"We liked Bickford of Okemos, but it was very small and so we did not see the activity level necessary for my friend's need for stimulation. The gal that gave us a tour, Tyler, was very attentive and checked back with us several times. The facility was still a top-notch. The dining area was nice and clean, but then again, much smaller. The menu looked good."

"We visited The Woodlands of Dewitt and Mom said there is no way. It was $5,700 a month. She didn't like anything about it. It was a nice place. She would have had great care there, but she did not like the room set up and she did not like the price. The staff was nice. Everything was brand new and so clean. The atmosphere was quiet and the few people that we ran into seemed to be pretty happy."

"I liked Vista Springs Timber Ridge Village, but they're further away. It'd be a hundred-mile round trip from my house. The facility was very nice. The rooms were nice and it's a fairly modern building and they've upgraded a bunch of it and I liked that. It's a nice property. The reason I looked at it was to see if I could save any money and I couldn't. It didn't make any sense to change facilities if it was going to cost me the same amount of money and I had to go through the hassle of moving. If they'd been closer and less expensive, they would have been an acceptable facility. The sales guy was the only person I interacted with."

"We liked it very much and that's where we'd like our mother to go. It's clean, but compared to other places, it wasn't huge. It was homier, and we liked the dining room setup, which was just two tables of six residents each. The people were terrific. We were pleased with the food, and my mom ate the whole meal. However, the hallways seem like they would be confusing. There were lots of different hallways. If they were painted a different color, it might be easier. I wasn't sure which direction I was going myself."

"I went to the Independence Village of Grand Ledge. I like that they were very friendly and accommodating, and they answered all my questions. They were very free, she was giving me a tour, and sharing menus and activity calendars. You could tell just from walking in that it was a comfortable, happy kind of atmosphere because the residents in the lobby were all very interactive. So it just told me that they were content to be where they were. A member of my party sampled the food, and they thought it was excellent. It was an upgrade from cafeteria-style. They served you at the table. It looked like they just recently did some updates, but the rooms that we saw were all very nicely done and up to date."

"Pleasant Manor is very nice and clean, and the employees are very nice. They provide very good service and they're all very nice. The food and dining area is all good. We play games like cards, dominoes and such, and watch television. I have a very nice one-bedroom apartment with adequate closet and dresser. Everything is good here, and the layout is very nice."

"We've chosen Aria Nursing & Rehab for mom. Overall, it's OK. There may be a little understaffing but that's to be expected during the pandemic. Other than that, it seems alright. She didn't have any complaints about the food. Her legs broke, so she really can't do anything, but I know they have activities because she says she can hear them playing in the activity room. She's in the rehab part. The only problem that I had was getting through to her. We had to buy her a cell phone because they don't have phones in the room and if I had to leave a message or something like that for her, it took a pretty good amount of time to get her the message and for her to get back with me."

"Delta Retirement Center was clean and had a friendly staff. It's a little busier location traffic-wise, but it's nice. We didn't really interact with the staff other than the office people. It's got a modern design. There are a lot of shopping nearby and it's not far from a local hospital."

"Kalkidan AFC 3 is fantastic and my mother's room is wonderful. The care has been very good; she's having her needs met. I'm there on a regular basis, it's always been clean, there's no unpleasant odor, and the patients are clean. I can't say enough good things about it. Because of the efforts of the woman that owns the place, Mother has put on weight. There are only six residents, and they conscientiously take care of all aspects required by their patients."
