"Tranquility Senior Living was more expensive and a little higher in my price range, but it was a nice and clean facility. The staff was also nice, informative, and helpful. They were really good. They told me about some other facilities that would probably be more in my price range. The facility didn't smell bad. The outside was nice. There was a garden in the front and I remember seeing flowers and a patio. The dining room was nice. Some of the residents were sitting in there with the staff."

"We toured Sunrise of Northville. What we liked about it was the amount of medical care they have on staff 24 hours a day, and they would accept our little dog. The floor plans are small. You've got to be able to imagine yourself in a smaller place. It's a bedroom, and it's a front room. It's the combination of a small kitchen and dining room. The upkeep was quite good."

"I live in StoryPoint Northville. I have an excellent apartment. They clean my apartment. They have complete food services. They have a nurse on duty eight hours a day, on call 24 hours day. They have one medical pill giver and they have two caregivers on duty per floor. There are approximately five resident apartments per floor. All the services are excellent. The staff is very friendly. We have a dining room. I have better meals here than what I can get outside or I can cook myself. We have a chef who knows what he's doing, and he takes suggestions that make the meals better for people. If you're on a special diet, they take care of it for you. When you come and visit a place, you really can't tell, because all you get is words. You don't get pictures of the meals or anything like that, but once a person visits this place, I can't see how they wouldn't want to stay here. You can have a suite, which is the bedroom in the living room with your kitchen. You can have a one-bedroom apartment or you can have a two-bedroom apartment. That's all the floor plans they have. I live in a one-bedroom apartment, and it is adequate for one individual. It could be adequate for two individuals. All the services that you want are available above the basics. In other words, you can have a person on duty here 24 hours a day sitting in your room with you, if you want. You can have a person who comes all day long and takes care of you. They have wheelchair people and get caregivers on the basic cost to wheel them down to the dining room. The dining is open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. The specials are not that long, but you can go in there any time of the day, have a cup of coffee, a hamburger, a hotdog, a cheese sandwich, a salad, or something like that, and then you can get special meals every day. Every meal is different. You have a courtyard out in the middle. The building is basically U-shaped. The one arm of the U is the memory care. Then the center of the U is your dining room and kitchen. The front space is for the non-memory care residents. We do not see the memory care units. They are in a different area altogether. The door is locked so we can't go in, which I'm thankful for because some people have a little dementia here that forgets things. It's nice that they can't go and disturb the people. We have a card room and an activities room. We have a 35 lounge chair seat theater. We have a library. We have activities every day of the week. They're situated for everybody, whatever level you want to be at. We have a Resident Council meeting where all the directors come in and tell us what's going on in the community, what employees have left, what new employees have come on, the problems that they have and how they're correcting them. It's an open forum that we're allowed to talk to the directors and tell them our concerns. You get to know all the directors and their nursing service here is topnotch. I have two problems, one mainly is I fall down. I press my button and they come and see me. They examine my head to make sure I didn't hit my head. At that time, they call the nurse and the nurse either comes in if she's on duty, or she's at home and she's out on the phone talking to us. If I hit my head, it's automatic trip to the hospital. They're here to help you, serve you, and they have the expertise to do it. They have doctor services that come in to this building and you don't have to go out to a doctor. They come in and they will service you here. You have your medication service here that once you get the proper medications they have a pharmacist that will bring your medications right to your door. All the doors are locked at night. To get in, you have to have the passkey on the pad to get in. In the daytime, one door is not locked. That's the front door but the concierge is sitting 10 feet inside that door, and she's sitting at the desk waiting for you to come in. Everybody who comes in this place must sign in. If I leave, I have to sign out. There's nothing to worry about here. If they don't see me, they come into my apartment and say hello. The person who makes an appointment is excellent. She knows what's going on here and she'll take good care of you. The bad point is 90% of the time this place is under full occupancy. There are 60 residents and there are 22 memory residents. The whole building has 82, so we have a nice small group, and it's well staffed and friendly. It is not the cheapest place around, but their services pay the extra price for you. Their activities are good. They have happy hour on Friday and movies, some of them I like, some I don't like."

"I toured this facility. I think it was impressive. It was a newer building. It had an excellent floor plan as far as apartments, and the courtyard in the middle, which we liked a lot. Also, what stood them apart from all the others is that they had this special monitor that could detect a resident's movements and help if the person might fall or if there was maybe a heart problem while they're in bed that would record their heart rate. I thought that was a benefit that no one else provided. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Everything was modern and clean. I liked the system that they had that nobody else had. It seemed like they had at least the activities, and I thought that was nice as well."

"My grandparents live in StoryPoint Novi. They are very accommodating. I always am able to go and talk to somebody if I'm having a problem with any service or anything like that. The people here are very nice, from the residents to the employees. I really don't have any bad thing to say about it. It's a nice place. They have daily activities and different programs. They have a two-bedroom, two bath, and it's really spacious. It overlooks the Jewish cemetery and it's really a nice view. The apartment is laid out really nicely to where they can move around. It's nice that they have two bathrooms, because if one is occupied, there's another. They have a pub, so there's like cocktail once a week. They have bingo. There's celebration of monthly parties. They do outings, they go to Walmart, they go to Kroger's, they go to restaurants, you sign up for that and it's just a lot going on so you can always find something to do. There's Wii bowling. They have ice cream social on Sunday. They have church programs for people who want to go. They do projects where they make jewelry and door hangers. They celebrate the holidays, like, for Memorial Day, they had a barbecue for the residents. They have the residents decorate the Christmas tree. For the veterans, they have a wall of honor. There are pictures of the veterans in the building and they have their pictures from when they were in the military and backstory on how they served or how long they served. It's just a beautiful place. They are independent, but they have 24-hour care right now and it's just working out. Everybody is always willing to pitch in, even when it's not even their area. You don't have to worry about your loved one because if they're out in the community socializing, if something happens, somebody's always willing to pitch in and help out. I haven't had anything bad to say about any of them because they're always there. They're approachable and always willing to help. They can have more food variety kind of thing. I'm not saying they eat the same thing every day. It's like a rotation of the same things. There's always a meeting where they say, like, what would you guys want? Or what would do you guys like to see? They're always looking for their input for new activities or things that they might like. My grandma can afford it and she likes it here, but it's too expensive for me. People stay because they're comfortable here. They like it here. They like the staff, and they like the residents."

"My sister moved into Rose Senior Living at Providence Park. It's working out very well for both of us. And, I couldn't ask for a better staff there. They are good both to her and for helping me through everything. She has a one-bedroom apartment, the smallest one-bedroom apartment, and has very adequate space. She's busy with chair yoga and balance exercises, bingo, Rummikub, and lots of other activities all day long. She's out of her room close to 8:00 to 8:00. They have a lending library, a garden arbor, several courtyards, an excellent fitness room, and a separate physical therapy room. She's taking physical therapy for balance also. And they have a hair salon, chair massages, nannies and patties, and many movies a week."

"My mom has been here since April and for several months I was extremely happy with the facility, the staff was great when it came to the care of the residents. The only problem I had in the beginning was missing clothes and shoes. Recently the staff and administrators have changed and not for the better, I don’t understand why the change because the old staff was the best, no one is hardly available to address my concerns and the nursing staff is not as professional like the old staff which I wish could come back. At this point I’m looking for a new facility especially since they have increased their fees $200.00 and their services are no longer worth it. The only thing that is consistent from the time my mom moved in would be the activity director Bridgit, she is amazing and has my mother very active. It saddens me to see this beautiful place and staff in the beginning to change so drastically to the point I’m removing my mother from her comfort zone but I can’t keep her there. We had a life scare and Jatonya noticed she wasn’t breathing right called ems which I was told had it been any later she wouldn’t be here today. She is no longer there and that’s sad she was excellent at her job and I don’t feel this new staff are as attentive as the old staff, while I visit no one comes and check on her which they never know when we visit for this unhappiness I feel now she’s going to leave as soon as I find another happy place. I’m so sad to do this to my mom but the only thing to keep her there would be to return the old staff completely"

"The staff at Brookdale Farmington Hills North (Formerly Clare Bridge of Farmington Hills I and II) seems very caring, nice, and very accommodating. The facility is kept up well. They have more activities than any of the other places that I looked at. It's a very nice place. I tried the food and it seems good. I haven't heard any complaints from my parents. In the dining room, they seat people who have similar memory issues, and they seem to mesh people up pretty well. There are two buildings. There's one at 27950 and one at 27900, which are identical buildings. They just have slightly different staff and residents. "

"I went to Serenity Manor. It's a home with a max of six residents. They have two owners, and one of them lives there. She lives in the upstairs apartment. There is always two to three staff, so you have a great ratio of staff to residents. Currently, none of the residents are ambulatory. Most of them are advanced dementia patients and need to be lifted with a Hoyer. Right now, it's not ideal for them, but that's what they're getting. Right now, advanced memory care is what they're getting now. I couldn't even talk to the patients because they were so demented. It's a higher level of care and a lot of one-on-one. I think one of the rooms is shared. It's extremely clean. When you walk in, you were in the kitchen common area. Off to the right are the dining room and the living room, and then behind the kitchen is an L-shaped hallway with bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, too. It's very clean and very nice. If I had somebody who needed 24-hour care like that, that'd be great. I was impressed with the staff, too. "

"Farmington Hills Inn was very clean and well maintained. The atmosphere was very pleasant and the representative when you first walked in acknowledged you. They're a very attentive staff. They showed me all the facilities, what they offer, and their grounds. They're genuinely friendly and very informative. The dining area was well organized. I observed they had a board at the front door with a calendar of different events that they were doing daily."

"We're quite satisfied with Pleasant Valley Family Care. It's like a nursing home, only it's a private home and they're licensed by the State. They give my husband everything that a nursing home would. It's pretty good right there. I have high respect for all of them. His room is not huge, but it's plenty big. He has a La-Z-Boy chair, a chest of drawers, a table, a bed, and his own bathroom. It's the cleanest place I've ever been. When you enter, you have to either take your shoes off or put on those plastic booties. There is a little porch in the front where you could go out and sit if you want. They have a chair out there, and those in wheelchairs can bring their wheelchairs out to the front of the house and look at the outside for a while. The staff is the best. They have a piano player that comes in, they have a guitar player that comes in, and they have somebody that comes in and does stuff with the patients. It's every week that someone is there."

"The rooms here did have a patio that led outside to a courtyard so my parents could let the dog out and that was important to us. The facility was beautiful. The staff really seemed to know the residents well, like the person who toured us knew the people in the building and they knew her. The residents were coming up and talking to me and telling me about living there. It seemed very homey. They had a salon and a library."

"My husband has been at Fairmont of Farmington Hills. The staff is very attentive and responsive. They're very good here. I don't really have any negatives. My husband likes it here. It's not home, but it's pretty good. His living space is fine. I had to supply some of the stuff to go there, like hangers, toiletries, and a lot of things from home, but I think that's the way it is in most assisted living places. The food is pretty good. My husband is a picky eater, but he likes most of the food here. The facility is very clean. They're very conscientious. The residents here are always doing something. They have chair Tai Chi, trivia Tuesday, and bingo. They have a lot going on. People seem to be enjoying themselves. This is our first experience in assisted living, and it all seems like a lot of money, but he seems happy, and he is safe."
