"Chateau of Novi sounds like a lavish castle, but it is actually a pretty modest place. It's located in a very nice area of Novi and the facilities are well kept. I had a family friend who moved here and stayed for an extended period of time. He liked the staff and the amenities long enough to stay longer than anyone in my family thought he would. I will say that the place, although not quite as awe inspiring as its name, was always very clean and it smelled nice. The minimal staff that I interacted with always seemed to be pretty amiable and I couldn't find any major issues with the establishment. This was all within the last year, so I doubt there has been much change. Its location is probably the greatest asset it has going. Novi is a spectacular area and it is very safe. I didn't loathe my visits to the Chateau of Novi because it was clean and there was the noticeable absence of odor that is prevalent in these types of homes. "

"Rose Senior Living would rank the highest. I toured everything but memory care. Mainly, I looked at the assisted there. It was very nice, and it was a newer facility. I thought the layout of the rooms was really nice. They had a library, and they had a lounge with music and stuff. The cafeteria was really nice. It was more laid out like a dining room not cafeteria-ish. The staff was wonderful. The menu looked really good."

"Words to not even begin to describe what a loving home my grandmother lives in. I was extremely sadden when we needed to separate my grandparents after 65 years of marriage, but when I visited Daniella’s all of my worries disappeared. This home is the most loving, nurturing, beautiful place ran by a pure angel. Daniella and all of her staff not only care of my grandmother but they truly love her. The home is extremely warm and inviting. All of the care givers take care of each resident with the utmost respect and love I truly believe that because of Daniella we have been given 2 more years with my grandmother which we probably wouldn’t have if she were anywhere else. I could not have asked for a better place for my grandmother to have spent the rest of her days at. We are truly blessed to have found Daniella and are forever grateful for the love she has bestowed upon my grandmother. Thank you for all that you do!"

"I would not recommend Cranberry Park West Bloomfield for memory care. I took a picture of the food they served my husband for dinner one night, and it was a cup-sized chili, a small croissant with such a thin layer of either chicken salad or tuna salad on it that you couldn't even see it without lifting the bread, and a juice. The facility was clean. The first thing they tell you is they will keep your loved ones safe, but they did not do that. I was just so upset that my husband spent six days in the hospital until I could find another place to put him, and when we got that done, he only lived about nine days and died, and I blame it all on the fall. Another resident shoved him, went into the wall, hit his head, and then fell to the floor on his hands and knees. I had seen him that day, and he was functioning as good as he always has. He walked, he talked, he ate, and he could express his opinions. After that fall, I went to the hospital and saw him in an emergency room. I could not understand him because all he was talking about was gibberish. There was no program in trying to help his memory. I went in one day, and he was sitting all by himself in the dining room. On another day, he was in the dining room looking out the window. Nobody else was with him. If I had to do it over again, he would never have been placed there. The staff was OK. They were friendly, but they didn't give him much help. All they did was babysit. They didn't keep him safe. He was a big eater, and he would eat anything, but when I saw what they were giving him for dinner, that's all he had. As far as personalities go, the staff was very friendly, but they certainly did not do a good job with memory care. They were not trained for it. The only thing I ever saw them do was play balloon volleyball. They had puzzles set up and Legos and stuff like that, but nobody was ever there to help them. I saw one lady who was working on a jigsaw puzzle by herself. I think with the balloon volleyball, it was just my husband, and when I came in, I joined in, but the rest was all staff."

"It is the first place we've looked. It was a small facility. It only held 50 people. The rooms weren't all that big, but I guess they're not going to be that big anywhere. It was pretty clean, and they seemed to have a lot of activities. We didn't see very many staff. They only had a small number of staff. The only one we talked to was the coordinator, and she was very informative. They had a salon. The gym was very limited, but they do exercises or something, they said, in the morning. The dining areas were all over the place. You could sit where you want, and it wasn't like a dining room. They had an outdoor patio."

"It was quiet, small, very serene, and very inviting. It's by far my favorite. The rooms were clean and comfy. The staff was exceptionally helpful, clear, and concise. I never felt like she was trying to sell me on the place. She even told me about other options. She's very welcoming and friendly. They had activities planned, but I got the feeling that it was a quieter place. Probably the biggest amenity they have was a fall detection system."

"My aunt is at Farmington Hills Inn. It's hard to say how the place is so far, because we can't really go in because of COVID. It seems like a nice place to me. She's in memory care, so sometimes she doesn't really have a good feel for what's going on, but it seems good. The communication is not as good, though. I'm having a hard time getting information from them. The move-in process went very smoothly. We didn't have any trouble at all. Once in a while we get her on the phone, but it's also hard to get her on the phone because she goes to the dining room for her meals and things like that. She says the food is good; I can only go by what she tells me. She seems comfortable and happy there."

"I visited here for my mother. It's beautiful, and I think they have a different theory on how to do things. I feel like there is going to be much more dignity and much more communication among the careworkers, so I think that's probably going to be our best choice if we decide to move mom. They have social distancing and masks at all times. We were happy with everything we saw there."

"It was a much happier place. It's very colorful and very cheerful looking. There are a lot of things to do there. They have a movie theater, a bar where they do Margarita Mondays or Wine Wednesdays, a library, a crafts room, and lectures. They also have a nurses' station on each floor. The one-bedroom apartment was very spacious and decorated beautifully. It's done nicely in grays and whites. They have a full-size refrigerator and a washer and dryer. You can rent the furniture, to begin with, but you need to bring your own. The aides will do the laundry and it doesn't go out of the room. The dining room was also very happy looking with bright oranges and yellows. I met a couple of people and they were lovely and very nice, too."

"It was very lovely. However, with my mother-in-law's Parkinson's, we needed a place that would cater a little more to some of the lifestyle changes we are expecting in the future. The apartments were very nice. Everyone was very understanding. They answered all our questions, and they seemed to be very concerned with the residents and their comfort. "

"We're quite satisfied with Pleasant Valley Family Care. It's like a nursing home, only it's a private home and they're licensed by the State. They give my husband everything that a nursing home would. It's pretty good right there. I have high respect for all of them. His room is not huge, but it's plenty big. He has a La-Z-Boy chair, a chest of drawers, a table, a bed, and his own bathroom. It's the cleanest place I've ever been. When you enter, you have to either take your shoes off or put on those plastic booties. There is a little porch in the front where you could go out and sit if you want. They have a chair out there, and those in wheelchairs can bring their wheelchairs out to the front of the house and look at the outside for a while. The staff is the best. They have a piano player that comes in, they have a guitar player that comes in, and they have somebody that comes in and does stuff with the patients. It's every week that someone is there."

"My elderly father-in-law has been living comfortably at Provision Living at West Bloomfield for over one year. He has been enjoying the community setting including the variety of daily activities and the monthly field trips. The staff has been very supportive as he progresses through the aging process. Especially wonderful is the attention to all of the resident’s health and wellbeing. The PVL-West Bloomfield site has recently become part of the Story Point Group and all of his support team have been even more helpful during the transition. One of the most satisfying improvements has been the new menu of food that the in-house chef prepares daily. They also are so attentive that if a resident has a special request, the team does everything they can to help out each resident. Our family has been so impressed with the kind care that my father-in-law receives… it is very reassuring to know that this phase of life can be made less stressful for everyone involved. Thanks again to David and his entire team!"

There was no smell. Everything was clean and dusted. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. It's not a large facility, but for a group home, it's laid our very well."

"The owners and employees treat the residents as if they are family. It is very clean and has no medicinal smell. The food is made mostly from scratch and they adjust for each resident's dietary needs. Each person's clothing from the day is cleaned at night and their night clothes are cleaned during the morning. Each resident has their own furnished room with a large flat screen TV and cable. Residents each have a sit to stand recliner to relax in during the day. Ahava brings in a recreational therapist twice a week plus bingo twice a week, and an art instructor once a week. In addition, a nurse visits regularly and they arrange for residents to have PT and/or OT as needed. The doctor comes regularly as well."
