Provision Living at Canton is a pet-friendly community, and we understand that our residents’ pets are family. Dogs and cats are welcome; however, they must remain inside the resident’s personal apartment. Unfortunately, not everyone enjoys having pets in their lives and we must respect their rights as well as those of our pet owners. All pets must be leashed when outside the resident’s apartment. We request that each resident and/or a family member ensure the care of the pet. Pets are not allowed in the dining rooms at any time.

StoryPoint Canton provides complimentary transportation via our wheelchair lift van to and from medical appointments. We also use our van to take our residents on outings to local attractions, shopping, restaurants, and entertainment venues.

At StoryPoint of Canton, we prioritize choice and variety in meals for each Memory Care resident. Collaborating with families, we identify individual food preferences to ensure residents enjoy nutritious, well-balanced meals that suit their tastes. Caregivers take meal orders, and residents gather in a family-style dining area to share their meals They may also join residents during meals, providing a modeling opportunity that encourages eating. As residents progress through different stages of dementia, caregivers may suggest specific food types, such as finger foods or appealing sweet items. Additionally, our neighborhood Bistro offers drinks and snacks throughout the day to encourage residents to eat.

We start fostering strong communication and information exchange with residents and their families from pre-admission. Our team takes the time to understand each resident’s unique needs and preferences, ensuring a person-centered, individualized care plan incorporating input from residents and their families. This plan is regularly reviewed and updated as residents’ needs or preferences change. We encourage families to ask questions and engage with our leadership team caregivers whenever possible to promote effective information sharing. Family members are also invited to our Family Council meetings, where they can connect with community leaders and share experiences with one another. Our full-time activities director also shares photos with families, showcasing residents participating in our social and recreational programs.

StoryPoint of Canton is committed to ensuring that our caregivers are provided with ongoing education and training. Upon becoming a member of our team, each staff member is provided with an extensive orientation process that includes both state required training and additional training required by our community. Both new hire training and our ongoing continuing education programs include topics related to Dementia, Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Resident Safety, Confidentiality and Safeguarding of resident information, Safe Medication Administration Techniques, and Customer Service. Training is provided for staff through in-person in-services and online continuing education
