My sister is at DaySpring Assisted Living. It's got long corridors but it's decorated kind of Victorian. It's pretty old-fashioned. The staff are very kind and friendly. It is very cozy. The colors are warm and there are flowers everywhere. Older people like that kind of stuff. It's a little comfortable place. They have little nooks. There was a place where they were planting flowers. The rooms are a little smaller, but they have very good security. I don't remember seeing them doing activities, but they were available.

DaySpring Services was a nice facility. It was clean and the way that they had it set up was nice. I didn't have any issues thinking that it wouldn't be a good place for my mother. They seemed to be nice people. They tried to answer all the questions that we had. They just discussed how they have a menu. They did games and they would have little social gatherings during certain times of the month. Somebody would come in and do their hair or whatever.

The minute we walked in the door at Day Spring Services, it just felt very warm, very comfortable, and very homey. The administrator who did our tour was very thorough and very kind. We could tell that the people who lived there, the residents liked it there. The staff seemed to have a heart for them and just took very good care of them. The building was very, very nice. The person who toured me around was wonderful, she knew what she was doing. The first thing she said was, "Tell me about your uncle." We were just very impressed that she cared about him and his needs. Her name was Shelly, and she actually took us through the whole thing, we just needed assisted living. They have a big courtyard, it's all gated and it was very secure. So we would feel very comfortable with him being there.

We put our mom in DaySpring Assisted Living. She doesn't like it but I don't know if that's typical or what. She wants us to take her back home. She hates it there I guess. She is at what they call it, Assisted Living Level One. She's got dementia and stuff, so she might be in a wing with worse people in there probably. She's not that crazy, but there's other ones there that are a lot worse than her that are talking down and walking around, then come in her room and all that, and she don't like that. She has more of a memory problem but she's not crazy, like there's some people that are kinda crazy in there, that's what she's saying. All I can say is that she doesn't like it, but other than her mind she's physically doing pretty well. She doesn't even know how to use a cellphone early and stuff like that. She said the food's excellent and she gets her hair done there. That's the only two things she likes. There's one or two staff she likes, some of them aren't as nice, a couple of them are, but some aren't, I've heard that. Some have more patience. You gotta have patience with her 'cause she's hard of hearing. She wanted to be moved somewhere else, but when you move her somewhere else, it could be worse. DaySpring was always highly recommended to me. They could probably put her in a wing that's maybe with some people that she could actually talk to, but I don't know for sure. The problem is we can't go in there. We can't see it ourselves. We have to go strictly on what my mom says. The room looked nice, but when we go there we just talked to her through the window on the phone; it's all we do. I think it's expensive. She's in a private room. They're supposed to have some activities. I've heard they're not doing any activities, but they did say they had some. The food looked good. I saw they brought one meal as we talked to her through the window, and it looked pretty good for lunch.
