"My dad moved to Brookdale Ann Arbor. I like the friendliness of the staff, and their willingness to work with me and my dad's VA benefits. I also like the overall community, the cleanliness, the beautiful community spaces, and the activities. Their staff are attentive. They encourage my dad to be involved. The structure is beautiful. There are lots of community spaces and visiting areas. It's very clean. It's well-decorated. It feels warm and comfortable. They have lots of activities and they encourage my dad to participate with them. He painted for the first time. He went on a picnic and rode the bus for the first time. He's getting to know the other residents. Given the current cost of assisted living, the facility is a good value. Given what I've looked at and the searching that I've done, Brookdale Ann Arbor has the best facility for the money."

"The rooms here did have a patio that led outside to a courtyard so my parents could let the dog out and that was important to us. The facility was beautiful. The staff really seemed to know the residents well, like the person who toured us knew the people in the building and they knew her. The residents were coming up and talking to me and telling me about living there. It seemed very homey. They had a salon and a library."

"I did a tour of Lakeside Assurance Assisted Living. It was a private residence converted into a facility. It has a total of four residents; there were two that were there and there were two open rooms. It was laid out well for a conversion, and it had a common area that was set up that was very roomy. The facility was laid out nicely. There was a part of the facility that was still being developed into a guest room that was under development, but the rest of the place was set up nicely. It was very clean, and it had a cook that prepared the meals, taking into consideration dietary requirements. The administrator that we met with, Brenda, was very detailed in explaining why she started the facility. Her mother had dementia, and she was struggling with having her in a big facility. She decided to develop this, so she would know about her mother's care and everything. She had a connection with a physician and a podiatrist who would visit regularly. The meals and the laundry in the room are all included. Then it would accommodate my sister's furniture, so that was nice. I think she had to have familiar surroundings. I think they could accommodate both assisted living and memory care, but right at that time, it seemed like the residents that were there were dementia patients. We only met with Brenda, and she's seemed very compassionate, caring, and concerned about details about my sister. What kind of activity level she was? Is she verbal at all? Did she interact with people? I thought that was very positive. I think she would be engaged with my sister. It's still under construction partially, but the part that we saw, she set it up very specific to taking care of the residents."

"I really liked Linden Square, and I don’t have to travel on the express way. I liked the room that he would go into; it had a big bay window and a walk-in closet, and it just seemed nice. Everything was clean, it didn’t smell, and it felt like his room back home. They had a program that had people doing things. "

"I went to Serenity Manor. It's a home with a max of six residents. They have two owners, and one of them lives there. She lives in the upstairs apartment. There is always two to three staff, so you have a great ratio of staff to residents. Currently, none of the residents are ambulatory. Most of them are advanced dementia patients and need to be lifted with a Hoyer. Right now, it's not ideal for them, but that's what they're getting. Right now, advanced memory care is what they're getting now. I couldn't even talk to the patients because they were so demented. It's a higher level of care and a lot of one-on-one. I think one of the rooms is shared. It's extremely clean. When you walk in, you were in the kitchen common area. Off to the right are the dining room and the living room, and then behind the kitchen is an L-shaped hallway with bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, too. It's very clean and very nice. If I had somebody who needed 24-hour care like that, that'd be great. I was impressed with the staff, too. "

"Bickford of Canton was very nice, very new, quite lovely, and very quiet because they don't have that many residents there yet. The rooms were clean, modern, and nice too. It was a beautiful facility. They had a beauty salon and a nice outdoor patio area."

"We have had more than one family member living at Glen Abbey over the past few years. The staff have always been kind and caring. The facility is well maintained and the rooms provide enough space for personal items to make them feel like home. The kitchen staff go out of their way to provide a personal touch to individual meals. Activities provide great mental and physical stimulation for the residents. Housekeeping for the whole building is always well done."

"Crystal Creek is an amazing place for any elderly person to call home. They have a beautiful campus and a energetic staff. I would strongly recommend sending another family member to this facility."

"American House Westland Joy seemed to be very personable. It would accommodate what we need pretty much. I like their activities, it was clean and well kept, and the staff was friendly. We had a nice tour and we were shown what were all the options. It was a positive experience. We looked at a studio apartment and a two-bedroom apartment. They didn't have any one-bedrooms available to show. They were accommodating. It was a reasonable size and livable. It seemed like it would be a good fit for what we're looking for. They had mentioned that they have a bus that takes them to certain places and they have various types of groups. If my friend decides to go on an independent living, it seems like it would be a good option. They have three meals a day available and they have 24-hour medical assistance. There would always be somebody around. They had the pull ropes in the rooms if you need an emergency. They had an area on each floor of the facility where you could get together like a living area or a group area where you could get together and talk to other people."

"I liked The Westland House. It was clean and the staff was friendly. I showed up unannounced and the director was still there. She asked me a bunch of stuff about what we could do. Her staff came through asking her questions about different situations going on and they seemed to truly liked each other. They also offered me something to drink. When it comes to prices, they were the most economical choice."

"I visited here for my mother. It's beautiful, and I think they have a different theory on how to do things. I feel like there is going to be much more dignity and much more communication among the careworkers, so I think that's probably going to be our best choice if we decide to move mom. They have social distancing and masks at all times. We were happy with everything we saw there."

"My mother stayed in American House Westland Hunter for a year. It was very clean. People were engaging. It was a very nice apartment. The staff and services were exceptional. They were very, very helpful. They had limited activities because it was during COVID, but they took them out to the stores for shopping and out to lunch. They did bingo. They had karaoke. They had a bar night, where they served them alcohol. They had movie night. She had her own kitchen, so she really did not use the food much."

"I went to American House Westland Venoy. it's very nice and very clean. It's just everything that I think would be fine for my sister. When I went it was for memory care, and it was very nice. Everything was clean. Another thing that really got me when I walked in there, it did not smell like a hospital or anything like that. It was a very pleasant smell, and everything was so nice. The residents seemed to be happy. They were clean, and everybody was doing what they were supposed to. Some people were sitting around just enjoying the Saturday. They were getting ready for breakfast. The workers seemed really nice. The lady that gave me the tour was very nice and helpful. She showed me the room if my sister was going to move in. Everything was so nice to me. It didn't really feel like a nursing facility or anything like that. It just had a comfortable feeling. They have different activities, and they have an outdoor area where you can go like a patio area. It was really nice. I got there so early, so I didn't really see activities. Everybody was dressed and preparing for the morning. The room was a nice size where my sister could take her 70-inch TV. You have to bring your own bed, but she has a hospital bed in her house. They had a hospital bed there too, that they said they would leave it there if my sister needed it. They didn't have an air conditioner in the room, but they have it out in the common areas. They had a huge ceiling fan, and they had built-ins where you really didn't even need a dresser. They had a built-in that would have been perfect where you could hang clothes up, and it had drawers where you could put stuff. They don't provide snacks, but I saw where some residents had a mini refrigerator. It was a nice idea. The place was clean and really nice. I was very impressed."
