"I did a tour of Lakeside Assurance Assisted Living. It was a private residence converted into a facility. It has a total of four residents; there were two that were there and there were two open rooms. It was laid out well for a conversion, and it had a common area that was set up that was very roomy. The facility was laid out nicely. There was a part of the facility that was still being developed into a guest room that was under development, but the rest of the place was set up nicely. It was very clean, and it had a cook that prepared the meals, taking into consideration dietary requirements. The administrator that we met with, Brenda, was very detailed in explaining why she started the facility. Her mother had dementia, and she was struggling with having her in a big facility. She decided to develop this, so she would know about her mother's care and everything. She had a connection with a physician and a podiatrist who would visit regularly. The meals and the laundry in the room are all included. Then it would accommodate my sister's furniture, so that was nice. I think she had to have familiar surroundings. I think they could accommodate both assisted living and memory care, but right at that time, it seemed like the residents that were there were dementia patients. We only met with Brenda, and she's seemed very compassionate, caring, and concerned about details about my sister. What kind of activity level she was? Is she verbal at all? Did she interact with people? I thought that was very positive. I think she would be engaged with my sister. It's still under construction partially, but the part that we saw, she set it up very specific to taking care of the residents."

"My mother is at American House, and she loves it. We found that to be the perfect place for her. Her apartment is beautiful. She moved from her own personal apartment, and it's a shrunken version of her apartment, but not that much smaller. She loves the food. She is a little concerned about the staff in the dining room. They're not handy to pull out chairs or if she's trying to get attention for coffee or silverware. She's happy with the people who dump the trash everyday and the people who do her bed sheets. They have exercise, bible study, and fingernail painting, but she doesn't go down to a lot. "

"My Dad’s room has a beautiful view of Hines Park and with a living/dining are there is plenty of room For visitors. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need in terms of space and appliances. The staff is super friendly and they offer a wide variety of activities every day"

"My mother was looking at a place close to the area, and we found American House. I saw there were interactions with some of the staff, like they were listening music and stuff. I noticed there were residents working on crossword puzzles, and some were playing cards in the lobby. "

"Our experience with Lockwood of Lyon has been very positive, with all of the staff being proactive in dealing with any needs we have had. The facility is kept very clean and is in excellent condition. The chef at their kitchen supplies high quality meals which we have enjoyed many times. We highly recommend this facility, our 90 year old mother lives on-site and has made good friends with other residents and is involved in extra activities and shared transportation trips."

"The people at Westhaven Manor were nice. The lady I spoke to gave me extra time to do other things to help explain to me how this works. She was very respectful and she helped me out a lot and then they helped me where they would accept my dog. The apartments are nice and spacious. I can have your own furniture and they might be able to help me with some furniture if I need it, because people leave things there. They have a lot of activities. They even pick them up on trips. They go to baseball and football games, and they have activities during the month. They have a card game room, a puzzle room, and crafts. They have a lot of activities for seniors to do, so they shouldn't be bored when they move in there. The people are respectful and they helped me a lot."

"My husband is at American House Westland Venoy, and I can't really complain. I don't have no negativity as far as him being there. The physical appearance of the place is good. I'm not gonna say it's modern, but it's well-kept. The staff is courteous and very informative. He gets breakfast there, but sometimes he doesn't want to eat it. There are days when it's good, and there are days when he doesn't eat his meals. They have a calendar of activities. They do coloring, toss basketball, exercise video, and puzzles; he doesn't really participate. I wish it could be cheaper. They have amenities like a salon. I think maybe he could use another light, but he's got a little lamp. They also have a garden patio. Right now, they got it decorated for Halloween."

"My mom has been here since April and for several months I was extremely happy with the facility, the staff was great when it came to the care of the residents. The only problem I had in the beginning was missing clothes and shoes. Recently the staff and administrators have changed and not for the better, I don’t understand why the change because the old staff was the best, no one is hardly available to address my concerns and the nursing staff is not as professional like the old staff which I wish could come back. At this point I’m looking for a new facility especially since they have increased their fees $200.00 and their services are no longer worth it. The only thing that is consistent from the time my mom moved in would be the activity director Bridgit, she is amazing and has my mother very active. It saddens me to see this beautiful place and staff in the beginning to change so drastically to the point I’m removing my mother from her comfort zone but I can’t keep her there. We had a life scare and Jatonya noticed she wasn’t breathing right called ems which I was told had it been any later she wouldn’t be here today. She is no longer there and that’s sad she was excellent at her job and I don’t feel this new staff are as attentive as the old staff, while I visit no one comes and check on her which they never know when we visit for this unhappiness I feel now she’s going to leave as soon as I find another happy place. I’m so sad to do this to my mom but the only thing to keep her there would be to return the old staff completely"

"American House Livonia was very clean and very nice. The people were very helpful and gave us all the information that we asked for. They were very knowledgeable and they helped us out a lot. They took us around on a tour to see a few apartments that were set up, so we could see the setup of them. Everybody there was very nice and very polite. They also offer a lot of amenities. They have studios and one and two-bedroom apartments. They have a full meal service (three meals a day) and all kinds of activities. They have bingo, movie nights, and buses that will take people if they want to go out for the day."

"It was immaculate. I loved their Villas. I loved the facilities and the apartments that they had to offer. I liked their locations and the feel of the place. Their staff was truly excellent. I really adored them. They were really warm and very receptive. I would recommend them to others. "
