile and I never have liked that hospital smell. When I have visited other nursing homes at other times I have usually heard another resident moaning in a chair, drooling or doing something else that was disturbing. For the first time ever when I walked in I didn't hear any of that and I think it could have been due to the soft music playing over the system that calms the residents. I found the nurses to be very helpful and the entire staff seemed to enjoy their job. This facility also has excursions for the higher functioning residents to leave the building and go out shopping and do other things. While my grandfather would not be able to join, I thought this was an excellent idea. I would recommend this facility to other people. "

"My mother-in-law moved here. I think they are wonderful. They are not perfect, but they're pretty good. Most of the staff members are wonderful. My mother-in-law's room is spacious. I think it's time to do another paint job, but it's very clean. I would recommend them to anyone. They offer therapy. The office staff are wonderful, helpful, and professional. Everybody is really good. They have different rooms that you can visit. There is an outside seating area. When it gets a little warmer, you can go outside and sit. They allow dogs to come in or pets, which is great for the other residents. When we brought them in, everybody wanted to see the dog, which made everybody happy."
