"My dad was at American House Carpenter for five months. He was getting assisted living, and at the very end, we switched over to hospice. I thought it was excellent. It was a very friendly community. The people who worked there, as well as the people who lived there, were very friendly and welcoming. They were wonderful and very responsive. The place was kept clean. It was very safe. I liked the fact that they only had one entrance for people to go in and out who were visiting, so people just couldn't walk in the building, which I appreciated. They had a lot of really great activities. And they communicated with me. A lot of times they would let me know when my dad was starting to have some health issues. I highly recommend them to pretty much any family. Like I had hoped that he would be able to participate more and get to know the people there better, but his health just never improved. He just kind of declined, but they were wonderful about it. They worked with me, and they called me and told me when he needed to go to the hospital and that kind of thing, so I recommend them very highly. Also, it was affordable for us. The food was good. It's what you would find in a cafeteria. My dad liked it, which was a plus. Because of COVID outbreaks that happened at the place and also because of his inability to get around very well, they delivered his food to his room. Most of the residents go downstairs and eat in the dining room, but if you need to, they will deliver, which I thought was awesome. It was three meals a day, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and then I supplied him with a couple of things for snacking. They have a nice lobby area where they have events like chair yoga and entertainment. They've got a library, which is a relatively good-sized room, and you could play cards in there, too. On the second floor, they have a theater/chapel, so you can go in there and watch TV or they have religious services on Sunday. The other thing that was kind of nice is that the building has a courtyard in the middle. We did not get a chance to enjoy that because he was there for the winter, but I could see that there is a grill and everything, so that in the summer they definitely can utilize that courtyard. You go out and there's places to sit or they grill hamburgers or whatever. I thought it was a nice facility. The other amenity to know is that every floor has two laundry rooms. You can contract to have people do your laundry or you can do your laundry yourself. It's very clean, well-kept, and nicely up-to-date. The apartments were nicely maintained and updated and everything. I also found the director and the staff there to be very caring and interested. "
