My dad moved to Brookdale Ann Arbor. I like the friendliness of the staff, and their willingness to work with me and my dad's VA benefits. I also like the overall community, the cleanliness, the beautiful community spaces, and the activities. Their staff are attentive. They encourage my dad to be involved. The structure is beautiful. There are lots of community spaces and visiting areas. It's very clean. It's well-decorated. It feels warm and comfortable. They have lots of activities and they encourage my dad to participate with them. He painted for the first time. He went on a picnic and rode the bus for the first time. He's getting to know the other residents. Given the current cost of assisted living, the facility is a good value. Given what I've looked at and the searching that I've done, Brookdale Ann Arbor has the best facility for the money.

Food is horrible. The place is depressing with hardly any residents anymore. Daily activities are not engaging, do not change. Managers do not look at transitions of residents. It's all about the breakdown of costs and money. I would, however, give the RCA's a score of 10! Brookdale is very lucky they have people who really care and are helpful. Always smiling and asking how they can help you. They should make ore than the managers and the cook put together! The problem is, you need every part to work with high quality otherwise the holes become craters and that is the current condition

The other place that I looked at that I liked was Brookdale Ann Arbor. In terms of the facility itself, it was really beautiful and well-maintained. They have very spacious community rooms. The individual apartments were not very big. It seemed like that facility was more inclined to have people leave their apartments because their apartments weren't very big. There wasn't a lot of room in there like you couldn't have people visit you comfortably or anything like that, but they had a lot of community spaces instead. I know my dad wouldn't like it for that reason. In terms of the level of nursing care, what I liked about them was that they had their own doctor who visited once a week, which I found very attractive. The cost of Brookdale was considerably higher than the other place, so that was a factor in my decision-making. There was just no good way to afford it. But it was my second choice. The people that I met when I visited were all very nice. The building itself was wonderful. Food would have been included in the rent and everything, but I did not try any of the meals. I met the activities people, but when I was touring, there were no activities underway. However, the staff were all wonderful.

I received respite care for 3 months at Brookdale Ann Arbor in the summer of 2022. Personal care staff were friendly and caring, while administrative staff were responsive to questions and concerns. Maintenance was on top of emerging issues, and activity personnel did their best to engage residents with arts and crafts, movies, exercise and outings. The salon stylist was masterful with scissors, and the front desk staff were welcoming and efficient. Best of all, they understood us residents, our unique characters, our varied needs and most of all our limitations. I made many friends while at Brookdale Ann Arbor and I would return if circumstances warranted it

I toured Brookdale Ann Arbor. They're not quite as nice as the other place I toured, but they're at a lower price and the price is comparable to the place I ended up choosing. This place would have been my second choice, the other won out on location. The person that showed me the entire facility explained everything to me. It's not as fancy as the other places, but it's very nice. I saw the outside, the dining room, and their common areas. It looks well taken care of, and the landscape looks good.

I like Brookdale Ann Arbor a lot. We have a lot of like parameters because my dad and his wife both have different needs, and Brookdale seemed to be able to meet both of their needs. It was nice in there. I met with the director and she was wonderful, and I said hi to a couple of staff members. From what we were looking at, I was impressed with their facilities. There were amenities like a salon, and it was very clean. Its location is close to the expressway; we can easily pick up my dad and take him to his appointments. It's close to Saint Joseph's hospital where all of his appointments are, but it's also close to the University of Michigan Hospital and shopping and restaurants.

I liked the tour of the rooms at Brookdale Ann Arbor. I didn't get to see the dining rooms though so I think they forgot about that. I toured their assisted living and the salesperson was very informative. The facility looked very comfortable. They had a salon and a courtyard. Mostly it's just the rooms that I looked at. The place is close to hospitals and it's right across a shopping mall so that's convenient but my mom is 92 so I don't think she's going to be doing much of that.

Brookdale Ann Arbor was fairly good. I just think the social activity level there was a little less than what we were looking for. There were very few people around doing anything during the afternoon, and we're looking for some place with a higher activity level. I think they're trying to generate a lot more activity there. I'm not sure if they're successful yet. The units were fairly small, but we needed more of an apartment style of units. The staff was actually very good. Upkeep and cleanliness was also excellent. The layout of the common spaces were great. They had social rooms, a very nice dining room, a great lobby, and a small exercise room.

Brookdale Ann Arbor was OK. The building itself has been around for a little while, and they've done what they can to update things. There's a huge staircase right when you walk in, which was a little concerning since my father-in-law has a walker. There were elevators and several small activity spaces. The dining space was also small. The size of the apartments varied quite a bit. So, while you might pay the same amount, the square footage could vary up to 50 square feet, but they had the most variety where you could have almost like an apartment if it was available. We didn't really talk too much about food and that kind of thing, as they were more focused on activities and making people feel at home. As far as I know, they allow pets, but when you walked in, it wasn't as impressive as the other ones we saw. It's an older building and the color scheme was kind of not as bright or cheery, but it was fine.

Thank you Brookdale Senior Living Solutions of AnnArbor! Our family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the way you kept all residents and caregivers safe and healthy throughout this Coronavirus pandemic. Samantha and her amazing team took great care to keep residents connected with their families during an extremely difficult time. Families received daily email updates regarding procedures for closure, information about daily intensified cleaning, ways to continue to connect with loved ones (ie. “window visits”, phone calls, Zoom calls…). Families also received emails several times each week that included photos and videos of their loved ones, as well as uplifting messages from the staff. Because of their diligence, when the entire facility was tested for COVID 19, there were 0 positive cases for both residents, as well as caregivers!!! We can not thank Brookdale enough for the phenomenal work from the administration and the caregivers!! The Jenkins Family

Mom has now been at Brookdale Ann Arbor for over a year. She loves it and the staff love her. It hasn’t been easy the past few months since family has not been able to visit because of Covid but the staff have gone above and beyond to meet moms needs. The staff have always done a great job with communication and during Covid they used creativity to share with the families through pictures and videos. I can’t thank them enough.

My dad lived at Brookdale Ann Arbor. It's a nice-looking facility and its a very pleasant place. They had extremely good staff members on the floor. The food and dining area were fine. They worked hard to make the food interesting and they changed the menu quite a bit. They had a whole lot of stuff going on, like an exercise program for the people in memory care, musicians would come in, a woman would come in every Friday morning to sing, and they had some games. For the ladies, they had nail care every week or two. Every day in the assisted living facility one of the aides conducted games for half an hour in the coffee shop and we often went to that. They frequently ran a TV program in the memory care unit with games on it.

The rooms at Brookdale Ann Arbor were very beautiful, but it's too expensive for me. They had exercise rooms. The place was big and very clean. The people were very helpful and very friendly. One person has been living there for four years, which speaks a lot to the quality. We had a fine snack.

We visited Brookdale Ann Arbor for my parents. It was OK, but it wasn’t my favorite of all of them. The staff was very nice. Everybody we dealt with was very nice. However, nothing from that place stands out. It would not be a place that I would have my parents go because of what we were looking for. Everybody was friendly. They were very nice. They called me a few times afterwards, so they keep following up. The one that we talked is very helpful because she had told me about what she had gone through with her own dad when she was putting him into an assisted living place, so that gave me ideas on what to look for. In that sense, they’re very helpful.

The staff was not so helpful at Brookdale, and I had to wait a long time. It wasn’t right, I was not comfortable, and it was unimpressive.

What I like about Brookdale Ann Arbor is they continue to keep in touch with me just to see how my parents are doing, which I think is very kind and thoughtful. It was beautiful, clean, and had activities. Everybody seemed so helpful and so eager to help in any way they could, were very knowledgeable, and seemed to know all of the residents, which I thought was pretty neat. What I really liked was that in the memory care, they had secured housing. It was all very clean and well maintained. I really liked the staff member that I talked to; she was fantastic, and I wish I could remember her name.

My mom has been living in Brookdale Ann Arbor for three weeks now. So far everything has been good, and we are pleased with the community. The rooms are fine. They have a lot of common areas. The staff has been very helpful. They constantly have a lot of activities. My mom is involved in a slight physical therapy. They also watch TV, and sometimes there are games going on during the day. We just had a Thanksgiving dinner there, and it went nicely. They invited the family of the residents, and it was a wonderful event. There were a lot of friendly people. The food was good too. I believe that Brookdale is a better fit for my mother, compared to the other community.

Brookdale Ann Arbor (formerly Brookdale Place of Ann Arbor) was very nice, but it didn't have the same kind of exercise options for someone who is physically much more mobile, which my brother is. The apartments were all fairly nice. They're clean, nicely decorated, and very pleasant. They have puzzles, movies, entertainers come in, and people come in with pets.

I toured Brookdale Place with my wife. It was OK. I don't think it's going to meet the needs of my dad, but at least we had a chance to tour it. It was clean and pretty welcoming. It's just that they weren't able to provide 24-hour care that we were looking for.

I thought Brookdale of Ann Arbor was quite nice. They tend to mix assisted living and memory care on the same site, and the first building we went into was actually the memory care unit. Then we switched over to their assisted living facility, where she toured both of them. The assisted living facility was on two levels. It seemed to be a nicer facility to me. Their staff seemed to be a little older on average and slightly more professional -- that is kind of off the cuff evaluation. I think their public places were a lot larger proportionately compared to the other place.

We visited Brookdale Place of Ann Arbor. It was a very nice place. It was a newer facility. It did have a memory care unit. The facility looked very nice. It was modern; it was well done. It felt comfortable. The rooms were very nice. They're very comfortable. The staff seemed to be very helpful. They seemed to have a lot of nice activities. Overall, I would tell people to look at this place.

My dad was at Brookdale for three months. They were very good. They had him in a room, and then he moved to an apartment. They are both nice rooms. Dad said the food was really good, and he really liked it.

I had a good tour at Brookdale -- the people were certainly very nice -- but when my girlfriend said she took her mom out there, she didn’t feel like her mom was getting good care and that concerned me.

We visited Brookdale Place when we looked for a place for my parents. It was a two or three-story building that looked like an apartment. It was new and it looked nice. It seemed like a nice place but nothing really stood out that made me excited about the facility. I did not like their fee structure at all. There was a base fee and more additional fees to additional care needed by the resident, which could change overtime.

Brookdale Place had Clare Bridge and literature programs which were helpful for dementia patients. That was the reason I chose this facility. The staff were dedicated and hardworking. The place was decent enough. Although the price is quite high.

Brookdale is kept very clean and the staff is very caring. It did not feel like an ALF, but more like a comfy home. One complaint I have is that my grandmother had to share a room with another client. This could be a good thing for her, but I feel like it was a bad thing for the other lady because my grandma constantly has family and friends visiting her while the other lady seems to be very lonely. I feel like it is a constant reminder to the other lady that she does not have anyone there to support her. On the other hand, it may be better than being solitary, I do not know. The dining area is very nice and the food appears to be very tasty. The grounds are very pretty and nice and there is plenty of room for clients to go outside and relax. They also have a special pantry where clients can purchase foods and drinks. Everyone there seems to be there for the right reasons and really cares for the staff. A third I had visited over 10 years ago for my other grandma was a nightmare and they were very rough with her, so it was refreshing to see a nice ALF where people actually care.

When I was a teenager, I volunteered with my Cub Scout troop a few times at this home. I needed to accrue enough hours to get a patch that gave me credit for helping others. Most of the people here needed a lot of assistance. I didn't realize that at my young age, but now, having been in and around assisted living facilities quite often, this was a very involved home. Residents often needed full care, showers, baths, clothes changing etc. Of course, as a teen we didn't do any of that; we simply helped prepare meals and serve them as well as mingle with the residents. Overall, the place was nice. The location in Ann Arbor, Michigan is very beautiful. The home is clean and the staff was friendly, but it was quite sad seeing how impaired some of the residents were. The home is pretty stately overall. It was comfy and from what I could tell, the residents and the families who visited were satisfied. I didn't witness any discontent.

While driving through the Michigan region, we decided to stop in and visit Brookdale of Ann Arbor, since we were looking for an assisted living facility where my friend's mother could live. We were impressed that they could accommodate our last-minute visit. The grounds were very well maintained and beautifully landscaped. The outside offered easy access for residents, where they can enjoy walking around freely safely each day. We could see that there was also plenty of space to have cookouts, parties and picnics. We thought my friend's mother would like the little park area outside. We also thought it looked as though the staff could easily manage all of the residents, which is important to us. The interior foyer was like something out of a large country mansion - very inviting, but lots of space. The rest of the main communal areas were all clean and well tended. There was plenty of space for seniors to engage in a variety of activities, from socializing to games and other stimulating events. The food looked well-prepared and appetizing. The dining rooms included both casual and formal options. Their menus offered a nice variety of healthy food options. The snacks also looked interesting and healthy with a nice mix of nutritious options. We also liked that they encourage drinking plenty of fluids for healthy hydration each day. The activities they plan regularly include everything from visiting local restaurant favorites, the public library and movies - to day trips to nearby events. The private areas were nicely decorated and personalized for the residents and it was clear that they enjoyed their surroundings very much. They have planned exercise classes - but also offer residents to work out with equipment. We liked that they encouraged exercise. They seem to be able to accommodate most senior circumstances with a variety of living options available. Overall, the facility looked like a nice place to live where any senior could be very happy. We could really see that the residents are treated with care, kindness and respect so that they were very well cared for.
