"I've just moved my mom into White Lake Assisted Living & Memory Care. The thing I like the best is the awareness of the staff. They are paying attention. They are asking questions. They are promoting changes in places for the benefit of the resident, even before the resident needs to ask for it, so the level of awareness is really good. They care. They are very accommodating and helpful. The facility itself is beautiful and clean. Last night we had four generations here and did a little pizza party. They had a separate seating area down the hall that we were able to do a separate little gathering. There was an area there that had magnetic darts to play and a tic-tac-toe board. My mother and the great grandchildren were able to play games together in an area outside of the room. The room itself is large. Everything's well maintained. Anything that did not accommodate my mother's stroke, they quickly had a maintenance person who was able to make things better for her because of her limitations. Everything's been really good. Today, they said, "I'd like to move your mom for lunch with people who will be more stimulating for her" and they did. My mom at first said no, but I said, "Go ahead, just do it." My mom came back, and she said that was so nice. They're on top of things to make the beginning easier. I feel good about it. They have a courtyard and a community activity room. My mother has not utilized that yet, but I've been in there and it's beautiful and well appointed. There are different games and puzzles and there's a library in there. When you first come in, there are two different living room seating areas that my mom could sit at. There's a very nice dining room. The area where we had that family meal also has a living room area. There's a sunroom area with a living room seating in it. There are many separate areas and my mom's in a wheelchair right now. Hopefully she'll be walking, but she's able to get herself or with help to different areas of the place. They're not stuck in their room. There's a lot of common areas, regardless if they want to be solitary in those or with other people. There are numerous places for them to be outside of their room. Everything is accommodating her disability. Anything I've asked, they're immediately on. They're engaged and they care, whether it be housekeeping, the chef, maintenance. Every person I've encountered here so far has been very friendly, very outgoing, aware and caring. I had lunch here the first day. The food was good. It's on the bland side, but I think that's planned that way. What I ate was very palatable. My mom is extremely picky and since her stroke she really has no appetite and doesn't care about food, but she said it's OK. This is the most expensive one that I toured, but I have a feeling you get what you pay for here. I have run into two girlfriends whose parents are here and they feel the same way and they've been here longer than mine and I did not know it until I was here."
