"McKellar Adult Foster Care is clean. They're very caring, and they have all home-cooked meals. They have rocking chairs on the covered porch, so you can sit outside and enjoy the weather. They have individual rooms with individual bathrooms. They have a room where everybody can congregate to watch TV or play games. They do games weekly. It's been so far a great experience. The staff is very caring. The room is large and holds all the stuff my mom needs, her bed, two chairs, a dresser, and her TV, and the bathroom is sufficient. The people that work there are very caring and very giving. They help her only with showers and sometimes with getting dressed. They do bingo, Euchre, and movie nights where they do movies and popcorn. It's a good value for money."

"Over all care was very good and nursing staff was very good. However, the social worker was given my new home telephone number and never passed it on to the nursing staff. Eventhough they had my work number and my cell phone number, I was the last family member to know my husband had passed away. Mistakes happen but this was very hurtful to me and his two youngest children as we were the ones who cared for him until he had to go into Schnepps for 24 hour care. "

"I have chosen Rosewood I for my parents. They accept Medicaid waivers, while the others do not. They are Johnny-on-the-spot, and they are taking good care of my parents. If they are happy, I'm happy. My mom has dementia and they took her. They also have one guy that is over 100 years old. Everybody is very nice. My parents like the food, too. It is a big white building with big pillars at the front. It looks like the White House in Washington, DC, and that's what hooked my parents on it. They love it. Regarding activities, they're not into that stuff. They just want to do their own thing. They have activities, though."

"My sister moved into Country Friends. She enjoys it, and she's happy there. There are only, I think, 20 residents, but they do have activities. And she likes her food, so that's good. We chose Country Friends because everyone who worked there seemed happy. Her room is small, but it's private."

"The facility has just gone through a beautiful renovation. It is lovely and so comfortable for the residents, The rooms are so comfortable having their own bathrooms and little kitchen areas. I did not eat there, but the food always smelled delicious and I know they gave the residents what they wanted and special treats. The staff were all so wonderful and caring to my sister-in-law while she was there. She was not always easy to care for, but they stayed on top of her needs. The had fun and creative activities for the residence, from music, doing their nails, tea parties, happy hour, and special crafts for holidays. There are outdoor places to sit and the staff often will have special activities or treats outdoors. Mt. Pleasant is a nice town with many restaurants and activities with the college right there."

"I have my brother at Applewood Assisted Living. We chose it because they had rooms available when I needed them. It's very clean. He's got a nice room. The staff is nice and friendly. The girls are patient with him. They don't have any activities other than watching TV and putting puzzles together, and he doesn't participate in that. They have a lot of cats, so if you're allergic to cats, it's not the place to go. They have a dining room and a front room with a TV and recliners. It's a nice place. They've worked with me on the money part."

"My Grandmother selected Green Acres in 2015 over several homes in the area and never regretted a day. Over the course of a year they had some administrative changes that improved her care and training of the staff. Not only was she always treated respectfully, she had privacy and help when she needed it. Our family wouldn't hesitate to recommend it over other options in the area. "

"Merrill Fields Assisted Living was more geared toward people that need a little bit more hands-on help. They help with their medications and getting them in and out of their beds, and they prepare meals for them. The rooms were nice, but not so homey. It's almost like a hospital setting. The facility was clean and well maintained. The staff was great and accommodating. The building was beautiful, very well decorated, and very inviting on the outside."

"I have been to New Hope Assisted Living LLC. You have to be ambulatory to go. It’s very nice, but people who are not ambulatory or can’t walk, or use a cane or a walker, they can’t live there because of the small staff. It’s very nice though. They only have like 12 to 18 people or something like that. It’s very nice. It is out in the country, and a lot of the people have their little birdfeeders so they can watch the birds, flowers, and trees. It’s very nice for an elderly people who like the country or has always lived in the country. I like it, but it wasn’t what I was looking for. "

"The Roosevelt House was beautiful. It's perfect. The staff was wonderful, upbeat, and very informative. We loved everything about it. It's just we're not gonna be able to afford it. They had private rooms with private baths. They had outdoor activities. I saw a beauty parlor, a chapel, a study where they could go in and do puzzles and quiet things, a TV room, and an aviary. Outside, they had a garden and animals like deer, roosters, and chickens. It's brand new, and it's impeccably clean."

"I was very impressed with the care my mother received when she was in this facility. The staff was very caring and cheerful. The manager Sue worked with me at all times to guarantee my mother the best care possible. "

"Pine Haven Assisted Living went over to the rehab place where my aunt was at and they met her the night before she moved in there. They helped us get her in and out of the car when we got there. They They were very friendly with her. They got her to do some other stuff that the rehab place was not doing with her. So we didn't think she could do it on her own and she was actually doing a lot more than what she thought she could do once with their help. It is a small home with 15 people in it. They have a couple of days where they do crafts, they have a beautician that comes in once a week, and all their meals are homemade, nothing frozen. There's two to three people on staff during the day and they check in on them every two hours. They've got monitors all through the house so they can hear what's going on at the other end. They can also come and go with their family if they want to. They have a small spot that heads out to the big porch that they can go out on. It has a dining table down there so you can just sit, or if the family comes in, they could eat down there with you. They have a big bookcase full of books, sort of like a little library area, as well as wild animals outside, such as alpacas and chickens that people can watch and see out their windows."

"Fountain of Love is only two miles from my house. They seem to be quite friendly. They have a deck and a really nice facility for showers and bathing in wheelchairs and a walk-in tub. Fountain of Love is a small place. My mother hasn’t actually moved in there yet. The staff came in and visited my mom twice and will move her Tuesday. Fountain of Love has a homey atmosphere. The residents seem pretty much at home. "

"We liked the Colonial Villa, and my sister moved there. It's bright. The staff is very warm and caring and they didn't engage in any hard sell. It was very straightforward, answered all of our questions, and just made my sister feel very welcome there. It's clean, it smells clean as well, and the room that she found was very spacious. The kitchen is very receptive to the needs and desires of the residents, the maintenance person is extremely helpful in solving problems. We did not sample a meal, but we were there at mealtime, and it sure smells good. The nursing staff has been marvelous at monitoring her medications and checking in. The staff has been attentive to her showering needs. There are always people checking in with her to make sure that everything is all set, that she has what she needs and they've been just very friendly and professional. It's been good. She has played Yahtzee and euchre and other things that she likes. They've hit her sweet spot with those two. The basic monthly rent includes meals, it includes weekly laundry, weekly housekeeping that at some other facilities are add ons. There doesn't seem to be any scrimping on the quality of care. Assisted living is not inexpensive, but I think we're getting really good value for our money based on what we have seen out there. I think it's really good so far."
