"I did a tour of Lakeside Assurance Assisted Living. It was a private residence converted into a facility. It has a total of four residents; there were two that were there and there were two open rooms. It was laid out well for a conversion, and it had a common area that was set up that was very roomy. The facility was laid out nicely. There was a part of the facility that was still being developed into a guest room that was under development, but the rest of the place was set up nicely. It was very clean, and it had a cook that prepared the meals, taking into consideration dietary requirements. The administrator that we met with, Brenda, was very detailed in explaining why she started the facility. Her mother had dementia, and she was struggling with having her in a big facility. She decided to develop this, so she would know about her mother's care and everything. She had a connection with a physician and a podiatrist who would visit regularly. The meals and the laundry in the room are all included. Then it would accommodate my sister's furniture, so that was nice. I think she had to have familiar surroundings. I think they could accommodate both assisted living and memory care, but right at that time, it seemed like the residents that were there were dementia patients. We only met with Brenda, and she's seemed very compassionate, caring, and concerned about details about my sister. What kind of activity level she was? Is she verbal at all? Did she interact with people? I thought that was very positive. I think she would be engaged with my sister. It's still under construction partially, but the part that we saw, she set it up very specific to taking care of the residents."

"My mother is at American House, and she loves it. We found that to be the perfect place for her. Her apartment is beautiful. She moved from her own personal apartment, and it's a shrunken version of her apartment, but not that much smaller. She loves the food. She is a little concerned about the staff in the dining room. They're not handy to pull out chairs or if she's trying to get attention for coffee or silverware. She's happy with the people who dump the trash everyday and the people who do her bed sheets. They have exercise, bible study, and fingernail painting, but she doesn't go down to a lot. "

"My mother has been at Independent Village for three years. Our family has been extremely grateful we have found such a perfect place for her. The entire staff from administration, entertainment to housekeepers and laundry services are very personable and caring. My mother hated the idea of moving so we got her the two bedroom unit with huge windows overlooking Edward Hines Park. As time has gone on, mom has required additional services such as personal hygiene, extra laundry services, medication assistance and all are thoughtfully done by the Laurus workers."

"My mother stayed in American House Westland Hunter for a year. It was very clean. People were engaging. It was a very nice apartment. The staff and services were exceptional. They were very, very helpful. They had limited activities because it was during COVID, but they took them out to the stores for shopping and out to lunch. They did bingo. They had karaoke. They had a bar night, where they served them alcohol. They had movie night. She had her own kitchen, so she really did not use the food much."

"We liked Lockwood of South Lyon because of its location, the apartment size, and its layout. The room that we're going to have will be large enough, under 1,000 square feet, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, so it's very spacious. The staff was very good. The dining area looked very nice. They have a beauty salon, a library, local transportation, and health care services available if you need to contract for them."

"We're moving into Westhaven Manor. It was clean, quiet, and they accept pets. They're nice apartments. We liked it a lot. The staff was really nice and very helpful. They showed us everything, including all the different amenities. It was a nice tour. They have movies, game night, bingo, shopping, arts and crafts, and gym. They have a little store and a barbershop. It's just a lot of things. It's nice. They also have a nice trail out in the back, where you can take a walk and walk the dog."

"My husband is at American House Westland Venoy, and I can't really complain. I don't have no negativity as far as him being there. The physical appearance of the place is good. I'm not gonna say it's modern, but it's well-kept. The staff is courteous and very informative. He gets breakfast there, but sometimes he doesn't want to eat it. There are days when it's good, and there are days when he doesn't eat his meals. They have a calendar of activities. They do coloring, toss basketball, exercise video, and puzzles; he doesn't really participate. I wish it could be cheaper. They have amenities like a salon. I think maybe he could use another light, but he's got a little lamp. They also have a garden patio. Right now, they got it decorated for Halloween."

"My mom has been here since April and for several months I was extremely happy with the facility, the staff was great when it came to the care of the residents. The only problem I had in the beginning was missing clothes and shoes. Recently the staff and administrators have changed and not for the better, I don’t understand why the change because the old staff was the best, no one is hardly available to address my concerns and the nursing staff is not as professional like the old staff which I wish could come back. At this point I’m looking for a new facility especially since they have increased their fees $200.00 and their services are no longer worth it. The only thing that is consistent from the time my mom moved in would be the activity director Bridgit, she is amazing and has my mother very active. It saddens me to see this beautiful place and staff in the beginning to change so drastically to the point I’m removing my mother from her comfort zone but I can’t keep her there. We had a life scare and Jatonya noticed she wasn’t breathing right called ems which I was told had it been any later she wouldn’t be here today. She is no longer there and that’s sad she was excellent at her job and I don’t feel this new staff are as attentive as the old staff, while I visit no one comes and check on her which they never know when we visit for this unhappiness I feel now she’s going to leave as soon as I find another happy place. I’m so sad to do this to my mom but the only thing to keep her there would be to return the old staff completely"

"American House Livonia was beautiful and very nice. It’s a little bit pricier, but it's OK. They didn't have a lot of men there. The staff was wonderful. They're well-staffed, clean, and friendly. The places that the residents live in was good, and the dining room was gorgeous. It's very nice, and they have 3 meals a day. They don't advise cooking, but some of the units have microwaves and refrigerators. They encourage them to eat in the dining room and use their microwaves for snacks. They have exercises, and they can go outside to walk. "

"Newly opened (January 2024) and still very nice. Modern apartments with wood cabinets and nice counter tops, updated bathrooms and in-room laundry. The food varies from decent to good, and there is plenty of it (24/7 coffee, snacks/sandwiches, icecream machine, in addition to meals). Very few, if any, "add-on" costs. It is worth checking out if you need independent living."

"We liked Rose Senior Living at Providence Park. The general appearance was very nice. They had a library room that was full of plants and books with really tall windows. It was a wonderful library room. That was special and beautiful. The staff was very nice. The young man giving us the tour knew every resident by name. They had a movie theater there, some concerts, and non-denominational church services. The rooms for eating were very open and there were a lot of windows. So, there's a lot of sunlight coming through. I got a very good impression of the staff and the place was very nice."
